Winners Circle Resort

They were horrible front desk ppl. they told us on the phone that they would let us check in early when we arrived there they would not! They also charged my bank account over $ 400 for one night when I called up there to have this problem resolved they were very rude and hung up on me and did nothing so now I have to wait till my bank opens up during the week to resolve this problem. If you’re planning on staying there plan on having a lot of money being held out of your bank account! I will never stay there again!

Stayed here for a week with my wife and 11 month old son. It was a great place for my son they had a pak and play for us. He really enjoyed the salt water pool! The room was freshly remodeled and more than accommodating. Parking was a breeze and all of the staff was very pleasant and helpful. It was nice to have Starbucks coffee every morning! The onsite laundry facility for guest was a blessing to have with a little one. This hotel is near the freeway for easy access to seaworld, zoo, Safari park! It was also near Del mar, Solana beach and Encinitas that offers lots of places to eat and shop

Wow! Beautiful hotel, especially for the price! Everything from the lobby, to the pool, to the room was really clean. They let us check in 30 mins early, we stayed for 4 nights and 5 days. I took my 7month old baby with me and I was so happy that our room was clean and comfortable. Didn’t have any problems at all, most of the other guests were a older couples, everyone was respectful of rules and noise levels. Jacuzzi & pool closed until 10pm, they also had a fire pit to sit by until 10pm. I was really impressed by the kitchen, which was stocked with EVERYTHING. Pots, pans, toaster, blender, all kitchen utensils, plates, dishwashing soap, Everything. They had extra pillows in the room as well. Free parking & free coffee in the lobby were a plus. All major San Diego attractions were about 25 mins away, Not too bad. Our room had 2 bathrooms, a living room, kitchen, room and walk in closet. This resort exceeded my expectations. I don’t leave a lot of Unilocal reviews but this one for sure deserved and 5 star review

We stayed here for a week in the one bedroom unit. It was a decent unit and clean but the bed was so old and extremely uncomfortable. We would wake up everyday with our backs hurting from that awful bed. The air conditioning unit was very loud in the bedroom and didn’t seem to work that well throughout the night. Also, we could hear every footstep of the people in the room above us. We also had ants in the kitchen and one of the bathrooms. The location is ok and the large patio is nice but overall we wouldn’t want to stay there again.

I was here for a 2 day weekday stay for business and it did not disappoint. I can say the room was too big for one person — having two bathrooms was entertaining at first. Looks like it’s also a timeshare and caters to an older crowd.
Wifi signal was strong enough to stream movies with no issues. No laptop desk but the round dining table worked fine. Kitchenette with blender, toaster and utensils. Separate living room from the bedroom. Balcony with ash tray for the smokers. Jacuzzi goes off late evening and there’s a regulation size pool table and TV in the game room.
Close proximity to the fairgrounds with two gas stations and two restaurants (Fish Market $$, Red Tracton $$$) literally next door, plus a Denny’s.
For the craft brew heads, take a $ 5 über to Beerworks in Solana Beach. Ate at Coastal Kitchen at the Hilton across the street. twice (smoked salmon flatbread and ck burger with fried egg). Also check out Curious Fork for breakfast.
Oh, and a shot out to Betty at the front desk for excellent customer service.

I’ve been meaning to write a review for this exceptional resort. My family has been staying here for a few nights in August for the past 3 years now as we have a annual family reunion and are avid Del Mar racetrack participants too. And I gotta tell you this modest resort is
A TRUE GEM in Del Mar ! From the monent you check in you feel welcone. Mostly thanks to Rachel, at the front desk. She is very thoughtful, personable, professional and accommodating …

