The Girl & The Fig Caters!

Jesse helped plan our wood-​fire pizza oven dinner for our wedding in March, and it couldn’t have been better!
Because of our remote location up Spring Mountain, Jesse, myself and Chef were worried about being able to do the event at all. And it worried me somewhat that they didn’t really have any pictures to share of their pizza events.
And then… It rained. Poured. All weekend. And as everyone knows, fire and water don’t mix.
But somehow Jesse and her team (including bartender and chef) got the truck and oven up the slick, windy drive and settled in for one of the best pizza dinners we’ve ever had! Thank you for braving the rain and the dark to feed us!
We had the Bianco #1, Red #1, Fig and White pizzas, and all were outstanding! To add a little greens, we chose their signature salad sans nuts (allergies), and really enjoyed the whole meal. Jesse and the bartender stayed until the party ended at 10pm, and served our wine, beer and mixed drinks. They were just wonderful!
I am searching for photos and will post when I have them. But let me tell you this: Their pizza oven experience is top-​notch, and Jesse and the team are very good at what they do! I would definitely recommend them over any other local pizza experience (and I called them all!)!!

Recently, we held a drop-​in brunch at Suite D, a funky space associated with The Girl and the Fig Caters. Kathryn Eyers was our contact. She tried very hard to accommodate any special dietary requests. She was consistently pleasant to work with – we shared many laughs. She was obviously very experienced with the space and proposed setting up the tables in a way that worked well for guest flow at the event. I dropped off our small floral arrangements the day before the event and arrived early, expecting to tweak them and put them out on the tables. She had already done all that ahead for us. Her staff had everything looking perfect at least an hour before guests arrived. The buffet items were labeled, which guests really appreciated. I could kick back and welcome our guests.
The food surpassed our expectations. We had selected the version of the brunch that included two entrees. The quiche melted in my mouth. The lox, bagels and all the fixings were fabulous. My husband said the orange juice tasted fresh-​squeezed. There were many more items included in the buffet package than I had remembered, and they were of the quality that one would expect in their popular Sonoma restaurant. The varied pastries and their signature arugula-​and-​fig salad were huge hits. The coffee and decaf were high quality.
Suite D is in an industrial setting, but once the guests are inside, there is a warm feeling. The location was not an issue for us, and the space was far more affordable than a «buyout» of a town square restaurant for this size group.
Our guests loved the food, which was often replenished by the friendly and attentive staff.
We continue to receive positive feedback on the relaxing event in Suite D!

The food was very disappointing! However, I am giving 2 stars for the service and lovely atmosphere. We went for the Sunday fish & chips with cole slaw and butterscotch pot de crème. The cole slaw was only okay, and unfortunately the best part of the meal. The beer battered fish was soggy — I expected crispy English style fish & chips. Don’t they know to make sure the oil is very hot before cooking? We love Girl and the Fig, so had a high expectation for great food. Not sure we would give this place another chance.

We were part of a corporate party catered by Girl & The Fig at Suite D. We left with the impression that this is the current project of some dilettante. Everything was that bad. Where can I begin? The Caesar (like) Salad was covered with something that smelled like low-​grade truffle oil, with a whiff of onion-​soup powder. Still can’t quite identify it. Wondering how you can screw up a salad. The «gnocchi» (clearly a «postmodern» attempt at the same) tastes like biscuits, either dog or human. But they were not even in the same ballpark to what we know as gnocchi. The brown gravy on said gnocchi was a curious addition too…
But here’s my favorite: the catering entity is staffed by a bunch of young, unprofessional millennials. And by young and unprofessional, we mean just wow. At 5:45, we asked one such waitress for some protein for our child. They said they’d get us some by 6 pm. At 6, we asked another. She said, «oh, like, 5 minutes, like.» At 6:30, we asked a third. We were then told that the main dish wasn’t ready yet. 7:30 rolls around — you read that right — almost 2 hours after we were promised — the young millennial staff ceremoniously starts their procession of service… at the table furthest from us. After we reminded them the sixth time, did someone finally get jolted into «Oh! That’s right — your kids haven’t eaten!»)
Just an absolute failure. Bad food; horrendous service; and Suite D ain’t exactly a pretty choice either.

