History

Established in 2008.

San Diego native Alexis K. Ayala garnered her most valuable training as an apprentice to Anastasia Soare, world-​renowned eyebrow artist to the Hollywood elite and founder of Anastasia of Beverly Hills; Soare is thought to be the «Eyebrow Guru» among scores of celebrities and film stars. Alexis K. believes that an ideally arched eyebrow can dramatically change the look of one’s face, she believes in shaping a fuller eyebrow, a more natural eyebrow.

Now, years later, Alexis and her team have expanded to offer an array of other specialty beauty treatments.

About 17 years ago, Soare offered Ayala the esteemed chance to study under her tutelage, offering her advanced instruction on what makes the flawlessly arched eyebrow.

I’ve been going to Alexis K’s for several years now. My service is usually the works package, although I have also gotten my makeup done there several times. I am always pleased with the results be that the works package or my makeup. Claudia is the person I normally go and she is great. If by chance she is is booked, I have no issue with going with any of the others as they are good as well. I love the atmosphere at the shop. It is always calming and relaxing. I have not had my eyebrows done by anyone else since I started coming here.

Wow! Alexis K’s staff is very well educated and very professional. They offer so many great services that other places do not. Alexis is amazing at brows, and Celeste is very informative about the Infrared Body Treatment. In fact, I just had one done and loved it! I’m using it for detoxifying, and other health benefits. If you haven’t done so already, check out Alexis K.

I have been going to Alexis K for many years. Alexis K is a warm and welcoming place!
I highly recommend Claudia, she is such a thorough professional and she is my absolute favorite aesthetician in San Diego. Love the «detox and glow facial» and the «works».
I gave them 4 stars as I am a sucker for great customer service and in my opinion this place doesn’t go above and beyond. I do feel that they should offer more specials to their loyal customers to retain their business.
With that said, I do recommend Alexis K, bit pricey but offer great quality and I highly recommend their services!

I have been coming to Alexis K for various services for about 2 years. Most of the time I book appointments for eye brow waxing and lash tinting. I’ve seen Mia, Brianne AND finally booked an appointment with Alexis. I’ve always been very satisfied with my services regardless of who I see.
TODAY I visited Celeste who gave me the most amazing spray tan. I haven’t had a spray tan in years… in my previous experiences I’ve always felt «orange» and I eventually just stopped trying spray tans. I couldn’t be happier with the results from today. Celeste was so nice and made me feel very comfortable about the process. It took about 15 – 20 minutes for the standard option (they offer an express option where you can shower much sooner) /​both services take the same amount of time. I am nearly 8 hours in and I have noticed the tan develop throughout the day. The color is very natural and even /​not blotchy or orange.
I’d highly recommend Celeste and Alexis K – there are a few other options for spray tans in my neighborhood BUT these are ladies you can trust to do an amazing job.

I came here a while back and forgot to write a review based off of my experience. I wanted the best of the best, so I did my research, and came across Alexis. She had so many great reviews, so I figured I’d splurge and book an appointment with her. The salon is not difficult to find; however, parking is terrible. I recommend making an early a.m. appointment, or an end of the day appointment.
They had a nice set up with snacks and drinks, but I was never once offered anything.
(I let my brows grow for about a month without plucking/​shaving/​tweezing them.)
When Alexis went to shape them she goes over what she does and what shape fits your face best. I have always had a slight arch to my brows and requested that I have one. She agreed and started to groom my brows with a spooly. After she shaped them, she tweezed the crazy hairs and applied her powder to give them a fuller, finished appearance. After looking in the mirror she handed me, I noticed she did not give me any arch what so ever, the powder was too dark, and she then harassed me to buy a ton of products– from the powder, to brow gel, to some brow crayon, and more. I was feeling uncomfortable, so I brought the powder to hopefully get out of there as fast as possible. My total was somewhere around $ 70 if I remember correctly. I was thinking to myself, «why in the world am I spending this when my service here was so terrible?»
All in all, I do not recommend this place. It was definitely not a good experience.

Alexis has her own technique for brows and just has the knack for knowing what looks right on each person’s face. She convinced me to let some grow (even though I was convinced she forgot to tweeze them) and I have to say that I’m completely impressed with the difference in the before and after.
I also had the pleasure of having a facial from Brianne. She has the perfect touch and was super intuitive on what my problem areas are. My skin is soft and glowing today!
An amazing experience from a high quality group of kind women. If you find yourself in need of a quiet little spa in the world where cell phones are not buzzing, women aren’t gossiping and the services are awesome … this is your spot!

Recently my friend, a loyal Alexis K client, referred me to Celeste for a spray tan. Celeste took time and care in listening to my preferences. Each time I left sun kissed. Both of my tans lasted more than 10 days. I highly recommend Celeste for a natural spray tan. You will be glowing inside and out!

