I considered building my own closet but in the end decided to go with Closet Solutions. Their prices were much more reasonable than other designers and the installers were pros. Well worth the money.
Steve was my designer and had a few great ideas that really made it even more special. The owner supervised the process to ensure a satisfied customer.
I would use them again in a heartbeat.

They did a good job with one project, but when contacted about another project they never got back to us. They then said there was a staff medical issue, but we again didn’t hear anything for nearly one month. Going somewhere else.

We’re remodeling our master bathroom and will lose our bedroom closets in the process. With windows and doors on every wall, we needed a custom solution to replace the old closets. Steve came to the house and was great. He assessed the storage in our our current closets and designed a beautiful custom built-​in closet that worked around the window on the wall and perfectly met our needs.
I met with another local competitor and their designs were not nearly as creative. They couldn’t assess our storage needs or ensure that their design would hold everything it needed to. The product looked and felt cheap. But their price was 150% of the price at Closet Solutions!
My sincere thanks to Steve for doing such a beautiful job at a reasonable price. The installation crew was polite, left the room in beautiful shape and the closets are fantastic! I highly recommend them!

I had read good things about Closet Solutions and they are very close to home, but I had a terrible experience. Our first appointment had to be postponed by them. At the time of the rescheduled appointment, no one showed up so I called. They had forgotten (!), but were able to come right over. Then I waited two weeks for a proposal, but none came. When I contacted them, they said there had been vacations and illnesses. Why didn’t they call me to update me? I waited another two weeks, but still no proposal. I hired another company.

Closet Solutions created a walk in closet for me, and a reach in closet. They did a fantastic job. Steve Nickse came and measured, asked lots of questions to understand how we use the space, and designed the perfect closet. He handled one problem with a delightful touch of whimsy. He also matched the wood and hardware to that of an adjacent bathroom; something that didn’t occur to me, but that looks fantastic! The computerized plans were excellent, and he easily incorporated changes then sent the plans back. I highly recommend this company.

My husband and I were hoping to convert a small extra bedroom into a walk-​in closet. We had several other companies come in for consultations, and the quotes we received back were ridiculously high for what we were requesting. So high, in fact, that I thought this dream would not be realized.
Cut to me remembering Closet-​Solutions. Melanie was our sales representative. She listened to a extremely detailed description of what I wanted and what our needs were, and she listened even more carefully when I told her what our max budget was.
Not only did she deliver an amazing CAD drawing that detailed every bit of what our future walk-​in would look like, she came in under our max budget price, allowing us room for fun upgrades on hardware and add-​ons that would not have been possible from other companies (namely, 1 big box store and 1 EXTREMELY popular and well-​known custom closet solution company.)
Melanie helped us through a few rounds of minor revisions and made sure we were happy and satisfied with the final mock-​up prior to signing off.
Within 2.5 weeks of our initial consultation, I had a fully installed walk-​in closet, made from extremely sturdy materials, with fantastic bells and whistles (like a lined jewelry drawer!) The installation process took under 4 hours and the gentleman who installed it was very friendly. This entire process was ideal and now I spend my days rolling around on the floor of my walk-​in closet. Dream come true!

We worked with closet solutions to build a custom walk in closet and an organizer in reach in closet. We were working with a very small budget and knew we would be limited on what we could get based on what we wanted. I did the research on IKEA, Elfa and Martha Stewart (Home Depot) closets and closet solutions came out best for price and ease. Heidi came to my house and took measurements, sent the proposed plans within 4 days and was responsive to my email questions. We were happy with their price and that it included installation.
I was not there for the installation (my husband was). If you are nit picky like me, i’d recommend being there for the installation. The closet set could have been hung higher in my room.
Overall we are happy we went with closet solutions.

Heidi (the designer) took INCREDIBLE care in putting together a design that was just right for our space, our clothes, and our preferences. The price was reasonable, and better than other vendors (who didn’t spend ¹⁄₁₀ the time that Heidi did). And Heidi and Jackie (owner) tolerated a bombardment of questions from me as I made my final decision. I explored a handful of other vendors. Closet Solutions had the absolute best design and they were a pleasure to deal with.
The back-​end of the process was just as good. Installation occurred the day that it was scheduled. The two installers were highly skilled, very professional, and really nice guys. Last but not least,…the closet, its material, finishing, and installation were very high quality. I really love it. I have no criticisms, not even a minor one. I highly recommend this company.

