Steve Rayman Chevrolet

This is for the sales department.
Steve Rayman and his staff are the funniest, nicest, most real, honest, and humble sales people I have ever met, assuming and this is critical, the staff that I worked with are still there when you go. My salesman Charles Strickland was the literal best car salesman I have ever had the privilege of working «against» in order to secure a solid deal on the car. Against is facetious, Charles worked with me the entire time.
First, the online experience. I went to literally 20 dealerships before I decided to go to Steve Rayman online. Of them, the vast majority refused to speak with me until I actually arrived or demanded an appointment. The manager, CJ, literally gave me his cellphone # and an invitation to text him or call him as needed. He took the time to answer any question I had and respond to my texts, no pushy sales pitches or anything, and bothered to *read* my email instead of sending more random emails at me (which I never got spammed by them).
I had an appointment at 7:30 at night, because of my time schedule, and they kept the lights on until the car was purchased, no guilt, no pressure, even though everyone wanted to get to their New Year’s Eve celebrations, they were totally fine with me being the last customer out the door, making sure the staff and myself were accommodated.
Sitting down with my salesman Charles, he talked to me like a normal human being. Never once did he use any sales tactics, upsells, oversales, or anything. His #1 primary concern was what vehicle would make me happy. In hashing out what I was looking for, he took notes and stayed with me throughout the entire process, making sure I was comfortable, and never did I have to feel like I was engaged in buying a car, more like a luxury handbag or a fine watch. Pure professionalism.
As the deal moved along, Charles worked alongside his management team as transparently as possible to work out a deal that would make everyone happy. In the times that you «sweat bullets» while a manager does anything, he stayed with me, showing me cars and features, and other staff members didn’t hesitate to say hello, ask if I need anything, or just chit-​chat. I had no extras pushed at me, a simple «I just want the car itself» was enough.
During the extensive test drive, I was able to put the car through the wringer. Look at and inspect everything, and they worked in tandem — which is notable because I had left the heat off in the car and they went through, on their final inspection, and made sure the A/​C was working, the heater was working, the fluids were good, and everything else. Charles even did a complete vehicle walkthrough, going over each of the features, and answered any question I had with sincere answers.
F&I (the backroom) was pleasant, fast, and conversational, never fearing from talking shop about the paperwork and discussing small details. Charles made a point to check in and make sure everything was going well and see if I ever needed anything, water or whatever. After the papers were signed (the F&I guy, Tim, was very, very, very nice as well, and one of the most pleasant F&I guys I’ve worked with), they got the vehicle ready and even helped me move my stuff out of my previous vehicle.
if you think this was a big cash deal for them, let’s just throw out the term «used vehicle» and wash those thoughts away — for Charles there would be likely, if any, a small flat commission, and for the dealership it would be a new parking lot for another car. No top of the line brand new corvette here. The niceness they displayed definitely wasn’t to push the deal through, which is what made it feel so sincere.
At no time was a forceful sales pitch made, there were no forceful sales tactics (leaving you alone, today only, «we’re losing money on this deal,» if you walk then this won’t happen, and the salesmen didn’t talk payments, they talked the price of the car, payments are for F&I to handle), and an open door to walk was presented at any time. I got a very good trade-​in, a very good deal on a vehicle, and treated with the absolute most respect. Every question I had was answered, even if it took to google, or even if the answer wasn’t the best for them.
What made the entire experience so memorable is just the absolute respect that they had. They didn’t talk down at me and respected me as a customer, and that in of itself, is what got me inside the door, and got a new set of car keys in my hands.
Anyway, as I said at the start of my review, this is based on my experience with my salesman (Charles), the management team (CJ and Arthur), and the respect went back towards them, I was very polite and did my research as well. I overheard several other deals play out in a similar fashion, where there was a predisposition to be afraid they were trying something, and the constant giggle of the salesman that it wasn’t the case.
I would definitely be back for my next car here.

I thought the dealership service department was really clean and efficient. I didn’t understand what the monitor was when I pulled in, but after seeing my name and my service tech’s name and picture, I really liked it. No guessing, no feeling lost. And, you gave me a loaner to get to work. I’ve never been given a loaner anywhere. That made me feel very special. I’ll definitely be back and recommend others come here too.

