Good sushi near office. rolls are good, other entrée as well, but considering price and size I had better. Clean inside and service ok. I will come back

This used to be one of my favorite places for sashimi but the last couple of times I have went it was rather disappointing. Small pieces of not very fresh fish :-(. To be fair, my daughter had the california dinner, which she said was very good, but you can get that in shop rite.

Was really impressed with having just one server and a hostess, full dining room, they kept it together and got our food out reasonably fast despite being understaffed, which they apologized many times for. They warmed up our byob«Geineken», dealt with our mistake-laden orders, and the food was great, if not better than most of the sushi places in the area. Would go again and again.

I ordered off the lunch menu today. When I asked if the shrimp tempura roll was part of the 2-roll special, the woman who answered the phone said«yes, shrimp tempura is included, there’s no surcharge.» So when I was paying for my order, I noticed an additional surcharge of $ 2 extra per roll. When I brought this to the attention of the cashier who was the same person who took my order, she was shocked and told me «i’m new, i didn’t know.» When I asked if she could adjust the bill because this is not what she told me I would pay, she said she couldn’t; and when I asked for the manager, she said the manager wasn’t there, and then she told me «do you want it or not.» Do not go to this place, there are better sushi places around the area who will most likely deliver better customer service. To the restaurant manager, make sure you train your staff better. This one clearly did not have the restaurant’s best interest. Another important thing to note is the quality of the seaweed they use in their sushi rolls. They are not easily macerated and may end up choking you.

First time here. Absolutely delicious. Had the Flamingo roll, New Jersey roll and and eel something roll. All great. Very fresh, wonderful presentation. Restaurant has a quiet and warm ambience to it. Very relaxing. Great service. BYOB. Looking forward to coming back soon.

I’m just kind of Meh about this place. It’s in the strip mall with Il Forno and right next to the Bagel shop and Dry Cleaners. I picked up a meal to go here the other night. The restaurant itself isn’t huge but very similar to many other NJ strip mall sushi restaurants. The first problem I had was that their menu on the window does not match the menu I went in to order from. It’s a minor pet peeve of mine. I ordered 2 rolls and a salad to go. The salad was simply iceberg lettuce and nothing else which was a little disappointing. The ginger dressing it came with was good, though, and they gave you a lot. As I mentioned before, I had 2 rolls — a spicy tuna roll and a specialty roll(can’t remember the name). Both rolls were just OK. They were not bad but they certainly weren’t amazing. They also did not have a ton of fish in them and they were on the small side. I’m on the fence about giving this place another shot as I really didn’t think the value was there.

Wonderful specialty rolls. The service is usually spot on too. BYOB which makes it fun and affordable. Absolutely worth it.

Very deceptive menu. We ordered 2 rolls off the special board(pictured) that we thought were $ 7.95. As it turned out those tiny marks we thought were $ signs were actually 1’s, and our lunch bill was $ 20 more then we thought. Will never return die to this deceptive business practice.

Been eating here for a year now. It’s the best around town! The sushi is sooo good and sooo fresh. My favorite is their tempura and the chicken teriyaki staff is 5* as well as the food! Polite and attentive! I would never settle for anything less! I’m their customer for life! Thanks masa!!!

Excellent sushi! My wife and I have been coming here since we’ve moved to the area from Northern NJ which has so many Asian restaurants. So we are picky with our sushi and this place has always been great!

I had the three roll lunch special with everything spicy. It comes with a miso soup and a salad. Less than 12 $. Delicious and reasonably priced. I am so full !!

Good spot for local sushi, not earth shattering, but solid. Decent selection of rolls and types of fish.

I discovered this place from a good friend who had parents that used to own the restaurant. Now with different owners, the food is still just as great in my opinion. I was introduced to their sweet potato roll which is heavenly delicious! I HIGHLY recommend this! Every time since I have ordered it! Their California rolls are very good too. They have a picture book of their specials which was really nice to see because you could see what the food looked like and how it was presented. Some are really neat! We tried the«dreamboat» which consisted of crab meat, zucchini tempura, and some other ingredients. It was very tasty, we will definitely order again. You must try the«mochi» ice cream. Everyone should experience this. It has a chewy texture on the outside and has a solid flavor inside. My favorites are the mango and vanilla bean. They are no bigger than an Oreo cookie and a great way to end your meal. The fried ice cream is also yummy, they drizzle chocolate sauce over it. What I love about this restaurant is it’s consistent quality in service and food, low reasonable prices, and friendly staff.

Good place to have lunch or dinner. I’ve had the clear soup, salad, shrimp tempura, and Ahi Tuna. Everything tastes great. It’s very small inside however, so everyone is on top of each other. I came with a group of 5 and they had to sit us in the middle of the room where it felt like we took up most of the dining area. Regardless, I would go back.

Tried their 3 roll lunch special which comes with Soup and Salad. I’ve had better rolls but still very good value for the money so will repeat.

Close to work(Raritan), fast service, and very affordable for lunch. 3 rolls + soup + salad for 12 bucks — that’s a steal!

Masa sushi WAS one of my favorite sushi restaurants because of price and how close it was to where I live. Quality was good and half price menu very reasonable. Service was good but degraded as time went on. After a while the management became downright rude. I’ve brought my business to other sushi restaurants in the area. And I’m very pleased

This place USED to be good with the previous owners many years ago… I was there several times recently and I would tell you to stay away from this place and here is why… The quality of the fish is OK but not wow this is fresh… The rolls are small and fall apart which means they don’t know what they are doing. When you walk in the place a has a strong smell of fish which shouldn’t be if the fish is extremely fresh. Their oil in the fryer is rancid because you can smell it when you walk in also, even tempura items have a nasty rancid oil taste. I have been here a couple of times to have them redeem themselves and they have produced the same disappointment. What to do… Goto Mr. Pi’s in warren which is only about a 10 minute ride from this place. Its well worth it to go there b/c you get better quality food and its a better value. A $ 14.95 roll at this place is like a $ 6.99 roll at wegmans, but the sad part is the wegmans tastes fresher and is made correctly. A $ 14.95 roll or more will be a better value at Mr. Pi’s b/c the quality and size of the roll will be far superior to anything you will ever get at Masa.
