Shawn Weber calm, professional, and empathetic temperament helped put at ease all my worries and concerns. My first contact to him was over the phone, when I first heard his warm and empathetic voice that is evenly matched in person. An attorney who prefaces the first meeting by saying «I am sorry that you are here today,» puts himself on the same level of understanding as his clients. His goal is to be mediator and attorney, while being completely fair to both sides. He helped me by illustrating the financial information specific to my case in an understandable format, is extremely well-​versed in family law, clearly interprets matters of spousal support and child support for families in unique divorce situations, and offers unrestricted time outside of meetings to answer questions. During a time when my mind was racing, I was not always prepared with a handy list of questions to ask at each mediation meeting. Shawn always responded promptly and fully to my voicemail and e-​mail messages.
Where choices of attorneys and divorce situations are in demand, I would highly recommend you contact Shawn and request a consultation. I would further urge you to reduce your burdens in what is already a very difficult time and allow Shawn to guide you in the process where you are still in charge and yet fed with the most complete law. Georgine Brave is a horrible, unethical attorney, She is a –0 star but, it does not offer that option. Don’t be fooled by the initial interview she comes off as a real «GO-​Getter» from New York and she says she hates to lose, she will tell you that your case is not that difficult and should not be more than the 3000.00 if that, for the uncontested divorces out there with no children or property to divide.
She told me one of her clients told her she was an «attorney from hell» she took that as a compliment But, I now know that was no compliment. She is only interested in billable hours and your money. I wish I would have seen these reviews before signing on with her. I am still on the books with her a year and half after the divorce has been final because of the QDRO process for the division of my retirement accounts. She did not do one thing for me to help me get anything in the divorce, My mooch of an ex husband who only worked for 4 of the 10 year marriage was able to run off with half of my retirement and most of my savings, and 95% of our belongings while I worked 13 – 14 hours a day to keep us above water.
The whole time I was preparing for the divorce hearing, Georgine would say don’t worry about all the stuff he wants, it’s just his «Wish List» he won’t get it. We get to court which is the 1^st time I meet her and she is 20 minutes late, I had already told the bailiff it looks like my attorney is a no-​show and just then, some sloppy dressed attorney in a real baggy leisure suit comes prancing in and it’s non other than Georgine Brave here to represent me. I had my entire case with me and I am thankful that I did, because she didn’t know my case at all.
I pretty much took over and did most of talking and she completely laid down and gave my ex husband everything on the wish list and I have paid her over 10,000 and still counting. She has made numerous billing mistakes, has tried to charge me late fee’s on stuff she never billed me for, she has made a bunch of mistakes on paperwork and then tried to charge me to make the corrections of her mistakes (my final divorce decree, was parts of somebody Else’s divorce) can you believe the audacity of this woman.
She volunteered to write up the final paperwork for the divorce hearing for my husbands attorney and then she turned around and charged me for it.
I am filing a formal complaint against her to get some of my money back for very poor and sub standard performance as an attorney.

My now-​ex and I hired Shawn Weber as a mediator to help us work out a divorce settlement. He was great, very patient, and got us to an agreement we could both live with for a fraction of the price of going to court. His billing was completely transparent — no surprises, just pay by the hour.
Once we came to an agreement and were ready to finalize things, Shawn switched from mediator to lawyer mode and things got kind of dicey. Shawn was still great, but the office seemed very disorganized. The paralegal screwed up the paperwork, deadlines got missed, the billing was all a mess. What should have been just a matter of signing some forms ended up getting dragged out much longer than it needed to, but in the end it worked out fine.

Although divorce is in no way a pleasurable experience, I must say that it’s been a pleasure working with Julie Mack, and her team, in the dissolution of my twenty-​plus year marriage. Julie came highly recommended to me by a successful, but «winding-​down» attorney, who no longer takes cases that have the likelihood of litigation. From the beginning, Julie was upfront with me about how the process would work, and the costs that I would likely incur. I was not disappointed. Throughout the process, I sensed that both Julie and her paralegal, Jodie, had my best-​interests in mind, both personally and financially. In multiple negotiation sessions with my ex-​wife, and her attorney, I witnessed Julie’s awesome skills in collaboration, as well as, an aggressive approach when defending my rights. I’m happy to say, that the result of this process, was a fair settlement for me, my ex-​wife, and my children. With confidence, I would recommend Julie Mack, and team, to anyone seeking an outstanding family-​law attorney.

