History
Established in 2004.
Back Porch Quilts & Designs LLC is family owned. It was conceived in our old five foot by eight foot enclosed back porch, my first sewing space. I began designing quilt patterns in 2004. A year later, John and I decided to add a room onto the back of our home. My new space measured 15 by 20 feet, but it was short lived as a studio. In 2006, we added fabrics to our business and the website was born. Within a very short time, the number of bolts grew and I was looking for another sewing space.
I cannot think of anything more wonderful than being surrounded by beautiful, fun fabrics, and creating new designs. Our mission is to help you reach your creative goals by providing you with the finest quality fabrics, patterns, notions and kits at a reasonable price. We are as close as your computer. ~ Vicki
Meet the Business Owner
Vicki H.
Business Owner
I grew up loving needle work of all kinds. My grandmother taught me to embroidery at the age of 5. I am sure I was not very good, but she always encouraged me. I began sewing clothing on the sewing machine before long. My passion for sewing continued throughout my school years. At the age of 13, I made a baby quilt for my new little sister. That was the beginning of my quilting years.
In the early 2000’s I was introduced to appliqué and immediately fell in love with the process. Before long I was designing my own quilts. Within a short time I started a pattern company to sell those very same patterns. And Back Porch Quilts and Designs was born.
We added fabrics and notions to our growing inventory a few short years later. The business has continued to grow from there. I enjoy visiting with quilters everywhere.
It is fun to share a project and «play» together pulling fabrics and looking at the possibilities for creating the next masterpiece. Advice and encouragement is freely given.