The rooms are CLEAN newly renovated studios and one bedrooms fully eqipt with Everything you could need .They also all have access to private, nice sized balconies or patios .The parking is ample and close to the rooms and the grounds are well kept and very lush feeling, comfortable and clean. There is a nice pool and Jacuzzi, and sizeable area to grill and gather for and outdoor bbque .This year we used this area for just that… And there was about 20 of us ! It was private and great bonus .The perks to Winner’s Circle are endless. .Every year our reunion grows And every year we will look forward to our visit here .I would recommend Winners Circle to anyone looking for a more homey down to earth feel… oh and another added bonus, There’s is an Excellent restaurant, Red Tractons, literally attached to the property and the hotel also provides some shuttle service too… Thanks Winner’s Circle ! Everyone knows that San Diego County is one of the best vacation spots in the U.S.
A real gem of a place to stay while in San Diego is Winners Circle Resort located just 20 minutes north of the city in Solana Beach, directly across the street from beautiful Del Mar Race Track. The resort recently renovated all of it’s rooms including all new furniture, TV’s and a redesigned kitchen. There are little things as well, such as two plugs in all of their lamps so that you can charge multiple electronic devises at one time without having to move furniture to find a plug. They have a great pool area as well as three excellent BBQ’s and picnic tables. Some of the best beaches in California are 10 minutes from the resort. The resort has a shuttle bus that will take you to and from the race track for only $ 2.00 each way. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful. Two excellent restaurants share the parking lot and major shopping is less than 5 minutes away. If you are considering a vacation in the San Diego area Winners Circle should be on your list.

We LOVE LOVE LOVE staying at the Winner’s Circle Resort in Del Mar! With four children, there is always something to keep them entertained. From playing pool, to swimming, jacuzzi, ping pong, tennis, the beach, and we walked across the street to San Diego County Fair!!! Fun, fun, fun!!! Thanks to a nice and helpful staff!

I stayed at The Winner’s Circle Resort last night and was not expecting much but it well exceeded my expectations. The room was spacious and very comfortable and even had a kitchen! I would highly recommend the this hotel to anyone looking to stay-​cation in Del Mar. The staff was also pleasant and delightful.

We stayed at the Winners Circle Resort for the first time this week, logging a 6 day stay, booked via Expedia. We found the property to be affordable, peaceful, clean, and convenient.
We spent our time visiting family further north, at the beach in Del Mar, downtown, and visiting the zoo. Everything was close, and outside of rush hour, traffic moves quickly.
We were looking for a true one bedroom option, so we could put our 3 year old to bed at 8 pm, and have a living room to hang out before we turned in. We had not realized that this was a vacation condo property until we arrived, but never got a sales pitch. The few staff we encountered were friendly and laid back. We stopped by the nearby Albertson’s to grab our essentials. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with pots, pans, strainers, and microwavable dishes, and storage containers for leftovers.
The housekeeping staff is minimal, but oh so honest! Our beds were made and towels refreshed daily, but the carpet wasn’t vacuumed once during our stay. We tried to tip for several days without success, before someone realized the money WAS a tip for housekeeping, even though we used the envelope provided just for that purpose.
A couple words of warning — the free wifi was pretty tragic. Luckily we have good mobile data plans with hotspot capabilities. We could have used a better connection to stream our Netflix/​Hulu/​Amazon/​HBO Go video content. Our kiddo could not understand why she couldn’t watch Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood on the iPad.
There were one or two other young children there, but the crowd there seems to be retirees. We enjoyed the serenity immensely, but mention it, in case others are expecting a «family resort» vibe. Hopefully we didn’t annoy too sunning seniors with our loud giggles over at the children’s pool!

Stayed here 2 nights.
Negatives:
–clack of security. Exterior doors to the buildings are not locked and 90 percent
Of the time I walked by the front desk, no employee was there.
–kitchen faucet was very loose. Thought it was going to fall into the sink.
–very noisy air vent in master bedroom, loud clicking noise.
–black looking mold on bathroom was next to tub.
–ceiling walls are very thin, could hear occupants walking above. Had requested
Second floor, however was told none were available.
–front desk woman was not friendly at check in. No name badge worn, not sure
what her name was or why she was so snippy.
Positives:
–nice room, nice plush towels, nice fully stocked kitchen.
–very nice private patio area and pool area.
–modern room.
–good location.