Went to one of the new Pop-​up dinners… My dinner with… Rick Bayless in this case. Suite D is a catering kitchen that occasionally transforms itself into private dinner for about 100. We had a fantastic menu:

Main course served family style. Everything was delicious. The Ceviche was my favorite, mixture of shrimp, scallops and halibut. YUM! We were three and we sat at a table for 8 with 5 other, extremely fun people. It was free corkage, so we brought our own bottle of wine. Started at 6:30 and left at about 9:20. After we ate, everyone in the place just sat and talked with their tablemates. There was no rush to leave. It was fantastic.
You buy your ticket in advance, so no cash is needed at the dinner. I did email to ask about tips for the staff, they are included in the price, but in the future, I will bring an appropriate tip, they were honestly the best staff I’ve experienced in a LONG time.
I loved it so much, I came home and joined their Suite D Social Club. Can’t wait to go back.

We had our Rehearsal dinner at Suite D, the catering location of Girl & The Fig, and were thoroughly impressed with the service, wedding expertise and the delicious food! Kathryn & Jesse are amazing! Kathryn Eyers was phenomenal to partner with for our welcome dinner. She accommodated our large party, video slideshow and disabled/​wheelchair guests with ease. She was flexible and collaborative every step of the planning phase! She customized our food & desserts to match our wedding colors and theme! Kathryn went above and beyond to match our colors exactly for our napkins. The food was delicious and the catering staff was professional and wonderful. We should have used them for our wedding reception!!!

The Girl & The Fig catered our wedding in Calistoga and it was phenomenal! Jesse was fantastic to work with. She helped us with not only the food, but with all of the rentals and reception set-​up. She was patient and responsive, especially during the last few weeks leading up to the wedding.
And the food!!! Our guests are still talking about the amazing food almost a month after our wedding. For the hors d’oeuvres, we had the panko crusted shrimp, lamb meatballs, smoked trout and arancinis. For dinner, we had the steak and roasted chicken served family style. Everything was delicious! The service was amazing as well. The servers were very attentive and my husband and I never had an empty glass.
I would highly recommend The Girl & The Fig. They really helped make our day truly special.

When my local friends heard that Girl & The Fig was catering our October 18^th wedding in wine country, everyone was really excited — and they did not disappoint. People said it was the best wedding food they’d ever had!
When guests first arrived, we had a welcome station set up with lavender lemonade and bellinis (bubbly provided by the winery, and fresh peach purée provided by G&TF). After the ceremony, we had an hour-​long cocktail hour, and the hors d’oeuvres were truly phenomenal. We went with panko-​crusted shrimp, tuna tartare on wonton, crispy pork belly, lamb kebabs, and a special request that they were happy to accommodate: bacon-​wrapped scallops. For dinner, we started with an amuse bouche of their mushroom soup (which people are still talking about 3 months later), then served their signature fig & arugula salad. For entrees, we chose the beef filet (added a blue cheese medallion to the top, and served it over soft polenta), roasted chicken, and ricotta gnocchi as a unique vegetarian option (it was so good that I asked them to bring me a special side of it with my steak!). The mini desserts were amazing as well, and it’s nice that three are included with the dinner package. We chose the apple tarte tatin (amazeballs), butterscotch pot de crème, and peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, which they served warm to guests getting on the shuttle at the end of the night (I mean, come on).
The service on our wedding day was really excellent as well — so good that people actually commented on it. We were nervous about not getting to eat at our own wedding, but G&TF made it incredibly easy for us to enjoy all of the delicious food we’d so carefully picked out. They had a dedicated server just for us, who found us after the ceremony with a bellini for me and gluten-​free beer for my husband, and a special plate of appetizers, which we scarfed down since we were starving! Our wine glasses were never empty during dinner, and they coordinated to serve entire tables at the same time so no one had to wait to eat.
I would highly recommend using Girl & The Fig to cater your wedding or special event! They may cost a little more than some others in the area, but if the food is important to you on your big day, it’s well worth it to guarantee quality and consistency. Oh, and they do an amazing tasting at their cute Suite D space to help you narrow down your picks — go hungry, and bring wine :-)

