Came here for nieces birthday party, it was nice, the skates weren’t true to size at least for me, I’m a 7.5 I tried all the way down to a 6 and still big, anyway the skating was fun, the food was priced well, pizza, nachos, hot dogs, candy etc, they had a laser tag which was cool for about a minute it was small it’s good for little kids not so much adults, overall experience it was fun, kids and adults will love the skating aspect.

Great place to visit with the kids or if you’re a adult that likes to skate. Bring your friends and family. The DJ keeps its pumped.

I am so impressed with the paintings on the wall and very much am pleased with the «90’s «feel it gives with a modern twist! On top of this, very clean when I went recently with a friend!
The prizes and arcade room are not as BIG as I remember but I can understand why.
You can rest assured there is plenty of skating space here and SO MANY different events! Just check out their calendar sometime! I was thrilled!
The only real issue I had was a shortage of skate sizes available. The young man at the counter brought me 7 when I asked for 8 or 9 (mentioning I can work with either that was available). They didn’t fit. So, I took them to the counter where an older lady approached me from behind the desk and I told her «I was given the wrong size – » and she responds with a harsh «Well, did you try them on?» I told her yes and they didn’t fit. She wasn’t speaking politely or neutrally despite the loud voices around us. She just seemed agitated with me and returned with a larger size. This was the only thing I found I didn’t care for here was the lack of personable courtesy.
Pros:
–Great fun for adults and kids with different events for both!
— Huge indoor playplace.
— Great exercise and fun!
— Very clean!
— Small cones around an area in disrepair.
Cons:
— Particularly rude staff member.
— Door handle in a stall in women’s restroom in mild need of repair.

I went to the Old School Skate Reunion ($ 10) adult night. It was pouring down raining on a Sunday and I assumed the place would be empty. Not so much. The later it got, the more skaters showed up. It was supposed to be 21 and up but the crowd was more like 41 and up.
That night, ladies wore matching ripped t’s with their name on the back, shorts and fish nets. But normally people dress comfortably and ladies wear the tightest jeans or spandex pants they can find. A few dust off their club outfits from 20 years ago. Guys can comfortably skate together without anyone raising an eyebrow. There were a few younger guys but mostly old school players with starched jeans and button up shirts. One reminded me of Michael Jackson. Another wore a cowboy hat. You’d never suspect that the old guy you might have seen in the grocery aisle or at church was a skating celebrity.
I can see why they charge non-​skaters on Sunday night because everyone would show up just to watch the show. Groups do dance routines like they’ve been practicing since I was a kid. Unfortunately, you have to skate around them. They’ll announce that only women can skate (with the bright lights on) or only men. Then they break out in prayer and get right back to skating.
If you’re a mediocre skater, other patrons might give you tips like «bend your knees». But if you’re really slow, they’ll advise you to go to the middle rink for your own safety. The outside circle is the big leagues for experienced skaters only. If you’re practicing how to skate in the outer circle, you’re likely to get into a speed skaters way or disrupt one of the dance routines which would be disastrous. Sunday night is not the time to wander aimlessly. Come on a weekday to get some practice in.
I’ve been on a Monday which is great because there’s plenty of parking, the rink is practically empty and admission is only $ 2. All ages are welcome and unfortunately, a lot of parents don’t watch their kids. Some can barely skate yet they’re barreling towards you at 50 mph. Others cross the rink in the wrong direction and every ten minutes you’re dodging a skater who’s fallen. The refs are too busy doing spin moves and showing off to blow the whistle or enforce skate rules.
There are concessions, clean restrooms, 50 cent lockers and a play area for kids for an extra $ 3. If there’s no parking, park at Advance Auto Parts and ride the free shuttle. Bring your own skates. I paid $ 4 to rent some ‘Buster Browns’ which should have been thrown out years ago. The skates were so old and wobbly, they didn’t support my ankles and my big toe throbbed for a week. But it was still a lot of fun.
I am deducting one star from my review for the raggedy skates and for Sunday night skating. The price goes up for no reason & the dj’s are hit or miss and play the same old tracks. Lastly, it’s so crowded after 9pm Sunday, there’s really no room to skate. Prices and evening hours:
Monday: $ 2 admission/​$ 2 skate rental 6 – 9 pm
Tuesday: private parties only
Wednesday: $ 3 admission/​$ 3 skate rental
Thursday: $ 5 admission Adult Night (18+) 9:30 pm — 12:30
Friday: $ 6 admission 7 – 11 pm
Saturday: $ 8 admission open till 11:00 pm
Sunday: $ 7-​$ 10 admission Adult Night (21+) 8 pm to midnight (sometimes 2)

