On the Run

If we could give 10 stars we would! We used Pat and Yaron for our Coonhound puppy and our experience was top notch!
Our dog is a hound, with specific needs and skills. From the very beginning Pat and Yaron were so helpful in giving us invaluable advise on training, temperament, and socializing. We met them at the dog park, and through getting to know them, their pack, and their handling of dogs, we quickly made the switch to joining their pack. They even stuck with us when our puppy mutated into a terrible brat during his adolescence. (He’s outgrown his naughty behaviors and comes when he’s called now!)
We are so glad we used them during his critical developmental periods of puppyhood. He is wonderfully socialized, loves kids, is obedient, and not a stitch of separation anxiety, inside barking, or destructive chewing; and we haven’t had to crate him since he turned a year old! We know at times he was trying, but their patience set a good example for us as dog owners.
They charged us less than the competitors, worked with our nutty schedule, and were wonderful neighbors! Unfortunately, we no longer live in Somerville, otherwise we would still be using them.

I’d give On the Run six stars if Unilocal allowed it. We recently have a new (human) addition to our family. Pat and Yaron were «on call» for us to drop off the dog. The baby came much earlier than expected so we texted them at 5:00 a.m. while packing for the hospital. It was not the most convenient time for them because they had an emergency to deal with as well, but they did not hesitate to take care of the dog. This, PLUS their helpfulness in other aspects during the hospital stay, confirm that Pat and Yaron are NOT only our dogwalkers, but they are also our friends, neighbours, and saviors. I cannot recommend On the Run more to anyone, they are more than dog people, they are also people people.

My puppy is everything to me. I trust him implicitly with Pat and Yaron. They have even done some training with him during park time. I can’t say enough good things about the service, caring and professionalism of On The Run.

We don’t live in Somerville anymore, but when we did our dog Riley used to go to On the Run playgroups twice a week. When we first adopted Riley, Pat and Yaron were extremely helpful to us while we got adjusted, and having him go to On the Run a couple of times a week was great for getting him used to seeing different people and dogs. He was always very tired and happy on his playgroup days. I found them to be very reliable and thought they communicated any schedule changes or potential cancellations (like in the middle of a snowstorm) in a timely manner that always allowed us to make other arrangements if necessary.
Pat and Yaron are also incredibly nice people. When we were selling our condo, I contacted Pat several times to see if she could take Riley out of the house last-​minute when someone wanted to come by and look at the condo while we were at work. She was always super helpful and accommodating really made things so much easier for us. When Riley got heartworm last winter, Pat was nice enough to save him a spot in his regular playgroup while he recovered, and after he was better and returned to playgroup, she was great about keeping an eye on him to make sure he didn’t overdo it and letting me know how he was doing for the first couple of weeks.
On the Run is not an individual dog-​walking service, so if that is what you are looking for you should find someone else. But if your dog is friendly and social and will do well in that type of environment, I would highly recommend them.

Time for an update! I’m proud to say Woofie and I are now clients of On the Run.
When I scored a new gig and knew I’d be away from home longer than before on a given workday, I emailed On the Run. Woofie was already known in the neighborhood as kind of a terror, so I half expected them to politely decline my request to walk my four-​legged bark monster.
Instead, Pat responded thoughtfully to my email and agreed to meet up with us and take Woofie on for a trial period. We both agreed their dog playgroups could be great for socializing him, given/​despite his moderately aggressive history.
So far, so good! My dog behaves well and loves the socialization and exercise he’s been getting with their service.
How it works is simple: they come to my apartment, pack Woofie into a car with a few other dogs, bring him to an off-​leash park for an hour, and return him, exercised and happy, to my door! I leave a check out once a week, and we’re done! I come home from work and find a pooped pooch passed out on the couch.
Aside from making the process of scheduling and executing dog walks super easy, Pat and Yaron are flexible, communicative, and kind. They really do go above and beyond their job of walking my dog, and it really is appreciated, every day.

We love them! They go above and beyond the call of duty from taking out my dog, to giving training tips, and extra love and affection. They love what they do and they share that passion with all the dogs they look after and all their owners. I know if I ever have any emergency, they’ll be right there to help me out.

I’ve never used their service, but have met and talked with the guy on more than one occasion. I always bring my dog to the same park, and see how he interacts with and plays with the dogs. I got his card, and would have used him in a second, but he unfortunately doesn’t pickup in my area. I would recommend him to anyone based on my interaction and observation of him.

Pat and Yaron started taking our dog for daily playgroups after we met them at the local park earlier this year. Knowing that she was having a blast with them every day helped ease my guilt over leaving her alone while at work. They are very dependable and obviously care about the dogs. We recently moved out of the city and our biggest regret is that we couldn’t take On the Run with us!

Pat and Yaron are amazing! I’m a dog trainer in the Somerville area, and I often recommend more exercise for high energy dogs to keep them from developing future behavioral issues due to frustration. On The Run cares deeply for the dogs, and the entire group goes home happy, tired, and panting.
I see them in action several times a week, are always at the park dedicating a huge chunk of time to making sure the dogs are entertained. Many dog walkers take the dog to the park and ignore the dog, but not these guys! They bring their tennis balls, their squeak toys, rope toys, water jugs/​bowls, and enough dogs that everyone has someone to play with.
Thumbs up from a training perspective, from a dog perspective, and from a human perspective. Pat and Yaron are the real deal. Woof!