We held our wedding reception at Suite D which is managed by the girl in the fig caterers in November. Laura Dunn was great to work with, the facility looked fantastic, warm and festive. The food was fabulous — wild salmon and pork tenderloin.
What’s interesting about suite D is what it looks like on the inside and what it looks like on the outside are quite different! It’s part of a strip mall of warehouses on a quiet street outside of Sonoma. It looks like it could be a auto parts distributor or something like this from the outside but on the inside it’s warm and inviting and very festive! Our guests couldn’t say enough about the quality of the food and the service as well as the overall ambiance.
We had 45 guests at our reception plus ourselves so 47 people in total. That is about the full capacity of the room if you want to have a little bit of space for a dance floor which we did.

Menu is amazing, and the staff is incredibly professional and helpful, especially Kellie W. They’re one of the best for a reason!

As a New Englander for my first 65 years, I’m not often given to effusive statements, but The Girl & The Fig Caters was absolutely terrific in catering our daughter’s wedding in California wine country on 10÷18÷14. Under the eagle eye of Catering Manager Laura Dunn, everything was flawlessly executed and surpassed our expectations. The food was superb (THANK YOU Chef Dustin and staff!), the setup of the tables was elegant and gorgeous, and the service was perfect. Did I mention that the food was superb?
Laura Dunn had assured us that she and her colleagues take every wedding as importantly as do the bride, groom and parents, and that was evident in everything that was done.

The Girl and The Fig catered our rehearsal dinner (at Suite D) and our wedding in Kenwood. From the day we first met Laura at Suite D to try out their food, she was the utmost professional and went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure that everything was in place for the wedding. This extended beyond just catering to linens, equipment and table rentals, lighting, day of event coordination, venue coordination, and anything else we threw at her! Although this was not her responsibility or part of her job description, we were doing a destination wedding, and our venue did not provide any assistance in coordinating the event from 3,000 miles away. Laura took things over and our wedding would not have been as amazing as it was without Laura!
The food, from the rehearsal dinner to the wedding, was phenomenal. Guests were raving about the chicken and the salmon. The pizzas at the rehearsal dinner were so good and so fun as well! Goat Cheese Gelato was a hit too (we got a gelato cart!).
We can’t thank Laura enough, and the whole experience with Girl and The Fig was worth every penny. This is the place to go for any events in Napa/​Sonoma!

We had our small intimate wedding reception here at the catering site, Suite D, and everything was just absolutely beautiful and perfect!
Kevin, the manager was very responsive and always replied promptly. Service was smooth with food coming out pretty fast and in sync. The staff were all very friendly and professional. Kevin stayed in touch before and throughout the event and helped everything move smoothly and exactly how I wanted. He helped figure out a lot of the logistics as well, which was great!
It’s such a lovely, quaint space and really gave us the intimate wedding reception that we wanted. Suite D will work with you as far as linens/​decorations/​anything else. I would totally come back to do a different event, or have them cater an event!
Every guest raved about how it was the best wedding food ever, even the photographers and the videographers, and they would know!

A super cute, casual, but elegant space that makes for a wonderful evening. The staff was young and fabulous! They were so kind and helpful and attentive and were better than some I have experienced in restaurants.
The food was really delicious. The mini BLTs served during cocktail hour were addictive. Dinner started off with a salad that was packed with everything you need, pancetta (salty), candied nuts (sweet), tomatoes, cheese, lettuce in a wonderful dressing. Main courses were chicken with a corn succotash and a pork loin with potatoes. Everything was served family style and was excellent. Dessert were bite sized strawberry shortcakes, so yummy.
Between the service and the food it was pretty much a perfect evening.

The girl and the fig catered our wedding a few days ago. It was wonderful! The food was amazing and they were very easy to work with. Would definitely recommend!