This review is for the Service department. I’ve been a customer for over two years and so far so good.
PROs:
— I have an older car and I’m never pressured to buy a new car
— I am never scared into making unnecessary costly repairs (this happened to me regularly at the Nissan dealership on Cobb parkway)
— There is plenty of seating in the waiting area
— Good location on Cobb Parkway (next to the Target); long but doable walk to Starbucks on Windy Hill (walking thru Target parking lot)
CONs:
— there have been times that I pulled into the service area and not acknowledged for 10+ minutes
— there are times when I had to wait much longer than the original estimate (maybe twice out of 8 visits)
— you can’t see the techs work on your car (some of the newer dealerships are designed this way)

Over the years the service gets worse. I have truly began to feel like a number in the scheme of things. I drive all the way from Dallas and I never get good service. For example I did not get the inspection report and was told they could not print me one despite the fact it’s part of the packet I paid for. my car has 92 000 miles and I need to know what is where on my car. I was simply told your brakes are fine. I’m not in my car but I don’t think the tires were rotated as they should have been and I was not told… until I asked… what services were needed or due on my car… and for your business that would have been good because what is due is a hefty penny. I have said over and over I’m not going back… I will go somewhere closer to home. I think that is my next move

So I looked online for a used car that was in my budget. As luck would have it, these guys would have the exact car that I wanted, features and everything. I contacted the dealer to make an appointment and they tell me that I’m pre-​approved, which is an outright lie. When I get there to get the car, they make small talk and «get the deal going». Only 10K loan, no problem. right? wrong. They tell me that «it’s not looking good». I give them paperwork showing that I can pay the notes. The salesman leaves to «work something out». After what seemed like forever, the salesman tells me to come look at my car. When I come to the parking lot, they show me a car. but not the one I wanted. Without telling me, they pulled a bait and switch on me after a whole morning of… whatever. And the funniest thing is that the car that they tried to push on to me had a 34K dollar loan!!! So… I didn’t qualify for a cheaper used car that was only 10K but you’re pushing a car that I didn’t want and had a 34K loan as well? And get this, the salesman says «keep the payments on time for a year and you can refinance and get another car». In other words, pay for something you don’t want for a year, refinance and get another car… and the remaining that you owe on the one you don’t want will be added into the car that you do want. Needless to say, I was 38 hot about this. Matter of fact, I still am. Would recommend this place to get bulldozed to put a Pizza Hut rather than a place to buy a car. Zero stars but Unilocal wants me to give at least one!!! BTW, most of these «good» reviews are from people who work there.

Seriously every time I come here they have the best customer service skills, even when I just randomly pop up and want to be fitted into the schedule. If your car needs troubleshooting they will let you know before signing off. They give you the estimate and always try to let you save money. Some days they have free pizza for customers, a comfortable waiting lounge with a vending and coffee machines. If you are a sports fan which is pretty annoying they got the latest games viewing on the television. Can’t say much they are awesome! Oh and they have free wifi.

The service department has terrible customer service. Twice I’ve walked in and received bad service (with an appointment). This last occurrence takes the cake. I received a recall letter advising that I need to take my car into my local Chevy dealer for service due to an issue with the brakes (one of the symptoms causes the «Service ESC» light to come on). I’ve been having this issue for over a year and finally decide to respond to the letter. I called the dealership on September 19 to schedule an appointment to have the recall work done on September 27. Then September 27 rolls around and I am a few minutes early for my appointment (7 mins early) and decide to check in. I introduce myself to the service guy and he immediately says «We can’t help you today. We don’t have the part. We used the last one about 30 mins ago. Chevrolet doesn’t send enough of these parts and we use them as we need to».
I had an appointment for a very specific job. They could’ve either 1) held the parts for me, 2) requested more parts a week prior from GM, 3) called me to let me know they were out of parts — as soon as they ran out.
The service department guy didn’t even bring up my account to look at any notes the lady seemed to put in when I scheduled my appointment. There were other issues that needed to be looked at. The only thing he could ask is «Do you want to get an oil change?»
I left the dealership and decide I need to talk to a manager. I called the dealership and asked for a service manager only to get sent directly to a general mailbox.
This is absurd. I’ve filed a formal complaint with GM executive relations due to the fact my appointment was in relation to a GM recall. I would NOT recommend this service department for anything.

