Sweet Scoops Homemade Ice Cream

Mini me gave the lemon sorbet 5 stars. Chocolate chip, chocolate and rum raisin were enjoyed as well. Great ice cream!

Hubby and I were strolling around Sonoma after lunch at the Girl & the Fig and stumbled across Sweet Scoops Homemade Ice Cream. The décor was super cute from the outside and we are never ones to turn down homemade ice cream! It was hotter than expected on Valentine’s Day weekend so we decided to treat ourselves to some refreshing ice cream.
The shop is pretty small and the flavors are written on a board in the back. The décor inside is really inviting and cute. There was only one guy running the show! He gave samples, served ice cream and was the cashier! Despite all this the line went by pretty quickly! There were so many flavors that we wanted to try so we opted for the «flight» which was described and 4 tiny scoops. We ordered mint chip, cupcake, rose and lavender honey. Let me tell you, these «tiny» scoops weren’t exactly tiny! They were closer to normal household ice cream scoop size! At $ 6.75 for the entire flight this was quite a deal!
Mint chip. Made with natural mint, this classic was light and delicious.
Cupcake. There were bits of red velvet cake in this one! It was just the right amount of sweet and truly tasted like my favorite cupcake! So good!
Rose. What?!? Why was this so good! I didn’t know what to expect but really enjoyed this unique flavor.
Lavender honey. Sweet, creamy and refreshing! This was also a unique flavor that I really enjoyed. Not to mention, the color was gorgeous!
Sweet Scoops was so good! We are definitely craving it now that we are back home from our weekend getaway. We will return the next time we are in Sonoma!

Ice cream heaven!
Took one look and all I could think of was Cappuccino Crunch! And baby, I was not disappointed from the moment that the first spoon melted in my mouth! And now, a full day later, my hand is shaking, there cold sweat on my forehead, and I can’t focus on anything but the fact that I could’ve tried half dozen more flavors and I did not! I am not sure if I can ever forgive myself!

WOW! Amazing ice cream!!! Everything I tasted was excellent! It was cool — the owner was there and they make everything in house. Some of the best ice cream I have ever had!

OK, this place is adorable. I tried the Lavender Fig, and it’s to die for. Also, the Pangloss Cherry Chip + wine is smooth and delicious. My gal pal got Horchata, and enjoyed it as well.
This is a great choice if you’re looking for a sweet treat and are staying at one of the downtown Sonoma B&Bs. Nice!

Eh, wasn’t super impressed with the flavors but I tasted maybe three so I felt obliged to buy, lol. I can’t even remember what I bought but I threw away half of it. Nice to have an ice cream option in the area, but not best I’ve had.

Sweet Scoops is an adorable little ice cream shop in downtown Sonoma’s Plaza. The proprietor and ice cream creator, Joe, learned his ice cream making skills in Denver, Colorado at Bonnie Brae Ice Cream. He and his family moved to Sonoma to bring his delicious ice cream to Northern California. He offers one vegan ice cream option in the winter that varies by season — pumpkin, peppermint and maple walnut. And also makes cinnamon, strawberry and cocoa mint! In the summer, he always has two vegan flavors available. He also offers sorbet flavors year round. I had a Tiny scoop of his vegan cocoa mint on a vegan, gluten free cone for just $ 3. I am not typically a fan of the chocolate peppermint combo in nice cream until I tried Joe’s! It was delicious and creamy with chunks of chocolate. My husband also agreed that it was wonderful!
Sweet Scoop has given me a new excuse to make the drive from Napa to Sonoma!

PEACHES AND CREAM ICECREAM! GET IT! Its nice and light and sweet (not the overly sweet kind). Instantly became my favorite ice cream flavor of all time.
I’ve been thinking about it after the first time I tried it, and sadly, I can’t get anything similar in SF. Will definitely come back when I’m up at Sonoma again.

Went here on January 2^nd. The ice cream itself still tasted great but it had little bits of fabric or something in it (it looked like the ice cream had caught bits of little fabric pieces off of a sweater or something.) It was also about 40 degrees outside and they left the door open the entire time. Very uncomfortable.

Really cute ice cream Café! Customer service is friendly and helpful. The owner was making ice cream in the back and came out to help and made a special mocha for me as it was a cold drizzly day. My husband and two kids absolutely loved the ice cream they got, in fresh waffle cones– salted caramel and cookie dough– delicious! The owner explained how ingredients were acquired at farmers market. If you’re in Sonoma, don’t miss this spot!

Cute ice cream show in Sonoma with friendly staff. There were so many ice cream flavours I didn’t even know where to begin! I opted for the egg nog flavour (it’s the holidays after all), and was not disappointed. Strong taste for a small scoop. I got it with their very own waffle cones which tasted good, as well as did *not* have a hole at the bottom (like some handmade cones I usually see) and did *not* get soggy. There was a line when I went, but it went by pretty quickly. It’s definitely worth a visit here if you’re in the area :)

Finally Sonoma has a homemade ice cream shop on the square.
They have a nice friendly ambiance and the servers are helpful and efficient (even with a picky ice cream eater like me). Prices are good at $ 3.25 for a single scoop (before tax).
I sampled a bunch and thought the texture was spot on but the flavors need a little adjusting. When I asked for what they considered their signature flavor, they gave me butter brickle, which even my kid cousin agreed was too sweet. The less sweet flavors like lemon custard were nice and creamy (I picked pumpkin with swirls of cream cheese), but I found the flavoring a bit too light. The ice cream would be perfect if the flavors were a bit more robust (and the salted caramel more infused and less salty).
All that said, this is a solid shop and fills a much needed void in Sonoma square offerings.

