The optometrist withholds prescription info so that you can’t buy lenses/​frames outside.
Has the worst collection of frames.

If you 2 hours to spare at the doctors office, this is the place. Very long wait, should’ve done my research instead of picking the closest location.

I’ve had nothing but a good experience here getting both glasses (Gucci frames) and contact lenses. I have pretty tough astigmatism so the getting fit with soft contacts took a few visits but we ended up with a great fit. My wife uses it too and got some awesome glasses in no time at all.

If you have too much time and have no life, then this is the place for you! Expect very very slow service and nothing but the oldest office system you have seen. Sign your name at the front desk but then they forget about you even though you’re sitting in front of them in the waiting room. Then fill out some manual paperwork so they can file it away in their dusty old filing system. Literally, nothing is computer operated in this office. I mean I guess if it’s not broke don’t fix it? But honestly this causes a huge delay in their service. If you’re here to see the doctor expect about an hour wait. If you’re here to pick up contacts expect a 20 minute wait. If you’re here for glasses expect a 30 to 45 minute wait. If you value your time, steer clear of this place. However, I did give them one extra star because they do offer cheaper glasses and a majority of their staff is very friendly.

I want to first note that all of the people that work here that i’ve encountered are very lovely. Both eye doctors are very kind and the women who help you pick glasses are very nice and helpful. This is why i’m giving them 3 stars instead of 2
The 2 stars is for how inefficient this whole office is. It is a guarantee that you will be waiting in the office for at least 20 – 30 minutes past your appointment time before you are seen by the doctor.
The first time I got glasses from this eye doctor, it went pretty smoothly (from what I remember). In regards to getting my glasses this time around– it has been a huge pain. I first called the front desk and asked for my prescription so I could order some new glasses online. I was told by the lady that she couldn’t give me my perscription for another 4 days until the doctor was back in the office, I was very confused why this wouldn’t be readily accessible information– don’t they keep this stuff on file somewhere??? Then, when I finally went into the office to just get my glasses through them because it seemed easier, I was told the frames would be in in a week. 2 weeks later– I still haven’t heard from them, so I called. The woman told me they had boxes of frames that came in that they hadn’t even looked through yet, so maybe my frames were in there. Low and behold– they were, but she didn’t call me back until 7 pm that night and she couldn’t remember which frames were mine and needed me to verify. When I called back to verify, the woman who puts in the lenses had already gone home for the weekend (this was on a Thursday) so I wouldn’t be able to get my glasses until Monday.
Today being Monday– i’m pretty eager to get my glasses (I’d like to be able to see). Haven’t heard anything from the doctor and it’s noon. So I call and ask if my glasses are ready, and they are. It would have been nice if someone from the office called me and told me this, instead of me having to hunt them down.

I’ve been going to see dr Titelbaum for 3 years — so three appointments. Dr t is the only optometrist I’ve ever been satisfied with. And he is really nice and easy to talk to. Would definitely recommend.

If you’re looking for a smooth experience, don’t go here. I tried to come here as my first appointment after I moved from NY. I explained my situation, and was told on the phone I didn’t need to transfer my records. I wore my glasses to my appointment as I always have in NY. When I showed up, I was told they couldn’t see me without my records, and I couldn’t have a contact lens evaluation without having worn them to the appointment (no one told me that, either). When I tried to get a release of records form, they didn’t know what it was. Um, what??? Needless to say, I’m going somewhere else.

Here’s the thing… the doctor I had who did my eye exam was very nice, Dr. Roberta Feraco. However, after the actual exam, everything went downhill… the people in reception are not on top of stuff. Once I had my prescription for glasses and contacts, I needed the glasses prescription to be sent to the store where I was buying my glasses. It was a nightmare. Calling back and forth, no fax… no fax… no fax. Finally I got them to send it to me and I faxed it myself. Months later the same thing happened with the contacts prescription. Its frustrating to not be able to use your prescription. When I’ve been in the office, there is a normal flow of traffic, it shouldn’t be a big deal to just fax a document. The office is not new, so I dint think they have scanning capabilities, so fax it is. The first few faxes were illegible… ugh, I’m getting stressed just thinking about it. Not worth the time. I’d rather have a worse doctor experience but be able to move on with my life and get contacts than have a super nice doctor and support staff who can’t do a thing right…

This is the second time I’ve been to Eye Associates of Somerville, and I have always had a positive experience. The staff is friendly, and the doctor is excellent. Although the décor is hokey (hey, it’s charming), the equipment is state of the art. They have a solid selection of frames, and I was happy to purchase my glasses there.
If you live in East Somerville, I can’t imagine why you would go anywhere else.

This place is cool! My doctor is real nice, and she explains everything she is doing.
Although once I came here with an eye infection as a semi-​emergency, the guy (not my usual doc, she is a WOMAN!!) took one look at it and said, «Get your ass to Mass Eye & Ear!» Well, he didn’t say «ass…»
Anyways I did need medical attention stat, more than they were able to give me, but I don’t think it warranted an ER visit… especially not one that took a 5 hour wait in the waiting room to see a doctor. What in dee fukkk? Yeah, it was bad, but all I needed was someone to prescribe some antibiotics.
BUT they take good care of you here. It’s a cramped little office, kind of funny with all the paper files hanging everywhere, but they have a nice little waiting room with maggies and one of those little play tables for the kids with the blocks and what-​not.
Also whenever I come for an appointment it gives me an excuse to go back to TACO LOCO, homes!!! SIBON!
