Great fish dishes. Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants in the area. Many dishes are quite spicy which is exactly what I was looking for after trying many American-Indian restaurants.

Very small place, but extremely good food. Authentic Bangali food if you want it, some of the best fish dishes on the menu and the veggie options taste exceptional. It’ll be one of my regular places once they expand their place. The owners go out of their way to make sure you’re doing ok.

Yay! At last we found a place which has authentic Bengali on their menu. We drove from providence just to have some Bengali food and to my wonder, it is a small tucked place with 4 tables. Of course, we did not expect the classy ambience. Coming to the food, I would give five star for their kosha mangsho. We ordered everything in house specialties on the menu from daal, aloo posto, rui phookopi, sorshe ilish and mangsho with misti doi. All we thought we missed is papad and chutney. Prices are reasonable for us(may be we are starving for the authentic bong food) They don’t have a parking but I think one can get parking somewhere near by. It is very near to Cambridge and if you guys are planning to visit in a group– better call once for the availability of tables.

This little hole in the wall serves up fantastic food! Would highly recommend to anyone in the area. We ordered all of the appetizers-all fantastic. Daal and Aloo Posto were delicious.

Ami Bangali! I have lived and traveled all over US, and tried«Indian» food in all of those places. Nowhere I have encountered the smell, the taste that reminded me of home. This is by far the most authentic Bengali food I have tasted in US. AWESOME, simply AWESOME! If you are from Kolkata and new to Boston area(even if you have to drive couple hours, it will be worth it!), and love Bengali food, and miss mom’s kitchen, this hole in the wall is for you.(for us).

This isn’t your regular indian joint. Most Indian restaurants serve food thats more traditionally north indian(naans, tandoori, chicken tikka) or south indian(dosa, idlis). These guys are from the east of India, Bengal. Bengalis are foodies and there are some authentic bengali cuisine that you wouldn’t get outside of Bengal even in India. This restaurant is authentic as it can get. Try their bengali cuisine(they also have some tandoor and tikka items). Kosha mangsho(curried mutton) or murghir jhol(chicken curry) Bhapa ilish, loochi, aloo posto to name a few are very traditionally made and are mouth watering. They have seating space for only 8 – 10 people and doesn’t have a great ambience which are the only negative things that I can think of. The food makes up for it.

Found this place after a long search, hit and trials in the journey to find an authentic Indian restaurant. I am not an easy guy to be please when it comes to food. I have been to other restaurants in Boston who say that they serve so called Indian food but its not Indian -” Indian” food but Indian food that Americans will be like. And those restaurants were a total disappointment. If people eat there and say that it is authentic Indian then those people have lived too long in US and have forgotten how Indian food tastes like. Come to this place, Royal Bengal house. They serve Indian food, and eat their vindaloo curries. And tell me if you don’t feel the heat and spiciness, it will refresh your memories and tell you what Indian food tastes like. The oil flowing in all the dishes is the sign its authentic oily spicy Indian food. Forgot to tell there were more Americans here eating the hot and spicy food than other people. Seating capacity of max 15 ppl.

This little Indian restaurant is absolutely amazing. The dishes are exquisitely spiced and are prepared fresh. I would say that Royal Bengal is more like home cooking at its best. Don’t judge this restaurant by how it looks. You won’t be disappointed.

Really small family-run place. They serve really interesting Bengali dishes that many have probably never heard of, like their fish dish cooked in a mustard-based sauce or some sauteed banana leaves. Cool stuff.

As I am Bengali, this resturants foods bring all happiness without not having Moms Kitchen. Foods taste like authentic as you get in Kolkata. Kosha Mangsho, mochar ghanto, alu posto, alubhate… these are all typical bengalis food and they taste really good from here. I come there or order for delivery every week. So if you want to try typical bengali food you must try this place.

I love their Kosha Mangshu(Goat Masala), I have been ordering it more often then I should be eating it on a weekly basis. The food overall is very tasty and cooked by the owners themselves, they really put their heart into cooking. The lachha roti is the best I have had in US(and trust me I have tried many restaurants in many cities). The owners are very gracious hosts and are very welcoming. A little drawback is that they have very limited seating capacity and you might have to wait if you haven’t already ordered ahead. Highly recommended.

