Tubes Are Us in Kingvale is parent trap. It’s the first place you see driving up I-​80. But don’t stop there.
1) $ 10 to park and then they rudely make you park an extra hundred yards from the entrance because your honda mini-​van is «too big, making it a +200 yard walk with kids and gear.
2) $ 10 per person and parents must pay to watch their kids. Employees are trained to apologize.
3) Once you get in there are no tubes at Tubes R Us. You have to bring your own sled or dig a broken one out of the trash heap. Of course they will sell you a cheap one which is not likely to last the day.
4) You;ll have to un-​bundle to fill out their waivers so don’t dress for sledding at the car.
5) There is no tow rope or magic carpet. Its just a hill like many others in the area.
6) The hill is shallow and slow, not very fast or exciting. And if you do manage to gain some speed, the Tubes R Us police will put a damper on that.
7) After you walk back up the hill, there is a long line of sledders waiting to go down so you get to stand up there in the wind.
8) Thus, the kids got tired of the little hill and and were done in 30 minutes. Total cost, $ 50.
This place is a money pit and a parent trap. Sledders should drive a couple miles farther up the hill where there are a selection of better sledding and tubing parks.

We thought it was expensive and unfriendly.
It felt like a tourist trap
The kids said the hill was boring.

$ 10 for parking.. (How much do the resorts charge? $ 0)
$ 10 per person to sled the small hill. . OK
$ 10 per «pedestrian pass». Not OK .
For petty sake. Let parents walk their youngsters up to the top of the hill and take some pics.
And don’t use the insurance excuse. Because, the liability policy is not more costly to an operator if they allow a parent to help their kids.
In fact, it’s likely that NOT having parents on the hill increases the likely hood of insurance cost and accidents.
If the business model is to trap parents into paying a full price hill pass, then please don’t hide behind the «insurance» veil.
Find other ways to monetize guests. Have some fun activities. Sell coffee and snacks.. . Be Gracious with your guests. Provide some value.
There are no loaner sleds. Of course, they’ll sell you a sled for $ 20.
Tubing was closed.
The «magic carpet» to bring riders up the hill was closed.
So, Our youngsters were done within a half hour or so.
We wouldn’t stop here again.
There are much better free options for sleds.

It was okay, definitely would not go bad. Their snack shop is nonexistent, and you get charged for everything. The lines are way to long, we were there for 3 ½ hours and went down the small hill about 4 – 5 times. They have 1 person at the top for 3 slopes and police it like crazy. I understand they don’t want people to get hurt, but smart people know how to go down a hill on a tube. It was so ridiculous waiting in long lines for the idiot helper to push us down. I can tell when no one is in my slope and go by myself. NEVER GOING AGAIN AND DO NOT RECOMMEND.

As soon as it starts to get fun, they put the brakes on and kill whatever joy you were having.

Easy ride from Sac, even though it had snowed the night before. Unfortunately the storm had closed the magic carpet, which was covered in snow. For some reason they weren’t running the tubes either, but gave us a reduced entry price and allowed us to use our own sleds on the tubing hill. It was nice and almost more fun than the tubing.
We parked literally a foot from the slope! No lines, no tube operators, and hours of sledding. Clean rest rooms and a little snack shop on-​site. My only gripe is I wish they updated their website with timely information (i.e. Magic Carpet is out of order, weather conditions, ect…)

Four kids had a great time. The tube runs are fast and they do a good job keeping the line moving. Be prepared for $ 10 parking fee.
If I was going again I would get out and check how many people are lined up. If there are long lines, you may wind up paying a lot on a per-​run basis.
Also note that a very similar operation is running at the Kingvale shell. Two or three exits downhill at Nyack there are free sledding hills but they are very crowded.

WHAT A RIP OFF… they made us pay 10 dollars to park and then we walked to admission box to find out we didnt have enough money, so we left within 5 minutes and they would not refund our 10 dollars we paid to park!!! WE WILL NEVER EVER EVER GO THERE AGAIN!!!

This is a fun place to go tubing. We made a day-​trip out of this from the Bay Area. 3-​hour drive up, then tubing, then 3-​hour drive back.
On the day we went, the magic carpet wasn’t running, so we had to walk up the hill. If I had known that, we wouldn’t have gone or we would have gone somewhere else. I’m not sure if it had just broken that morning or previously. There was ice on it, and it hadn’t snowed in the last day, so I assume it had been broken for more than a day. I called the day before and got a recorded message that made it sound like everything was operational. I also didn’t see anyone working on fixing it until very late in the day and I heard that it was not going to be working the next day either. So since I called and got the standard recording and the website isn’t currently working, there was no way to get this info unless I called repeatedly and got a person on the phone. If this is important to you, I’d advise calling and talking to a person before visiting.
The only silver lining in the broken magic carpet was the reduced prices as a result of this. Instead of the $ 18 for adults, $ 15 for children 6 and above and $ 8 for children 5 and under, it was $ 10 for adults and children above 6 and $ 8 for children 5 and under. (Parking was still $ 10.) And these prices were for one 3-​hour session. They run two sessions each day — 10a-​1p and 1:30p-4:30p.
They have a nice selection of Tubes — all the same size. It would be nice if they had children-​sized tubes and adult-​sized tubes, but this is a small issue. The smallest children (including my 5 year old) did fine in the standard tube.
They have workers at the top of the hill who launch you down the hill. Everyone must have their own tube and you cannot ride in a «train» with multiple tubes going down together. I guess you previously could do this, but rules change. The workers launching people did a great job. They were always cheerful and helpful and they asked everyone if they wanted a spin as they went down or if they wanted to go down straight. And they were safe in only launching people when the bottom of the run was clear. They also had someone monitoring the bottom of the run for safety as well.
There was a lodge where you could rest and eat. That was fine. The bathrooms were poor. The men’s room had one toilet and one urinal that is too high for small children. The women’s room had two toilets and one wasn’t working. The handicapped bathroom had a sign that it was out of order, too.
Right around the tubing runs and parking areas are snow play areas that include small hills that are nice for sledding. Many people were using these with their personal sleds. We arrived with about an hour before our tubing session began. The kids played in the snow area during this time, if we had brought a cheap plastic sled, it would have been put to good use in these areas as well.
I would definitely go back here, but I would check about the state of the magic carpet before making the drive again.

This is a great, affordable place to the the family! The staff is very helpful and friendly. The prices are great and the moving carpet that gets you to the top makes everything even all the better!
One nice thing about the facility is that they have a snack shop, but they also allow you to bring in your own food. This really helps keep the cost down for a fun family outing.
My kids, ages (3) and (6) (at the time) had a great time and cant’ wait for winter to come so we can go back! As a worry-​wart I can tell you that I felt completely relaxed letting my kids enjoy themselves — going down the slides alone, or tied up together! It was a great time had by all!

If you like to have fun in the snow, but don’t know how to ski or snowboard, this is the place for you!
Tubing! With great long slides lots of snow, friendly owners, and a warm fire and pool table to drink wine/​beer/​soda around and hang out with friends and family.
The owner also grooms the local snowmobile trails and rents out snowmobiles (I didn’t partake of this, so don’t really have anything to say about the trails.)
There is a «general store» on site, along with some rooms for rent. The rooms were a bit run down and had no TV, but they were pet friendly — and clean.
During the summer months, the place becomes a camp ground with plenty of RV Parking space and hiking trails along the Yuba river.