Memories! My wife and I took our 7 year old last night. This is the first time I’d been in a skating rink in over 15 years. The rink is very open and smooth. The rest of building is open well organized.
They rent roller skates and and roller blades — this is great because my wife has grown up on skates where i had always used roller blades. These memories created last night were absolutely amazing for our entire family. Only suggestion I have is better quality /​smoother transitions in the music… wasn’t as bad to where I have to give less than 5 stars though. We Can’t wait to come back!

I decided to take my kids skating and they and myself enjoyed our time there! The staff was very friendly and very helpful especially the lady that was working the skate rental booth. I didn’t get her name but she was very sweet and helpful!!! Definitely plan on going back with kids again!

Are you looking for a great idea for an Adult Party? Than this is the best idea ever. This past Saturday, my friends and I planned a surprise going away party for our friends who are moving to Hawaii. We rented out the entire skating rink from 11:30 — 2:00 a.m.
OMG It was so fun. I didn’t know my husband had moves like that. They even let us hang decorations, a banner and we all wore hula skirts and leis for the Hawaiian theme.
The staff was super friendly and accommodating. You can request any kind of music from the D.J. We also played paddle tag and Hillbilly race.
I seriously would do this once a month. Everyone had so much fun with the exception of being pretty sore for a couple of days. :)
And yes, they have alcohol.
I highly recommend this for any adult party, soooo fun!

A very close friend has been skating at various skate centers in Atlanta for the last 24 years, and has frequently invited me to join their group.
Even a a young child, I didn’t like to fall and scrape myself, so you can imagine that skating has never been on top of any list of mines and in the 24 years that I have know him, I’ve never gone as I wondered, what do people that don’t skate do at the skating rink.
Well, last nite he invited me again, and I decided what the heck, its different. So I headed to Sparkles. It was being promoted as Old Skool Adult night, and that you had to be 21 and over to get in.
I got there right before 11, and was glad I had gone later than earlier, as they were just finishing up the skating competitions and it was plenty of folks that had been standing around in their skates for the last two hours and some of them were beginning to grumble that they were ready to leave if the skating didn’t begin soon. Note to Sparkles. If you are having skating competitions before the «all skate», let people know, some people don’t want to stand around for two hours watching others skate.
I didn’t go to skate only to watch, and I agree with the other reviews. I can’t speak for any other night, but on Sunday nite around 11pm, you better be a serious skater if you plan to get on the floor.
If you aren’t going to skate there is an $ 8 cover charge to enter. I thought this odd, but again, the Unilocalers had prepared me of the fee and my friend confirmed it for me when I asked him if you really have to pay to get in if you aren’t skating.
I stayed about an hour, and here are my pointers from an observers point of view.
Stay in the middle if you are a novice skater or don’t want to marathon skate. There are two or three «referees» that will help you get on the floor, but be prepared to get yourself out there, because the referees are skating and having fun, so you aren’t a priority for them. The best place enter the floor is when there is gap between skaters, people skate arm in arm and in groups so you can make a dash for it once they pass by.
Depending on when you arrive, you may get a change to park in their lot or about two blocks away.
I maneuvered a parking spot on the side of the building and thought I had find a good spot until it was time to leave, and I realized the place I had parked is reserved for the Cobb County police that works there and I had to humbly go inside and tell him that he had me blocked in. He smiled and told me that he knew that I would find him when I was ready to leave. Guess he’s use to having to move his cruiser so people can exit.
People were friendly, and the music was old skool favorites, but I think I can live without paying the $ 8 cover charge to watch people skate. But it was a wonderful night of people watching.

