Wow — I just read the hater reviews on this thread and could not disagree more. They do provide one with a few great examples of psychological projection, though.
To the people who felt like they weren’t treated well because they weren’t a movie star? Totally insecure. I’ve never had that. These people at the office are nice.
Ummm, perhaps if you felt like you weren’t being treated well it might be because you yourself are an insecure hater? To the person who balked at the long list of issues? We have bad memory and someone who obviously doesn’t go to the dentist much…
My experience has been that, if anything, Dr. Pang undersells his recommendations. But then again, I’m a big boy and make my own decisions. Perhaps that’s just him tacitly acknowledging that we’re mature adults.
Anyway, here’s my review.
Dr. Pang and his crew regularly provide the best dental care I’ve had in my short time on this earth. I give them 5 stars. I can’t say I ‘loved it’ — who really ‘loves’ going to the dentist? But they definitely earn the 5 stars.
My evaluation criteria is as follows:
a.) Skill/​Proficiency — Dr. Pang is an expert. His equipment and tools are cutting edge and he’s good about explaining why he’s using one device and piece of software or another. On the question of his skills as a dentist and craftsman — top notch. I recently had to get 2 new crowns on my back molars — they were cracked and painful. In the process of doing it, Dr. Pang fixed my bite a bit so that, for the first time in my life, my teeth closed naturally and evenly. This expertise is evident in the staff, too. Catherine runs a tight ship and uses communication technology adeptly. As a result, I don’t forget about appointments. And the entire crew of assistants are also very good. For example, my teeth cleaning experience always feels like it takes less time than it does and isn’t at all uncomfortable.
b.) Bedside Manner/​Office Vibe — The office has a great feel to it. It’s mellow and capable — just what I need in a dentist — because I don’t like going to the dentist. My previous dentist — located on Union street in SF — was the complete opposite.
c.) Efficiency — My appointments are never delayed and treatments take the time Catherine says they’ll take — no more, no less. It makes it easy to plan and also reduces stress. It takes a lot of skill, sensitivity, effort and coordination for an entire team to come off as highly competent, confident and mellow. Dr. Pang and his team do that. I really don’t like going to the dentist but this is the easiest and best I’ve experienced.
Plus, they don’t ‘floss-​shame’ me. (They could.)
I’m posting this on other review sites, too. ‘Cause it’s a bummer that competent professional health care providers like Dr. Pang have to even deal with sites like Unilocal — where negatives tend to be weighted more highly than positives.

Terrible service. Dr. Pang gave me a long list of issues that I supposedly needed to urgently take care of, which was going to cost me a fortune. Something told me to get a second opinion and I found out that I had NO problems with my teeth. It has been 10 years since I have seen Dr Pang, I have had 4 different dentists in the last 10 years and none of them have ever found any of the problems that Dr Pang claimed I had.

I have been a paitient of Dr. Pang for a few years now. I like his entire staff and their destistry practice.

Dr. Pang has been my dentist for about ten years now… since they were in their old office on Perkins street. The laser technology he uses is AMAZING.
I am a big baby when it comes to needles and drills. Each cavity I’ve had (four??) was treated using the laser and i did not need Novocaine.
One was really deep and he was at first concerned that I needed a root canal, but he was able to zap the decay out with the laser and NO PAIN!
I also did invisalign and Brightsmiles (laser whitening) here, so my teeth are looking pretty legit. I love my brilliant grill, love Dr. Pang & Sandra is an awesome, gentle hygienist!

I would rate them a zero if I could. I have never been treated so poorly by a physician before. The office has been on a downward spiral for a few years now. It has the feel of an oil stop. Nonstop hard selling on anything the Dr. will get kick backs from. They have the worst customer service I have ever experienced! The doctor is a pretentious jerk! If you are not a movie star or beauty queen, don’t bother seeking services from this office. The wife/​office manger is inconsiderate and spacey. I am so sad we have wasted the last five years paying for their billboard. (The hygienist is a sweetheart and this review does not reflect her whatsoever)

I would give 0 stars if I could. I would not reccommed this practice because of the front desk woman in charge. She demands you have xrays every year and will refuse to treat you even when u cannot afford them.(you only need them really every 2 years) She makes the rules as she goes to suit the practice. I feel sorry for the Dr… I just wonder how many patients she sacrificed because of her ego. The Dr is okay it’s just Her!