This hotel is pretty clean and pretty nice it seems like they just did some upgrades but the furniture in the rooms is like IKEA type quality the TV is a little funky and the mattresses are superhard but that comfortable at all but for the price is not so bad it looks fairly safe and clean

We have stayed here a few times and each time they have made more and more improvements. The place looks great and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need for a weeks stay, If you get an updated unit. (they are ¾ done with the update.) We are really thinking of buying a unit here. It isn’t on the beach about 4 blocks, But it is across the street from Del Mar Race track. They have a shuttle buss if you want to go to the races (if they are going on).

Really enjoyed this location. If you are a tennis player make certain to visit next door to the tennis club — it’s free. Willie and Matt are excellent tennis pros. The race track is a short shuttle ride away. Red Tracton is also on the lot — an old school bar and restaurant. Not the greatest, but very convenient. The pool and spa are salt water and the workout room is well equiped. The fire pit is well attended at night. The rooms were well appointed, but the wireless was weak and the TV (sorry, I had to watch my college football team play) had limited HD channels. If you have the opportunity, go to the Belly Up bar — great music venue; Bull Taco — an outside taco bar with good food and great views; Pacific Coast Grill for great seafood right on the beach.
We are looking forward to our next trip to this resort.

Hi again. I responded to your message. Our parking guards are also security guards – that may be the confusion. We do not have a separate company for security. On weekends, the parking guards are here until 11pm. Every day we also have our own night person, who patrols the property, from 9:30pm to 5am.

Based on my reviews below all… OBVIOUSLY these «security guards aka parking guards» are not doing either job and WE the unit owners are paying for them! We are all getting ripped off!!! Absolutely no excuses for the misconduct and blatant laws being broken in our own parking lot! All I am getting here are excuses and the resort is Manager is making excuses. WOW!!!

You missed the whole point of my review and conveniently skipped over the facts. YOU told me when I checked in that there would be security in the parking lot on Opening Day of the race track for The Winners Circle. That was not true.
There was a man at one of the 3 driveways into the parking lot standing there «watching» cars pull in. He stopped no one, didn’t check for a parking passes, didn’t warn people not to park there if they didn’t belong there, etc… There was no one on the west side of the building next to the Red Tracton where a majority of the parking infractions occur monitoring ANYTHING, not the parking issues not the drunk patron issues, nothing.
Yes I am well aware that the other business patrons have the «right» to park in the designated spaces but that was not what was happening. Several Winners Circle designated spots had cars parked in them by people with no parking pass and that parked and walked to the race track or to the Red Tracton. THEY WERE ILLEGALY PARKED AND THE SO-​CALLED SECURITY DID NOTHING! Having 2 – 3 security people on weekends is great but opening day of ALL race days warrants EXTRA security, there essentially was NO security on Opening Day, that was one of my major points.
I am not unhappy with the crowd during opening week, I am unhappy that year after year since the previous manager left, management has not been honest or forthcoming in the manner in which the parking fiasco during the week is handled and/​or monitored. The lip service that is given to timeshare owners is inexcusable. Now not only is there a parking nightmare, the drunk patrons are too out of control — why — no security to be seen or heard from anywhere yet you proclaim there is security which it completely untrue.
I should not have to give up my ownership week there as you offer, you should take this incident and do something about it out of respect for the resort. I don’t think people want to read that during race season, the parking lot at Winners Circle is now a bathroom and drug lot for drunk patrons.