I haven’t bought or owned a car since the late 90’s. I preferred Zipcar or public transit. I had no intention of getting a vehicle until I moved to Atlanta where public transit is (may as well be) non-​existent. I certainly wasn’t planning to buy one yesterday. I got this Capital One mailer in the mail saying I was preapproved. Yeah, right. So, I call ‘em up, and ask how much I’m «approved» for. I get the usual song and dance about, «…you have to come in, it’s on an individual basis, blah, blah». This is usually when I say thanks, and politely hang up.
This receptionist was SO nice and pleasant. She says, «…I know, this part of the process is really a pain, but why don’t you come in and talk with Ivan for a few minutes, and he’ll be able to answer all of your questions?». It was the combination of her empathizing with me not wanting to come in, AND offering me a NAME of someone I’d see who could ANSWER my questions. I leave work and head in. Traffic was a nightmare getting there, I was tired, cranky, and hungry.
I approach, and before I can look at any cars (they had nothing I liked online), a gorgeously handsome (and well spoken– you know, very gentlemanly) guy comes out and greets me (Ron Freeman). He was just so genuinely nice. I tell him that I don’t want to spend a lot of time in there, I’m just there to find out how much I’m approved for, and to please skip all the jazzy stuff. I don’t want to look at anything until I know how much I’m approved for, and by the way, I’m tired, hungry, and not really sure this is the day or time for me to even be here. He completely gets it. So much so that we don’t even go out to look at cars, he offers to work all the paperwork stuff immediately.
Cool. We do some paperwork (all on an iPad, mind you). So, I’m waiting. He’s sitting with me, conversing, just sort of hanging out. Finally, they’re taking so long to run everything, that I get mad that I haven’t been shown ONE car yet. Lol! So, I wander out onto the lot by myself. Wasn’t I the one who said I didn’t want to see anything?
Ron comes out a few minutes later, after I’ve had time to browse (that was strategic, wasn’t it?), and asks me if I see anything I like. Well, heck yeah, how about that drop-​top 2014 Chevy Camaro with the racing kit? He chuckles, and says, «is that what you want?». I couldn’t believe that he wasn’t laughing me off the lot. It was at that moment I realized things had gotten serious, and I was probably going to buy a car from these folks. Ha! Sold, and didn’t even know it. (No, not the Camaro, but hey, he took me seriously, or at least pretended to– good move)
I find the PERFECT car for ME hiding on the next to last row, nestled between some other nice rides. They had just gotten it in 2 days prior, and it WAS listed on the website, but with no photo because it was so new. I overheard a few of the salesmen asking about it, and where it came from, and my dude Ron calmly and cooly said, «you gotta walk and know your line, know your line», with a smug smile.
Long story short, I bought a PERFECT new car for me, at an affordable rate for me! Wow! It wasn’t painful. RON FREEMAN is the man you want to see. Arthur, one of the managers is a true native Bostonian sweetheart, Susan, the money lady is SO flyy (reminds me of Ellen), and everyone I encountered, even in passing, was SOOO nice!
Only things I didn’t like, and the reasons I deducted a star, are when you’re all done you have to meet with this cool guy named Ray, who has to show you how your car works. What? Really? I’m ready to GO– NOW. You have my money, my signatures, my DNA, everything– let me GO– and I’m hungry!!! Come on, guy.
The other thing is this: BEWARE– they will RUSH you through the paperwork that initially sets your deal. You deal with your salesman (1^st person you deal with) and then a manager (2^nd person you deal with). You barely get a chance to READ the stuff when you’re reviewing it with person #2. Also, NOBODY will tell you what your payments are and down payment is until you see Susan, the money lady (3^rd person you deal with). So, you’ve seen 2 people and signed stuff, before you get to the way cool and über nice, bank lady– Susan (did I mention that she’s hecka hot, too?). She has all your magic info. Maybe we could do that part earlier in the process? If you need to negotiate something, Susan can’t do that, and has to go back to your manager (person #2) to get it done. See what I’m saying?
If you want ANYTHING, or wish to negotiate ANYTHING, do it with your salesman (person #1) before he goes to talk to his manager (person #2) about your deal.
Anyway, these people treated ME like royalty, made me feel valued and welcomed, and I’d GLADLY recommend them to ANYONE, and I look forward to my next vehicle from Steve Rayman Chevrolet.

Helped a friend with a drop off for service for their 2013 Chevy. Dealership is huge, and plenty of helpful staff. I like the drive in bays, pretty convenient if it’s rainy outside! I arrive here at 7am, to sit and wait for service. Plenty of seating in the wait area, PLASMA TV’s with ESPN on. Free WiFi for us IPad device people, and Free coffee. Overall a very courteous and efficient service department.