I worked with Closet Solutions owner Steve Nickse to create a fabulous 14 foot wide unit for my bedroom. I saw a photo in an architectural magazine of a stunning wall wardrobe –it was in blond wood and with frosted glass fronts. I tore out the photo, gave it to Steve, and after a couple of weeks of back and forth computer (CAD) drawings we came up with the perfect design. It took a few weeks to fabricate and one full day to install. It’s stunning and functional – just perfect. It was also less expensive than California Closet Company, and it was custom; unlike having to make standard units work in your space, Steve takes your space and builds from scratch – with better quality than the national chains. For the last four years, I get nothing but rave reviews and «who made that gorgeous unit? I want to hire them!» (which a number of friends have done)
The thing that really made «buying local from a small company» come home for me was when I noticed that, after four years, one of the drawers wasn’t staying closed. I called Steve and we set an appointment for him to come by and take a look the next week. When he looked at my unit, he said «We’ll get that fixed, but I don’t like the way the bookcase section is looking. We need to reinforce that too». So, a week later, one of Steve’s installation guys showed up, put new runners on the drawer that needed attention and put a support on the bookcase section as well as checked out the entire unit for any other issues. Steve charged me nothing Zero. He stands by his product.
When I said to the installer who showed up last week. «It’s great when a company fixes something after four years. He just laughed and replied «Steve has sent me out to fix installs he did 20 years ago! He fixes his installs. Period»
The low stars reviews below have both been for lack of getting proposals back. I didn’t have that issue, but if I’m making a decision between a slow proposal and a great product that will be fixed forever, I’ll take the later. Steve is sort of a old hippie. You need to flow with it. It’s worth it. His products are fabulous and he’s a great guy. When you get your product in your home you will love it, and just as importantly you won’t have to worry about anything going wrong. Steve will fix it. Period.
I highly recommend Closet Solutions without any reservations at all. They are great.

I used to walk by this place every day and it got us thinking about getting more space from our existing closets. We called and after some haggling got a date and time that they could come out and take a look. The associate that came was really nice and asked a lot of great questions and got us very excited about what could be done with our space. It was like she really understood our needs and budget and was going to work some magic. This was on the 10^th of March. We then waited one week, then two, and so I made a phone call. They said they had our drawings worked up and were just getting pricing. So we waited a week, then two so I stopped in one day and they said almost done. So we waited a week and nothing…
In the meantime we asked another closet company (still locally owned) to come and give us a quote. A week later we had the drawing and pricing and had scheduled the install. Six weeks after starting with Closet Solutions and we now have four great closets installed and are still waiting to hear from Closet Solutions. Not sure if they are so busy providing awesome closets to everyone else that they could not get to us but it seems like when you have a ready and willing customer that you would do everything you could to get their business. I will update this post if I ever get a quote from them and let everyone know how it compares to the other excellent company we used.

Closet Solutions was easy to work with and very responsive. Steve was able to design a closet that made the most of our space, was fairly priced, and was installed quickly and without any mess.

I bought an old house with old closets. I am so happy with my new closets. Both with the design and quality. Nicks designs were the best, making great use of every space in them. I even had some old built– in drawers in the closet that were retrofitted with new drawers to match. The installers were also very nice, efficient and even cleaned up after themselves. I hired many people to do jobs throughout my house. This company is one I would hire again and recommend to anyone. I can’t say that about half of the workers I have hired in the past.

We had a wonderful experience at Closet Solutions of Somerville. We recently moved to the area, and needed matching desks made for a smaller office space than we had had previously. Steve the owner, came to our new office space and helped us create two new matching desks custom made to fit our space. I particularly like «curves» which gave the pieces a more contemporary look. We were able to design the new desks with curves that look great. The entire custom made furniture was delivered and PROFESSIONALLY installed about three weeks after placing the order. Excellent!

Thank you so much for the beautifully-​designed closets for the bedrooms in our new home. We are thrilled with the materials & the efficient, attractive designs. Every item seems so solid and well-​constructed. Each closet you designed really makes the best use of the space. I know we are going to enjoy them for many years.
A special note of thanks to Peter & Anthony who did the installation. Anthony worked on the installation of the master bedroom walk-​in closet that had light fixtures but no bulbs. Except for a little hallway light, he literally installed the master closet in the dark!!! It’s so perfect, I can only imagine what he can do when he has light! Peter was very considerate in explaining how long the team would be on site and answering all my questions. He also carefully explained how to install a bench that couldn’t be attached to the wall until the hardwood floors were laid. The space where they worked was cleaned up so well, they are now the cleanest parts of my house (while it is in the final stages of construction).

So I’ve been into Closet Solutions twice and while the people are nice, they failed to do anything for me. I was interested in having a bed frame with drawers made for me. Both times I went in, I explained in detail what it was I was looking for. Both times I was told that I would get a quote in a week or two. Both times no quote was delivered. I never heard anything back from them. I like to support local businesses when I can, but after the second failed attempt, I ended up buying a bed frame from Jordan’s. Nice people but they failed to deliver.