I am really torn on whether to call this 2 or 3 stars because I feel like it’s a solid 2.5. I’m going to round down on this one and call it 2 because of our exit experience, we’ll get to that shortly. We booked this hotel for the location as we were running the La Jolla Half Marathon and wanted to be able to walk to the start to save ourselves from dealing with parking. We got in on Saturday afternoon and were greeted and checked in by a really nice, helpful guy (sorry I don’t remember your name helpful guy — but you were wearing a purple shirt!). We chatted while he got us checked in, during which time I mentioned that we were running in the morning and needed to know if we could have a late check out as the race run from Del Mar to La Jolla Cove, then you have to take a shuttle back and the whole thing could take a while. He seemed surprised that there was a race happening the next day, which I found odd because it literally ran on the street in front of the property — the street would be closed. I’m sure they’d been made aware. Anyways, he popped in the back and came out a few minutes later to let us know that he’d checked with a manager and we could definitely have until 12 but if we needed any more time we’d need to call housekeeping by 12 to let them know. We thanked him, grabbed our keys and went over to our room.
The room itself looked like one of the «remodeled» rooms based on photos, though it was still a little dated. It was nice enough and clean though, so we were happy because we were there more for the location than anything. We decided to hit up the hot tub for a bit so we headed outside. I know this is not the fault of the property, but we got to the hot tub and there were about 5 people already in it and had a speaker playing off someone’s phone and it was literally the WORST music. I’m not kidding, they were listing to Sugar Ray, Smashmouth, Nickelback, any other awful 90’s band you can think of and it was LOUD. They were there first so I would have felt bad asking them to turn it down/​off, but a no music policy by the pool (which some resorts I’ve been to have) would have been much appreciated. Thankfully, they eventually moved over to the firepit and shut the music off so we were saved.
Once we got tired, we went in to go to bed and were happy to find that the bed was super comfortable. We slept like logs and before we knew it our alarms were going off to bother us to get up and get our shoes on because it was time to run! The location really was awesome, it was about a 10 minute walk to the start. We did our run, then hopped on the shuttle back to Del Mar. We were getting off the bus at the racetrack at about 11:40 and our goal was to get in the room before 12 to call and let them know we just needed another 20 minutes or so to shower, change and packup. I glanced at my phone as we were waiting at the light to cross the street and saw I had a missed call from the hotel, so I check my messages and it’s the hotel calling to say that they were expecting us to checkout at 11 and it’s now 11:40 and we aren’t checked out so please call them back as soon as possible. It’s not a very friendly message either, the woman sounds annoyed and rushed. Since we’re almost on the property anyways, my boyfriend heads back to the room to start getting cleaned up and I go to the lobby to figure out what’s going on.
I walked in to the lobby and a blonde woman comes out of the back and asks how she can help me. I start to explain that I got a call that we were supposed to have checked out, at which point she starts talking over me with a «yeah, that was me, I called you.» I explain that we asked about late checkout when we checked in and she replies «Oh, there weren’t any notes in your file. When will you be out?» Her whole demeanor was irritated and rushed so I tell her we just need like 30 minutes to get ready and get our stuff to which she basically says OK and physically moves away to go do something else. I headed back to the room, we got ourselves ready (super quickly) and just before 12:30 I’m putting the last of the stuff in the car so my boyfriend went into the lobby this time to request a receipt and let them know we were checking out. Apparently, she greeted him politely, but as soon as he explained what room we were in and that we were leaving she snapped right back into her attitude. He got the receipt and we got out of there. Unfortunately, based on our interactions with this woman, we wouldn’t consider staying here again which is too bad because we loved the race and plan to do it again next year.

Great Stay, twice! I stayed her in the Spring and the Summer. Both stays were great. I first had a 1-​Bedroom which was facing the nearby restaurant. My 2^nd stay, I was in a 2-​Bedroom facing the race track. Both rooms were remodeled versions. The 2-​Bedroom was great. Upstairs /​downstairs style unit. Very spacious and clean. Beach is about a mile walk up the road to the west. Race track is walking distance across the street. Shuttle service during track season. This is not a 5 star resort but if you know that going in and you stay in one of the remodeled rooms, then you’ll have a great stay. If you have high expectations and are used to staying at the Ritz, JW or W hotel, then you wont like it.
Great local breakfast spot is the Beachgrass Café. Highly recommended.

Place was nice.. Service sucked. Lady at front desk wouldn’t approved the discount from Unilocal btw she said i had to do it when i reserved the room. When the cupon clearly states to show it at front desk. and another thing… how can i use a cupon at the time of the reservation if the cupon is given when i CHECK IN: S anyway… she was probably not it the mood?
