Salon Mari

Wow! I decided to try out this salon today after reading the reviews on Unilocal and it was definitely worth it. I have gotten bikini waxes for many years now, and this one was by far the least painful and quick experience I have ever had. Marianne is also very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend making an appointment, as she seems to be very busy!

Came here for a facial, because location and price — she talked me into an upgraded Oxygen facial, and she did a really good job with the extraction process (the most important part, in my opinion). I wasn’t wow’d by the results, but it was a good job for a good price — not my new go to, but definitely worth checking out.

My experience with Mari was so relaxing. She presented me with multiple facial options explaining the varying levels of exfoliation. After the pumpkin/​cranberry combo, my skin felt extreme re-​hydrated and soft. She is a lovely woman and I would recommend her services to anyone.

This place has found another completely happy customer. Got a waxing here as deft, clean, and painless as LePli or any other high class joint in town. Marianne is a pro. Going back again this week.

Marianne at Salon Mari is great with the amount of care she takes of her clients. Her prices are very reasonable, her hours are great, and she take the time to get to know you, so it feels like more personal service. I like feeling like i’m supporting smaller, local businesses and she does great work!

Excellent facial at a reasonable price ($ 75). Would recommend and plan to return. Only negative was that the treatment room is not sound proof and loud talking outside the room was very audible while I was «relaxing» with the mask. Would suggest more awareness on this score (and perhaps some sound proofing).
Note that she doesn’t accept credit cards, just cash and check.

This was, hands down, the best facial that I have ever gotten. Mari spent so much time on my (painless) extraction — my face has never been so clean! Also the hand and shoulder massage really got me to relax. It’s been a few days since my appointment and still my face is glowing, I would highly recommend Mari to anyone. I’ll definitely be going back.

I went here for a facial and eyebrow wax today and it was a great experience! Mari made sure I was comfortable and relaxed, which isnt easy since the steam tends to make me claustrophobic. But she listened to me and lowered it when necessary. I had the oxygen facial which was very soothing for my dry, sensitive skin.
I also enjoyed the warming hand mitts and the neck and shoulder massage with eucylyptus oil, ahhh. I’m so glad I found this salon on Unilocal,its great and so close to home! The only reason I didnt give a 5^th star is because the products she uses do contain some synthetic fragrance, which I’m not a fan of. They are high quality european products that worked well and have natural ingredients, but they also contain fragrance which could be an issue for super sensitive skins. My skin isnt sensitive enough to be bothered by this for an occassional use, but I wouldnt use these products regularly. I ‘ll definitely come back here for a terrific facial!

Marianne is outstanding, highly recommended. This is definitely a hidden gem of Somerville I absolutely loved it!!!

I agree with the previous reviewer who said she’s grateful to Unilocal for helping her find Salon Mari. I got a facial here last week and it was great. Marianne is delightful. For me, a facial is a major splurge. Unlike other salons I’ve been to, Marianne did not tell me that my skin was horrible and then go in for the up-​sell. My facial at Salon Mari was a relaxing experience from beginning to end, and my skin looked remarkably better (without me having to feel bad about it.) I will definitely be going back.

I’ve tried a few different salons around Somerville for Brazilian waxes and Mari wins the chicken dinner! Absolutely the least painful wax I’ve everrr gotten evereverever! Reasonably priced at $ 50 (20% off first time clients), thorough/​clean job well done, & I’ll repeat, almost didn’t feel a thing.
I’ve actually walked by here so many times and honestly would never have tried it if it weren’t for the previous reviews.
Definitely coming back to try the facials that everyone’s raving about too!

Mari is great, she’s very knowledgeable about skin care, and how to take care of it from the inside out. She also uses very high quality products and takes great care of her clients.
I recommend her vitamin C facial, my skin looks so much healthier, it’s glowing and also very reasonably priced.
Can’t wait to come back.

Marianne is amazing! I have been trusting my skin to her for several years now, loyally following her when she started her own salon. I have always appreciated her deep knowledge and she clearly cares about her clients. She customizes treatments to the season, your particular skin issues, and what you want to achieve. My skin glows for days after I visit Marianne and no one is more comprehensive with extractions!
In addition to the functionality of the facials, Marianne’s treatments include fabulous extras that you’d normally only find at a spa where you’d also pay a lot more, like: an arm and hand massage while your pores are being steamed, a decadent facial, head, and shoulder massage, and the option of warm mitts for your hands. I always leave feeling relaxed and refreshed.
Quality of treatment and products used: top-​notch
Ambience: clean and relaxing
Price: can’t be beat, especially for all that you get
Bottom line: I’d never even think of going anywhere else

Mari is so nice and really knows her stuff! Having had a stressful week, I wanted to relax and pamper myself. I got exactly that. An hour+ of massage, masks, exfoliation, aromatherapy, it was perfect. I just had the classic facial and the eye treatment, which was amazing. My eyes looked so good afterwards and my face felt super clean. Best place ever and definitely reasonably priced. You get 20% as a first time client which is awesome. I’m definitely going back for another facial soon.

I just discovered this little gem even though I have lived around the corner from it for a year! Mari opened her own place after gaining 20 years of experience at a high end, well known, day spa chain up the road. All of that experience shines through in her results and in the quality of products that she uses. So far I have had the revitalizing facial with eye treatment and an eyebrow wax. The facial/​eye treatment was possibly the best facial I have ever had. It was so relaxing I almost fell asleep and when I looked in the mirror afterwards I had a gorgeous healthy glow and my eyes looked 10 years younger! The eyebrow wax was perfect! Better than any other place I have tried in the area. So do yourself a favor and book an appointment at Salon Mari! You will not be disappointed!