So my children’s friend were having a birthday party here and being that it’s the only rink in the area, of course we went back. Once again customers were at the door arguing about the price of entry. Here it is, $ 8 bucks for admissions add $ 4 bucks if you want to skate and another $ 3 bucks if you want the playground. (this was on a Saturday) I personally think the admission is steep, I’m a parent that has to pay $ 8 bucks to watch my kids skate, I don’t think that’s a reasonable price, but whatever I don’t own the place. Another up sale is, they force the kids to purchase lights in order to skate ($ 1,)said the DJ, who is by far the worst DJ ever, the music definitely kills the vibe, the mixing is beyind horrible with a static microphone. As far as trying to get your skates, there is a black older lady who works that area, who’s not friendly to the kids, I mean lady they’re children. I think that a job like that would allow someone who is friendly and a more upbeat. Also, she won’t allow you the turn in your skates if you haven’t fixed the shoelaces and placed them back in the shoe. Last thing is the skate floor I would rate a 2, I mean with the collection plate at entry you would think they could update the floor. I’m sure the 4 and 5 star ratings are the owners.

I used to frequent this Sparkles in Smyrna as a child, and always had fond memories, but last night will not be added to the list. A group of friends and I decided to go to the adult skate, thinking it would be a different and fun thing to do, and oh how wrong we were. Seeing that none of us had skated in years we were all a little shaky on our wheels.
Immediately we were reprimanded by the patrons and informed that this was an «advanced» skating event, and that we should be escorted to the middle, and only skate there. It was horrible. We left shortly after each of us (and there were 9) were separately informed that our mediocre skating skills were not wanted there. It would not have been so upsetting if this was advertised as «an advanced» event.
Unfortunately, the next time we decide to relive a childhood past time we will not do so at Sparkles. I have been to Hot Wheels in Woodstock, Ga and they seem to accommodate patrons of all skill levels.
Again, if the company would advertise this as an advanced adult event we would not have gone and wasted our money. We asked to be refunded our money and the owner tried to accommodate our request, until she realized that there were nine of us. Out of the $ 13 we each spent we were only refunded $ 3. So, in short be aware that unless you are an amazing skater, do NOT go to sparkles on a Sunday evening.

So, we decided to go last night (Sunday) because that is adult night. Well, we got there around 9:45 and we could NOT find parking. So we went up this hill to a parking lot that had ample amount of space so keep that in mind when you go. It connects to another business. Anyway, here I am all super excited because in MY mind, I am an 8 year old awesome skater because that is when I WAS an awesome skater. It cost 11 bucks total to get in. So me and the homie walked in and our mouths dropped. THESE PEOPLE WERE AMAZING. TRICKS, TURNS, BACKWARDS, HOLDING HANDS, ONE GUY DID A BACK FLIP and here I am barely standing on my skates. These people are some professional skaters so do NOT go on a Sunday night and think these are old fogies because its adult night. So as I am standing there bravely trying to get on the floor (they were going so fast, I couldn’t get on the floor). This guy came up, obviously saw my scared expression and said he would lead me out. So I am more in the middle, went around twice and discovered, my behind is out of shape with skating and got stuck in the middle. Literally got stuck because again, they were going so fast, I couldn’t get out. So I braved skating around the floor and I saw the guy who helped me on the floor and screamed as I skated past him, «I want out.» lol… But the whole point is, I could have paid just to watch people because they were that awesome and I barely skated due to sheer fear of how fast they were going. But I am going to take skate lessons here and overall, believe it or not, I had a good time. But if you haven’t skated in awhile, you WILL get your feelings hurt. But good crowd, nice people and a lot of fun!!!

This place is a fantastic option to have a private birthday party! We rented the venue for a private party for our daughter’s 8^th birthday party and had an absolute BLAST! The staff was so welcoming and accommodating and ensured that our every need was met. We provided a playlist to the DJ and he made special announcements about the birthday girl and kept everyone engaged.
The experience level for the little skaters varied, so the staff made sure that ones who needed assistance safely had a great time. The food was great, our host kept the lemonade and fruit punch flowing, and manangement made sure all of our wishes were met.
One of the guests even said she would come back next month to host her daughter’s bday party there. It was perfect! We couldn’t hafe asked for anything more!