Absolutely as good as it gets. I went on a Saturday with my Kolkata bred and raised very Bengali boyfriend. And I had never eaten Bengali food before, so this was important. When I walked in, I felt it was too small. Regardless I let my boyfriend order. We got the shorshe maach and kasha mangsho. When my boyfriend took the first bite, I’m pretty sure he went straight to heave, then a detour to Kolkata and back. So I knew t was good. How good, I found out a minute later when I took my first bite. It lived up to the Bengali food hype. We ate like we are at home. The lady recognized my boyfriend to be Bengali and even spoke to him in Bengali. I really wanted to try the mishti doi but they were out. we had the kheer which was very good, but being from south india, it was nothin g new to me. It’s a must try. Slightly expensive but totally worth it.

We ordered some authentic dishes with paratha and luchi. Food was tasty, and felt like perfect Bengali food. The Sweet Yogurt that we had at the end of our meal was excellent. However the luchi was way too oily and we had stomach discomfort even after 8 hours of food. Still will recomend for authentic Bengali food.

I’m super happy to live down the street from this cute lil’ place. The food is amazing, affordable, etc. The flavors are incredibly fresh, they are great at customizing dishes per your special needs. I often go there with people who can’t do dairy or wheat, and they have no problem modifying or suggesting good dishes to go with in those instances. This is one of the best restaurants I have found outside of India(and better than many I have found in India!) Particular favorites include Mochar Ghanto, a banana blossom, shredded and cooked with complex spices Aloo Bhate, mashed potatoes — seasoned with mustard oil, onions and chopped green chilies Chaana Saag, fresh spinach and chaana cooked with a touch of diced onions, fresh tomatoes and a variety of herbs and spices I personally really, really like the fish dishes, but they do have these tiny little bones in them that can make them challenging to eat for some people.

Even getting it delivered(thanks Doordash!) the food was outstanding. We have eaten Indian food 100’s of times and know when it’s bad/good/great. We went with the standard items this time(chicken tikka masala, dal with chicken, palak paneer & vegetable pakora) and all were very good. Looking forward to going deeper into the menu in the future.

Seriously rad. I’ve never had Bengali food before, and though it’s certainly similar to Indian food in a lot of ways, there were flavors here that were new and exciting to me. But the highlight of dinner was the awesome Lamb Saag. Probably the best saag I’ve had in the Boston area. I also really, truly appreciate that ‘spicy’ was actually spicy, and not New England spicy. Bonus points for being one of the cheaper Indian-type places that delivers. We’ll definitely being ordering from them again.

I went to this place without any expectations but I was surprised by the quality of food. It was awesome. A must try restaurant for all Indians especially bengalis. you are going to simply love the food. We ordered kosha mangsho, fish, aloor dum, luchi. Everything was so perfect. nothing we could complain about. The lady who runs the place is quite welcoming. Just that the place is little small. Otherwise it deserves 5 star.

We had take out from here the other night. The portions were generous. The food spicy and tasty! My husband loved everything that we ordered. I wasn’t the biggest fan of their naan or the vegetarian samosa, they weren’t bad. I prefer my samosas to be a little less spicy and my garlic naan to be a more garlicky and a little thicker. I think there was a misunderstanding when placing the order; I asked if the entrées came with rice and she said no so I asked for a side of white rice, when we got home we had two huge orders of rice. Not a big deal, just still need to figure out if they’re included LOL! We love that it’s down the street and that its as delicious as it is!!! Welcome to the neighborhood!!!

Some of the finest eastern Indian food that can be had in Boston. A tiny kitchen with the owners furiously searing meat and fish for curries, masalas and gravies. The mixture known as phoron(a variation on chinese five spice) is used heavily. Fennel, cumin and anise are included with no abandon in these gravies. Meat(chicken, lamb) range in price from $ 10.50-$ 10.95 and fish(shrimp, $ 10.95) are prepared with the attentiveness of a highly trained professional. Flavors are easily dissected into their individual components while coming together to create rich, sensuous sensations. The rice is slightly«buttery,» tender and fresh. Naan($ 2.95) is crisp and doughy. The richness of flavor, care of preparation and depth of menu make this a can’t miss spot. Prompt and friendly service top off the experience.