I would like to most sincerely recommend Shawn Weber to anyone in search of an honorable attorney to represent them in their divorce proceedings. Shawn is very knowledgable in family law. In fact, he has extensive experience in handling highly complex high conflict resolution cases. Shawn has an extremely calming manner and has the ability to explain complicated legal matters easily. He’s able to point out what the opposing side may be thinking and gives clear foundation to any suggestions he makes. I found that if he says he’s pretty confident in something, he’s going to be right every time! Lol!
I had a previous attorney who was quite simply, horrific! That attorney is probably THE actual person who all lawyer jokes are based off of! He gives them a bad name for sure! All he did was make small disagreements into the next World War and run what should have been a speedy, small priced divorce case into nearly double the time frame and utter hell on earth, running us both into a six figure divorce case in attorney fees alone.
I seriously wished I found Shawn right from the start! He will hold your hand through out. He will take what may become a huge ongoing disagreement into a fast resolve. Basically, his other forte is as a true mediator. Additionally, he always made time for me. He handled me like I was a dear family friend, rather than just a number or billable hours. If I were to describe Shawn in one word, Id say he’s «fair!» He makes certain that what he’s asking of the opposing side, will agree to in the end, as its reasonable and makes good common sense. I would recommend Shawn to my best friend and family members!!! Oh, Ill also recommend my first attorney — to my worst enemy! Lol.
Call Shawn! You have nothing to lose in making a call. Gotta tell you, I bet it’s your last one too! Give him my name Rachel F., tell him you want to personally speak with me for a reference. I’m letting him know, that he can give me anyone’s number and Ill be happy to personally speak with them if they’d like!

I hired Mr. Weber a few years ago after interviewing around 10 – 15 attorneys. He was confident, and fearless. I had a difficult divorce including property in multi-​states, multi-​corporations, and an ex doing multiple fraud acts. Most other attorneys were so scared to take my case. Mr. Weber never once worried. He was wonderful and made my life so much better. He really knows what he is doing. Even as years went by, my follow up attorneys in other states, have mentioned how well Mr. Weber prepared and included necessary articles in my divorce that has protected me ever since.
Would highly recommend Mr. Weber.

One star is too many. Trust the reviews for Georgine Brave. She may have at one time been a good attorney but my experience clearly shows that she does not care about her clients only billable hours. Do not get fooled by the motherly compassion she shows at first meeting. That will be the last compassion you will see from her. After that it’s pay, pay, and pay with NO results, no caring, and no desire on her part to win. And if you don’t continue to pay, pay, pay she drops you.
Be forewarned, find another attorney.

We used Shawn Weber as our mediator when we both realized we were getting no where in bringing our divorce to conclusion. Mr. Weber did an excellent job in working with us (I might add we were a high conflict couple) to stay focused on the issues and find comprise. I found him to be very skilled and fair. As a result, we did get through the process. If you are looking for an alternative to the confrontational style of traditional divorce lawyers and going to court frequently, using the sevices of Mr. Weber will be very beneficial. It only works if both parties are willing to listen to his adive and wisdom.

I bet these disgruntled people didn’t listen to their attorney’s advice. If you are only interested in fighting with your ex, of course your attorney’s fees will increase. If you are interested in settling things fairly within the law, this firm is more than capable of serving your needs.

One star… if i could give zero I would. I do not even know what more I can say than what these other two people have posted to detour your from ever hiring anyone from this firm. They will over charge you, charge you for services you never received, send documents with tons of errors in them to the court, have no idea about your case, never return your phone calls etc… I can go on forever about why this firm should be shut down and the main reason is Georgine Brave herself. My ex-husband’s attorney even asked for sanctions against Georgine Brave because my ex husband’s attorney saw what a horrid job this woman was doing as an attorney. She does not know the law, does not know her clients, and does not care. She violates her fiduciary duty to her clients and needs to have her license to practice law pulled from her by the state. I even know of many other attorneys in the family law field who will not work with her and the firm and shudder at her name because they know what an awful attorney she is and what a shame it is that people like her are allowed to practice family law. Stay far away unless you like wasting your money, or better yet hire my dog he would do a better job at representing you during your divorce than she would.