The worst experience thus far at a dealership. Two and a half hour wait (with an appointment) to walk away from an oil change, tire rotation and a 27-​point inspection with NO review/​explanation AND two of my chrome tire valve caps missing! REALLY!?!

It’s not often that I’m able to say it was a pleasure to spend a little money on my car, but in this case, it was.
Inherited a Lincoln that had been sitting for a few months, and had to drive it to Atlanta from St. Louis without the benefit of getting the oil changed. As soon as I had a block of free time, stopped in and saw Jason in the service department, to get my oil changed & tires rotated. From the time I dropped my keys off to him, to the time they brought my sled around, was give or take 45 minutes. They topped off my fluids, and performed an inspection for me, since I wanted to make sure I wasn’t inheriting a headache.
So far, so good!

I recently made a purchase at Steve Rayman Cobb Parkway. As my time is very limited, I chose to shop online and found a great car that I am so excited about. As soon s I inquired and applied online, Clarisse gave me a call to set up a time to come in. Everything was smooth, and I was very impressed that everyone was happy to be there.

Had a great experience purchasing my truck from these guys. Ben, my salesman, made me feel relaxed. and I left with the truck I wanted at a price I was happy with.

**Car Lease Review **
These guys will hound you to fill out reviews and to give them all A+ grades (their own survey, Chevy’s, and others like Unilocal). And that my friends is what downgrades Steve Rayman from a 4 star to a 3 star review.
As far as the meat of the operation… it’s a large dealership with a lot of people that come together to make it happen. Our sales associate was nice but he was pretty uninformed and needed help from others often. It didn’t make us go away but it slowed things down and made things a little annoying. But I guess it’s better to be sweet and uninformed then a butt hole and uninformed right?
The most helpful person was the finance people. The official deal was as the same as what the sales person told us initially — so no funny business. And the paperwork process went pretty quick. So I’d say that’s where they get their most props.
After the paperwork was done, they have someone to teach you the in-​and-​out of the stereo, On-​Star, etc. That gentleman was full of energy (probably too much) and he did cross the line with 2 of his jokes. It rolled off our shoulders but he should be careful because he could have easily offended a lot of customers.
Overall we found Steve Rayman had better selection of cars and welcoming employees vs. the Chevy on Peachtree Industrial (where we went first). We got similar numbers to what we expected from internet ads (which we didn’t at Peachtree Industrial). It didn’t seem like they were trying to con us and overall they pleasant and welcoming, which was hit or miss from the 3 or 4 dealers we visited during this process.
But if I was Mr. Rayman, I’d back off the survey requests… we got calls about filling out surveys every other day and maybe 1 total call about how the car itslef was doing. It’s not a good look guys!

My husband and I just purchased our first family car together here at Steve Raymond. The experience was great we had a friendly sales rep Bo Barnett who walked us through the car buying steps. We will be coming back here for our next purchase!

I had horrible credit just had ch 7 discharged and Country Calvin worked a great deal for me to rebuild my credit in a new 2013 Chevy Sonic… No more bus for me!!! I had a Great experience! Country Calvin did a wonderful job, very patient and knowledgeable. I love my new car, bumper to bumper, warranty-​oh yea! Also big shout out Ray in the social media dept. Came to Steve Rayman for a new car today & guess what? I got it!!! Everybody here is sooo nice! Jennifer & Seline helped me pick a great car that fit my budget that I’m so in love with! Ray the mgr was so animated and kept me laughing the entire time while he went over the things I could do in my new Camaro… Bryan worked me out a great deal with my finance company which dropped my payments drastically! :) I will def be referring anyone I know thats in the market for a Chevy to them! Best car buying experience by far!

I recently purchased a vehicle from Steve Rayman Chevrolet in Smyrna and I must say I was impressed with the sales and service staff. The sales representatives were very informed about the vehicles and worked hard to provide me with the best value for my money. The service staff worked equally hard to get me in and out within an hour’s time when I returned a week later to have an additional safety option installed on my car. The atmosphere was light so I did not feel pressured to make an on the spot decision.
Hats off to Ray the Social Media Director for going the extra mile to make this an experience that will bring me back in a few years when I am ready to purchase my next vehicle.