Very good ice cream place with lots of flavors and nice solid texture. Got rum raisin (not a strong rum flavor), peaches and cream, and salted caramel. All were good for flavor. Freshness and texture perfect.

I had just taken my sister out for lunch to celebrate her 68^th birthday. We stumbled across scoops and each of us God maple walnut. Absolutely delicious! Creamy, huge walnuts, no artificial, not overly sweet. She and I sat out front for about an hour and a half, and must have watched 100 people go in and out of that shop! The husband-​and-​wife team inside were friendly and fun and were happy to give us samples of anything we wanted to taste. We will be back!!!

Hello Sonoma. We finally have an ice cream shop that we can be truly proud of.
My girlfriend dragged me here for the first time tonight… I was under the impression that I was heading to Ben and Jerry’s as that is what I remembered to be here.
Nope. Not at all. No Ben. Jerry can’t be found.
What we did find was home made ice cream. Home. Made. Ice. Cream. And delicious Ta boot.
Peanut butter chex mix. For realz?!! yes please.
Also, I recommend the home made waffle cones. They are fresh, crispy, crunchy and all around delightful.
The owner was really nice… totally ‘gets’ what our Sonoma culture is about. He is a recent transplant from Denver but fits in great here. We will be back.

Such excellent ice cream reminiscent of my all-​time favorite, Ici! The staff was most helpful with samples and recommendations from the large selection of flavors. My brother and I split a sampler of «tiny» scoops (ie. they were pretty hgue) and it was phenomenal — Reese’s cup, chocolate cherry nut, peaches & cream and fantastic tiramisu. The quality of the ingredients in every flavor was so easily detectable on the palate and on a different level than the vast majority of ice cream shops I’ve tried over the years.
We had to grab a homemade waffle cone of basque chocolate chip cookie as well and both were derricious — mad crispy and still a bit warm.
Worth a visit each and every time I visit Sonoma.

My two friends and I came here after a winery tour, and it was the perfect end to a great day.
I was really impressed that one of the employees came out from behind the counter to speak to us personally, offering samples upfront for anything we wanted to try. I sampled the vegan mint chocolate chip and the raspberry sorbet. (For those who are curious or have even more food restrictions, I was told their vegan ice creams are made out of a soy and coconut milk blend. Definitely would be safe to check before ordering.)
We all went with the one-​scoop in a sugar cone — I chose the vegan mint chocolate chip, one friend picked the regular mint chocolate chip, and the other peaches and cream. I would say that the one-​scoop was just enough to satisfy my ice cream craving without feeling like it was too much. Also, thank goodness their mint-​based ice creams aren’t dyed toothpaste green!
Sadly, as one friend was taking her first lick of the ice cream, the movement knocked the cone out of her hand and it landed — as Murphy’s Law /​physics would have it — upside down. She was mortified and completely ready to buy another cone, but the employee who helped us was so nice that he gave her a new cone of the same order on the house.
Great ice cream, great service, can’t beat supporting local!
4.5 stars — just because I wish they offered more than one vegan ice cream flavor!

The ice creams here have solid texture: creamy but firm, like a confident woman’s handshake! The flavors here are standard so don’t expect to find anything unique or mind blowing. We had the chocolate chip, oreos, almond, and coffee crunch and all were satisfying in the Sonoma summer heat. Prices were also reasonable at $ 3.25 for a single scoop, $ 4.50 for a double scoop, and $ 5.05 for a triple. No lines either!

Super leckeres Eis! Nach einem Monat Eis-​Entzug war das eine echte Offenbarung, die ich um ein Haar verpasst hätte. Eigentlich wollte ich zunächst gar kein Eis, aber als ich dann mit dem Rest der Truppe in dem so hübsch eingerichteten Laden stand und sich vor mir die leckerstes Eissorten erstreckten, konnte ich gar nicht anders. Eine hörte sich besser als die andere an, ich entschied mich letztendlich für zwei scoops — einmal Rocky road (Schoki mit Nüssen und Marshmallows) und Salted Caramel (mein Lieblingsgeschmack). Dazu noch die frische Hauswaffel. Gesagt, getan, kurz darauf stapelte sich ein riesiger Berg Eis in der Waffel, da war geschicktes Balancieren und Schlecken gefragt. Ich habe mit meiner Wahl auf jeden Fall alles richtig gemacht — geschmackvolles Eis, super cremig und sahnig. Ich hätte mir keinen besseren Wiedereinstieg ins Eis-​Business vorstellen können.

Such a cute little ice cream place! Really great flavors, too. I think I had the salted caramel, or something like that. Note that a «tiny» isn’t as small as you may think. The scoops in a flight also aren’t very small, but you are getting a really good deal, with four flavors for $ 6!
Getting your ice cream with the handmade waffle cone also makes it even better.

Home made, quaint, but only one vegan option.
Gluten free cone I wish I could try but wouldn’t go well with orange sherbet.
Very small indoor area to sit and eat, limited outdoor as well.
Good location in Sonoma, across from park with play area for kids. Nice stroll around the block is also a fun pass time. Free parking in streets.