I thought I was the only one who has experienced the arrogant and unethical practices from this lawyer. What started out as a simple child support review/​modification case has turned into nightmare for my family! Not only has Ms. brave charged me for over 4x the amount she initially agreed to handle my case for, but my repeated attempts to contact her to resolve the issue have been completely ignored, except of course, for the mounting bills with late charges that her office is so punctual about sending.
To ad insult to injury, she «lost’ my case in court, i ended up owing more child support than before and my ex wife got a good laugh when Ms. brave mis-​pronounced my name in the hearing! Ironically I went to Ms. Brave as a last resort because my ex was threatening me for more money, I my wife got laid off, I was on an unpaid medical leave from work, and we were close to losing our house. All the facts that Ms. brave was well aware of when we consulted her and gave her a budget we could almost afford. Apparently she had other intentions and aspirations than to serve her clients with integrity.
Time to call the State Bar I guess…

Whatever you do, no matter what you hear DO NOT see Georgine Brave for any kind of legal help with divorce or custody. I saw someone had written another bad review here on Unilocal,but chose not to pay attention because a friend really recommended her. Not only does she charge $ 400 an hour, yes an hour, but she truly is only in it for the money. She pretends (well, I might add) to believe in your cause and pretends she knows what she is talking about, but don’t believe her. I think the quote was: «You have had really bad luck and I want to help you so badly I can taste it.» This was after she advised me to threaten to sue my current lawyer for malpractice stating she would then take up my case. Sad thing is, since I sent the threatening letter to my lawyer, she has not returned one of my phone calls or emails leaving me in a worse position than when I started and $ 500 poorer. (Just a note that I am in a custody case in another city against an abusive, alcoholic, drug addict and truly have had bad luck and bad lawyers with the court system. It seems like a no brainer to me — you almost kill your kid, –twice– you shouldn’t have too many rights to them., but that’s me.)
Do not waste your time or money on Georgine Brave if you are going through divorce or custody issues. She will just bleed you dry and offer no real answers or support for you and your family.

If you are contemplating a divorce of any kind, do not hire Georgine Brave. I went into my divorce with blind faith and came out of it convinced that I can represent myself better than Ms. Brave. Do not let her name or experience fool you. Her name should change to Ms. Thief. Or Ms. I Can’t Remember My Client’s Name. Or I Review Cases During Consultation Hours, NOT Before. Or I Don’t Know My Paralegal’s Name. Or I Charge 60 Bucks for Five Minute Phone Calls.
In short, I gave her 5,000.00 to do nothing for me. I won’t get into the sticky details, but I will say that I figured out quickly that to her I was Ms. Small Potatoes, or Ms. Naïve, Or Ms. ‘What’s Her Name Again?‘
She will find a way to charge you for everything. She will not know the details of your case. She kept calling my husband’s million dollar home a «condo». Consistently. Her first paralegal quit on her. Her second paralegal laughed when I asked him if they were going to keep billing me after the case was closed. My husband died during the finalization process (eight months after initiating paperwork with Ms. Brave), never signed the papers, so now I’m a widow. And even though Georgine Brave isn’t an estate attorney, she charged me for a phone call from my dead husband’s first wife’s attorney. Seventy bucks for 20 minutes. I didn’t ask him to call her, nor did I ask her to represent me. I definitely didn’t ask her to bill me. I mean, come on, where is the love? Sometimes you give a little to people who are in the midst of a tragedy. Did you get my husband to sign the papers, Georgine? No. If you did, I’d be DIVORCED, not legally WIDOWED.
Ms. Brave didn’t want to close my case because she said she had to represent me in court to tell the court my husband was dead. She didn’t say that she was billing me for another $ 2,000.00 to do it. Luckily, Ms. Naïve (me) changed her name to Ms. You Can’t Screw Me Twice and hauled my widow ass to Family Court and took care of business without my fancy pants lawyer. Although the Family Court took a lot of time, if your divorce is cut and dry, (mine wasn’t until the terrible end) they actually will let you represent yourself and give you good advice on how to handle the paperwork. I only suggest this if you’re agreeing on everything and just want to finalize it quickly.
Georgine Brave’s been in business for something like 30 years. Ronald Reagan was good at what he did when he first started too. Take it from me, DO NOT sign on with her if you have limited income and you’d actually like to pay what a divorce is worth. I learned a few things this time around. Shop for someone who will advocate for you. Shop for someone who doesn’t treat you like a number. Bail if you see red flags. Bail fast because that meter with the retainer ticks in your freaking sleep. Do not always trust «word of mouth». What works for me may not work for you. Even if this person is your mother’s best friend, your therapist’s aunt, or your boss’s divorce attorney, DO NOT sign on and stay on if you feel like you are not important. In particular, if they don’t respond to your email, then RUN! Ms. Brave never responded to my written request that she review my case prior to meeting with me in person, and right then and there, I should have quit her. I wish I could have quit you, Ms. Brave.
