We are a boutique, family-​run winery in Fair Play, a tiny appellation in El Dorado County, in the Sierra Foothills of California. Our wines are created by classical methods seldom seen today. We are recapturing the art of making wine that can benfit from long-​term cellaring, and the crafting of food-​friendly style, reclaiming wine’s rightful place on the dinner table.

Business Owner

The venture, founded by Rich and Christine Rorden with the support of their family and friends, is an outgrowth of a long-​time, multi-​generation, home winery. It has the benefit of the Rorden family’s many years of experience in making exceptional Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz, and other varieties of fine wine. Upholding the same values and methods used to make the family’s private stock, Cantiga Wineworks intends to make this wine of rare quality available to the fine wine enthusiasts of the local, US and, eventually, Canadian markets.