Its been a year of friends having big birthdays, and we’ve tried to celebrate although our friends are now spread far and wide.
We went to a fantastic big birthday party celebration catered by Girl and the Fig and hosted at their Schelville Road location, which is named Suite D. Inside this unassuming garage looking building, wonderful things await.
My perspective is as a party goer, although I heard from the host how easily everything ran with the owner and her talented crew at the helm. At a table set for twenty, twinkling lights, a long dining table set with wine country aplomb, this reclaimed wood hewn paneled room with long drapery and exposed, corrugated metal paneling was transformed into the perfect setting for any wine country party or event. The service was attentive and very thoughtful.
The menu included a handful of excellent hors derves: fantastic ahi bites (my personal favorite), polenta with black truffle and chevre on rosemary toast with lavender honey. The dinner included some very moist cod and medium rare steak, grilled eggplant and a creamy polenta with cheese paired with great wines. Its not easy to get platters of meat on the table that are truly medium rare, so seeing this beautiful, juicy platter of red steak go down the table was pretty exciting. It tasted as good as it looked.
Wonderful place to celebrate one of life’s big events. You will feel like you’ve eaten exceptionally well and be wonderfully taken care of.

The Girl & the Fig handled catering and rentals for our October wedding in Glen Ellen and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. Andrea was a really nice person to work with, so organized and so professional. The entire staff is superbly attune to what needs to be done from the planning phase through to the end of your event. Every minute detail is accounted for with Andrea, Gaia and her very helpful staff. They know their job and I’m not an event planner so I took their recommendations and suggestions and really let them lead me and I’m so glad I did. The whole event was perfect.
I started planning my wedding over a year ahead because I knew I would never have the time to do it once grad school resumed, and Andrea kept us on task. She helped us select rentals from linens to chairs to the layout of the tables. It was simple and straight forward and we were able to stay in our budget.
I found Girl & the Fig Caters! after talking to a few other Sonoma caterers and I realized they are the catering office of our favorite restaurant in Glen Ellen. At first I wondered if on a big scale the food would still taste wonderful like it does in the restaurant. My doubts were misplaced because the food was excellent and perfect at our wedding reception. The food was warm and just delicious. We had a buffet and hors d’oeuvres beforehand. We got the wine from the winery we rented for the event so they took care of serving and chilling of that for us.
Our wedding took place on a very warm afternoon and my dress was hot and having bustle/​train issues. The Girl & the Fig staff kept the refreshments going for us and I know I would have passed out if not for them bringing me water while taking pictures. I never imagined how busy I would get in the middle of a wedding ceremony and reception and if you don’t have anyone bringing you water you will likely not feel well very quickly. It was so nice to have hem watching out for me. I had to duck into the dressing room during the reception and again the wonderful staff followed me with the hors d’oeuvres while I got my dress situation straightened out. I would have never tasted half the food if not for the staff watching out for me.
Thank you for making my wedding so amazingly beautiful and memorable. The guests were so delighted by the food, I had to tell them about your lovely restaurants. If we ever renew our vows, we’re coming to you. :)

Girl and the Fig catered our July 2^nd wedding in Healdsburg and they were fantastic. Andrea was a true professional from our very first meeting and the supporting staff were just as wonderful. She helped every step of the way, including helping me pick out linens, tableware, set-​up and design. Andrea and her staff even went out of their way to locate our cake servers, which were a gift and very important to us, when they went missing after our nuptials. Choosing Girl and the Fig was one of the best things we did for our wedding and our guests.
The food was superb. We chose to serve a family style meal with a seated salad. Serving two entrees family style was a wonderful way to share a meal with our guests (not to mention, an easy way to keep everything organized) and we couldn’t ask for better, fresher food. The cocktail hour appetizers were the definite stand out and so were the mini desserts we served with our wedding cake. They even mixed up the cocktails we asked them to serve with perfection.
If we had to do it all over again, we’d hire Girl and the Fig in a heartbeat.

Girl & The Fig catered our wedding in Sonoma. They were professional throughout the whole affair, accommodating last minute changes and seating adjustments without complaint or charge. We received several compliments about the food as well.
Most importantly, they dealt with a very last minute venue change with style and grace — the food came out on time despite what I could only imagine was chaos in the back. If it was, they certainly didn’t let on.
They may be a little more costly than other area options, but they don’t play the games others do — we found our estimated price to be very close to the «real» price, whereas other vendors (cough, cough Park Avenue) left out substantial items from their original quote.
Tip: Go Family Style. It’s less formal than plated, with a fun convivial flair but no food lines.
