Big 5 Sporting Goods

If I could rate this lower then 1 star I would. 3 weeks ago I purchased a «aerobed» air mattress from Big 5 in Merced California and it worked fine this whole time so far until last night when it separated at the seam and deflated making it unusable. We are in the middle of a move and the receipt is packed away so we do not have access to it at this moment. We took the mattress and everything it came with including the box with the bar code to the Big 5 store in Sonora and explained this to the clerk. She was very helpful and told us to pick another one out to trade straight across for one that works. While starting the process at the check out stand a poorly dressed and very unprofessional female came over and told us no, we will not trade or return without the receipt. We tried to explain to her what happened but she refused to listen to us and basically said that she would not help us. With today’s technology I can’t believe that the Big 5 corporation does not have a way to scan the bar code on the box and see where and when & who made this purchase. This female (who I can only guess at what job she does for big 5 by what she was wearing) was just about as unprofessional as they come, I will not spend one more single penny at this company ever again. Save your money because in my opinion Big 5 Sonora is not a customer friendly business and I encourage all to spend your money somewhere else…

Very nice clerks, doing their best for a big box corporation with some obtuse policies. Good products and knowledgeable staff worth a visit to compare prices for some smaller local enterprises on S. Washington St.

Big 5 is a great place to buy a shotgun. Not one but TWO very knowledgeable and helpful sales people helped me to select my first shotgun. One male and one female clerk, gave me all the time I needed and answered all of my questions at length. They knew the answers to every question I had, plus they had a wealth of their own personal experiences to share with me. I have used the shotgun they sold me several times, and I am very happy with it. I highly reccomend Big 5 for any long gun or ammo purchases.

Kudos to Lisa and the folks at Big 5 for taking great care of me!!! I love a particular running shoe that has been out of circulation for 4 or 5 years. Whenever I wear out a pair they cheerfully go online and check every other location for my shoe. They always seem to find one and in my size. then they give me the last sale price on the shoe even if it isnt currently on sale. Now that is service and dedication to the customer. No wonder this store does so well. They really get customer service!!!
