Dr. Hanif Butt.

Business Owner

Dr. M. H. Butt graduated in 1980 from University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree. He practiced Public Health Dentistry from 1980 to 1984. In 1985, he received a Master’s degree in Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health. From 1985 to 1986 Dr. Butt was a Research Fellow at the Department of Orthodontics in Indiana University. Later, from 1986 to 1988 he was a Post Doctoral Fellow at the Department of Orthodontics in the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. In 1988 he was awarded a Certificate in Orthodontics from Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Forsyth Dental Center. In 1991 he graduated Magna Cum Laude in D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Butt is a highly qualified Orthodontist with integrity and compassion for his patients and their needs. He is committed to providing his patients with comprehensive orthodontic care by utilizing the latest technologies in the field

Dr. Butt is a wonderful orthodontist, takes great pride in his work, and cares for each of his individual patients. He is a highly skilled professional, with an impressive amount of experience and knowledge, he dedicates much of his free time to innovation in orthodontics, attending conferences and seminars, he is never behind on the latest technological advances made. He has a top notch office, with state-​of-​the art equipment, and a warm and knowledgeable staff.
I would recommend Dr. Butt to any parent and/​or adult, he truly cares and does all he can to work out treatment plans for you.
I had the pleasure to work for him a few years ago, and seen many beautiful smiles walk out of his office! He’s great!

Dr. Butts was the only doctor who took our insurance when we started with the orthodontic process with my daughter in his Marshfield office. If your considering him, just pass by. His office is terribly run. His staff books his patients after school and they knowlngly book more then he can manage. Waiting an hour is a common experience. He has a VERY tiny waiting room and it is often unbearably full. To the point you would have to squeeze yourself up against a wall to let someone in to check in. The communication was terrible with him and several phone calls were never returned. The process for fixing her teeth was much slower then he said. One of his staff was mute and only grunted and pointed.
Finally, I got fed up and told them I wanted my records, I was leaving the practice because the office was run so poorly. People in the waiting room (its so little everyone knew what I said to the receptionist) began to cheer and call out their complaints.
I am a teacher and of my teen students went to the office and agreed, it was the worst.
We ended up going to another Marshfield Ortho (Dr, Judge). We just finished up the process (4 long years, 3 at Butts and 1 at Judge) and was pleased with Judge and I would recommend Judge. He and staff are the best. STAY AWAY FROM BUTTS.

Fantastic place, Everyone is Superfriendly and very knowledgeable about both dental care and the insurance to pay for it.
some notes:
— When I called to make an appointment they had a spot for me the very next day. Like others I picked the place for its location and its acceptance of many dental insurances. The first time i showed up we found out my insurance didn’t start til the next day, which they were happy to reschedule at a moments notice.
— The environment is very comfortable and state of the art. The xrays are all digital and not the ones that you have to bite down on that I despise. They even gave me topical anesthetic for the ultrasonic cleaning which i had never been given an option for before.
— They understand the costs of dental work and give pragmatic advice as to what needs to be done and when.
This place is absolutely wonderful and is definitely going to be my place of choice for my time in the greater boston area.

I used to live just down the street from here and would always giggle on my way back from the bar as I passed by the sign. Poor Dr. Butt. I’m told by a Pakistani friend that «Baht» would have been a better transliteration.
But it was the closest dentist that was covered by my insurance and as it turns out, they run a good shop here. Everyone is friendly and smart and won’t hesitate to discuss pros and cons with you when you have a choice about something. I actually don’t mind going to this dentist!

In my search for a reasonable dentist, I stumbled upon Dr. Butts. Its true, it was the name that got me in the door.
But man, Serious Technology.
It is also a bit like a teaching clinic. Dr. Butts is very knowledgeable, teaches at Harvard, is quick and gentle. His staff is very nice (sometimes not speaking English as he does a lot of teaching with international students)
its not cheap, but that’s orthodontics for ya, and I’ve not had a miserable vibe any time I’ve gone. All of the children in the waitroom were strangely relaxed, or if they had issues, they were dealt with with a calm voice.
The only down sides are his hours — because of the teaching schedule and the practice in Waltham, he and his staff is not at this location very often. Also sometimes the computer crashes and it take a long time to reboot. But I blame Microsoft, not Dr. Butts, for that one.
