Came in as an emergency appointment after my daughters’ guinea pig became ill. Sadly be didn’t make it but Dr Aaron and the rest of the staff were wonderful and patient with my daughters. They answered all of their questions and gave them plenty of time to say goodbye. It was a sad experience but the kindness of the staff made it easier on everyone. Would highly recommend.

I have been taking my pets here for several years, but have recently begun searching for a new vet. I like the vets and I like the staff. The primary thing making me leave is their pricing. They are well known as the most expensive vet in Southern Maryland. If you ask for an estimate so you can budget a visit they throw every possible diagnostic test and preventative available on the estimate and you have to negotiate with them on which things your pet actually needs to get the price within reasonable territory. My daughter’s 3yo male cat is a very healthy, neutered indoor-​only cat. After going in and talking to the staff she is able to get the visit down to ‘only’ $ 150.00 for a well-​pet check and vaccine updates.
As a secondary issue, they still declaw cats here. Paying too much money for a vet who does an elective surgery which is harmful to healthy pets has gotten to be too much for me.

I must say I have to disagree with most of the reviews displayed here. I feel as if the previous reviews went overboard. With the things they are describing they are unhappy with, I would think that would be routine with any visit. Isn’t it customary to go to a restaurant and they let you know about all of the specials whether you want them or not? Isn’t it customary that when you go to an optometrist, they tell you about all of the lenses and the add-​ons whether you want them or not? It is no different when bringing your pet to the vet. It is their job to tell you everything they feel is necessary and everything they think you may want your pet to have. I’m sure that if they skipped all of this information, the people here complaining would be the first ones once again complaining that they were not offered services and were not offered information concerning their pet. It is your responsibility as a patron, to accept or deny any of their suggestions. Once again, this is their job to provide you with the most information and services available.
My mom has had nothing but pleasant experiences here, especially with Dr. Edwards. They know my mom on a first name basis and are always more than willing to help. I am now bringing my pet there, and once again they are bending over backwards to do everything possible for us. While I was disappointed to hear that Dr. Edwards was not doing my cat’s surgery, Dr. Ausenbaugh was nothing less than amazing. She updated me on my cats status during surgery, including a picture of my cat in recovery, she called me every step of the way to make sure I knew what was going on and to approve or deny any other decisions concerning additional findings. I couldn’t ask for more. Additionally, she called me to let me know that the major procedure I was bringing my cat in for, upon full examination, she then found to be unnecessary at the time! She saved me hundreds of dollars when she never had to. Honesty goes a long way. The staff and doctors alike are very nice and willing to answer all questions. I certainly feel like the people who posted negative reviews are probably jilted about life in general lol but that’s just my OPINION. Solomons Vet, I appreciate all you do. Thank you!

Not for us – I have a hard time going to a vet that audio and video tapes every clients move in their place and it’s not overly apparent that they are doing it. Why? If they need to keep that close of an eye on their employees, there is a problem. And if they need to keep that close of an eye on me, then that’s an even bigger problem. We have been a couple times for convenience (after hours etc) and just have never got a warm fuzzy from the vet staff that eeked knowledgeable or leading edge care. I went in several times with local friends who had to put their beloved pets down for health reasons and could not believe the cold fish that was there for that event. Never ever would I go through that or deal with a vet that was that detached at that moment in time. Three Notch (Dr. Feldhaus) is simply over the top with care and compassion in that type of need for support… and I’m sure there are others in the area. If you don’t believe me… just ask to see the video tape.

Great place to take the furry ones, techs and docs are great, prices are ok but it’s the vet industry. Just think of what you would have to pay if you had no medical insurance. It’s all a scam and comes down to the quality of care and knowledge of the doctors in treating them right the first time and Solomons Vet sure does have it.