I am a long standing client with Alexis K. And I will tell you that the new online booking system truly is a lifesaver. Case in point. Last night, I went to an event and had temporary eyelashes put in by my longstanding makeup artist. Unfortunately, she used a new adhesive which was pretty strong and I lost most of my beautiful natural lashes when I removed them when I came home. All I was left with a very short row of stock lashes. OMG! I was so sad and didn’t know what I could do. Then I remembered about Alexis K’s new online booking system. Desperate, I went online at 11pm and was able to book an appointment for this morning first thing at 10am. MIRACULOUS! Today, I saw Claudia and she was such a gem. She gave me such a beautiful set of natural looking lashes and made me feel great. I knew that I would need some extensions until my natural lashes could grow back in. She did such a great job, It was like I didn’t even lose my real ones. And, I love them so much, I am going back tomorrow for more. Let me tell you, Alexis K is truly a business that knows how to serve its clients. I feel beautiful and truly cared for every time I leave this place. Love you guys so much. Thrilled. XOXO

I went to Alexis K. salon a few weeks ago to get a spray tan from Celeste. I was leaving for a trip to Cabo, Mexico the next day and needed some color! I am a mom of two and still not back into the shape I would like to be, so getting a nice spray tan is one way for me to feel better in a bathing suit (but not something that I do often). Celeste made me feel SO comfortable! The tan was done in a private room, well ventilated, no stinky tanner smell. She listened to exactly what I wanted in regards to how dark I wanted the tan to be, etc. and did a fantastic job! Before I left, she gave me lots of tips to help the tan stay on as long as possible. I was super happy with the results and especially happy that the tanner she used had no lingering odor (which always happens with home tanner). Would come back again for sure! :)

I have gone to Alexis K three times now to make sure I was not basing my experience off one time. I have been getting my lashes tinted for years and was in search for a new salon after I moved here. During my first experience at Alexis k I hated how my eye lash tint was not in a private room. It’s very uncomfortable having your eyes closed and lots of random people in the same room, in the past I have always done it in a private room.
Overall, the tint job was not great I had to ask them to go back and fix things. The dye did not last very long and I felt that each time I went back the esthetician got more lenient and sloppy with her work.
Unfortunately this salon did not workout for me and my light lashes!

Today I got my brows tinted and waxed by Brianne as well as a microdermabrasion facial. Everything was perfect! My brows look great, and Brianne was concerned with helping me find the right skincare for my needs. She did an amazing job with the facial – I am glowing! Thank you!

I saw Celeste today for an air brush tan and had a great experience! The spa is beautiful and Alexis was very friendly. I have had spray tans before but this one was exceptional. Celeste was very nice and made me feel at ease. She gave me instructions and then helped with lotion on my hands and feet! She really took her time to make sure the tan was applied evenly. She even took extra steps to make sure the areas around my heels and wrists were blended. About 12 hours later my tan is a beautiful bronze and I don’t have any missed spots or weird lines. Looking forward to my next tan! I highly recommend seeing Celeste for your next spray tan!

What a fantastic salon and atmosphere! Alexis is a great owner who truly loves what she does! I just received my first air brush spray tan and it was incredible! Celeste was so personable and made the whole experience amazing! My tan is glowing, perfect shade — way better than a generic mystic tan. I’ve also had eyelashes put on here before a wedding and they turned out wonderful! I will always highly recommend this place for all their services! Thanks guys :)

I love Alexis K! I was one of those people guilty of over tweezing my brows. It took nearly a year to grow them out and I was very hesitant to have them waxed. In the past, most waxers had seriously overdone it or they didn’t come out the same. Leaving my brows super thin. Not at Alexis K. I saw Claudia and she gave my brows a thorough examination. She even measured to make sure that they were the same. My brows are now full and identical. I absolutely love them. I only gave four stars because Alexis K is a bit pricey. It’s true what they say, you get what you pay for. The price may be higher but you will have fabulous brows. I think it’s worth it. I will definitely be back to Alexis K and I won’t let anyone else touch my brows.

This is the only place I go for all my skin needs. I live in LA but only come here. Alexis is the ultimate pro with eyebrow waxing. I have a scar on one eyebrow and Alexis has the skills to make it disappear. Brianne and Mia give amazing facials and dermaplaning. My skin glows after every visit. Love it!

wow a very beautiful space. but, wow, i am certainly in the wrong profession! 60 (sixty!!!) bucks plus a 20% suggested tip for a 8 minute eyebrow tweeze!!! who can afford this? that is just embarrassing… seriously over the top overpriced. how do you ladies afford coming here every 4 – 6 weeks? I make good money and i can’t justify spending this. My friends in NYC do not even pay close to 60 $ for eyebrows. Good for you Alexis!
I only give 4 stars for the beautiful space. but the 60 dollar brow tweeze? what a silly expense, one day later and I am still in shock.

Everyone here is very nice and they do a good job but they are way way over priced. I still go back so I guess I have no right to complain but I feel they’d get a lot more business if they’d just lower the prices a little or offer specials to current customers. I only see Brianne once every 6 months because I just can’t afford to see her every 6 weeks when my brows need help. I get derma planing in Temecula for half the price and it also includes a mini facial. I’m alway so 50⁄50 on this place. I’ve never had a bad experience but they are just ridiculous with their pricing. I say all of this as I make an apt to see Brianne tomorrow lol.
Bottom line, if you can afford it, go. If not, there are other cheaper places that also do a great job.

I came here today and it almost did not seem like a place of business because the employees all seem happy to be here. The owner is very encouraging and supportive with her staff. I wish more place were run like this. The atmosphere is very relaxing. The salon feels very fancy but with out pretense. Great experience.
I will definitely be coming back to see San Diego’s top rated eye brow spa.