How intimidating could a place be with a cutesy-​wootsy name like Sparkles? Very, as it turns out.
My friends and I decided to go on a Sunday night because it was a 21+ adult night from 8pm until midnight. We read that to mean clumsy, «haven’t skated since middle school» adults, like us. We didn’t want to worry about dodging waist-​high kiddos cruising past at blinding speeds. This decision, as it turned out, was a BIG mistake.
It was obvious that we were out of our depth as soon as we walked in, but we’d paid our $ 7 admission and $ 4 skate rental, so we were committed. The patrons looked like they’d glided straight out of a 1980s roller boogie movie. They were spinning, dancing forward, dancing backward, clapping, singing, doing toe touches – all while zipping along at incredible speeds around the outside of the rink. The woman renting skates advised us to stay in the middle area and to «roll into a ball and cover your heads» if we fell en route to the beginner zone.
There is a step down onto the rink and no railings anywhere. One friend described standing at the edge, trying to figure out how to get to the center of the rink, as «more terrifying than the first time I rode my motorcycle on 285.» Fortunately, a friendly referee-​type dude spotted us and stopped traffic so that the clumsy noobs could cross.
We had a good time shuffling along in the small center area, but it is tough to get any momentum or really figure out what you’re doing with so little space, especially as it starts to fill up with dancers trying out new moves. It wasn’t long before one friend had had enough, which was fine until we realized we’d have to cross the speed zone again to leave. The helpful referee was nowhere to be found, so we harnessed every drop of our new-​found skating prowess and stumbled as quickly as possible to the edge, almost causing a major collision.
I think Sparkles would be a whole lot of fun if you choose the right night. Adult Night is definitely not for amateurs. If you show up on a Sunday, make sure your wheels are greased and you’re ready to fly. Otherwise, choose another day to brush up on your skills first. We were told Wednesdays are much better for new and/​or rusty skaters, and Tuesday nights are only $ 1, so I’m hoping to try one of those soon.
The staff was super friendly. The DJ (some guy from Baltimore, I think) was playing a really fun mix of funk and soul. The prices are really reasonable. The place was clean. Parking was easy, but only because we showed up early. By the time we left, the lot was full, and people were parked pretty far up and down the street. Show up before 9pm on Sundays if you don’t want to park far away.

This is an older skating rink, but so worth the price of admission that I have driven all the way from Coweta County a half dozen times the last couple years. Here’s why I like it: the staff are pretty friendly and always willing to cross the counter to help you. There is also plenty of room to spread out if you’re like me and want to read your Kindle while your 4 kids skate. They also have a very decent variety of refreshments, including the icee type drinks which are always a hit with the kids. They have a very accommodating playground for kids either too young to skate, or kids that would rather not. The place has great atmosphere, and on many occasions, drove here instead of to the closer rink in Fayetteville.

Had a blast! Great staff and management, we will be back!

This rink is always clean and fun to visit. I haven’t skated in over 15 years but now my little ones are at skating ages and they love to go. The music is at the perfect level, the selection is great, and the staff is very nice. The floor is a little bumpy going around the curve but nothing too terrible. They offer lessons at a reasonable rate for kids and adults. The «regulars» are always happy to help with any skating moves you may want to learn. A fun and affordable family outing. Free WIFI!

If there is a hell on Earth, it’s Sparkles. Went for an elementary school night, and among other things, they actually did age 12+ and 18+ skates. During the 18+ skate there were literally 4 people skating while all the kids were sidelined!
To top it off, the concession stand ran out of everything and we had to wait for about 15 minutes for corn dogs… Only to find out they made 3 instead of 4. The arctic ice machine was running low too. Pizza would have taken ½ hr. The employees were totally unconcerned about any of this. Ugh.

I haven’t been in Sparkles since the 90s. Great remodel job! Wonderful place to bring the kiddies on a weekend/​weekday afternoon. My brother and nephew work at the rink so I’m not sure on the admission prices but I’d pay to watch my kid play while I access the free WiFi.
Nice DJ too!

I went here twice and both times I went during non-​adult hours. The Saturday afternoon was pleasant, there was only a kids’ daycamp there and they were mostly running through the arcade. I went again on Saturday night (big mistake!). There were kids everywhere, cramping the style of most of the people I was with.
It was almost impossible to skate without being run into and they observed no skate rules.
On the upside, the floor here is good and I’ll have to try adult night sometime to see what it’s like for those of us over 16.
