After a few bad visits… They have redeemed themselves. Food is excellent, service was friendly, and the restaurant was nice and clean.

If for no other reason, go for the cheese biscuits! Oh my goodness, so good. The food is good, but the prices(and not-as-big-as-you’d-expect-for-that-price portions) mean we only go a few times a year. Servers are always great!

This was our first time to eat here. The food is awesome here everything is made from scratch, and the staff is friendly/courteous. They have a drive thru, you can get it to go, dine in and enjoy your food. They have catering service also, you can purchase some of their products there too. We will be back there to eat again.

I’ll admit that Jim N Nick’s may not be the best BBQ meat around, but you’ll be hard pressed to find a place that is more consistent. They Smyrna location has become my favorite restaurant to eat at, mainly because their quality and service are consistently good. What separates Jim N Nick’s from other BBQ joints is their sides. From the Mac N Cheese to the Fried Green Tomatoes, I can’t remember having a bad side yet. It seems to me their BBQ is meant to appeal to a wider demographic, which is why I’d say the meats are just good and not great. Again, it’s the consistency that keeps me coming back. You have your choice of their mild BBQ sauce and the spicier habanero BBQ sauce, both of which are mighty tasty. My favorites to order are the Loaded BBQ baker with pulled pork and the Double Decker with pulled pork and brisket. Favorite sides would be the potato salad, Mac N Cheese(best anywhere) and fried green tomatoes. Price is a bit higher than you pay at some other BBQ joints, but I’ll happily pay a little more for consistency and quality any day of the week.

If I could, I’ve give a 4.5 stars. The interior was pristine, including the restroom. The service staff was excellent. Our waitress was Abby, was perfect. They have a great cocktail selection. The food was delivered in a timely manner. Okay, here’s the only thing I can criticize: the turkey was a little dry, like it’d been prepped earlier that morning and then sat under a heat lamp. It’s just a small thing, overall a good eating experience.

Decent BBQ for a chain. Brisket was mushy and subpar, but the pulled pork was well smoked and juicy. The cheese muffins were delicious and the Mac and cheese had good flavor to it. HUGE portions, but worth a stop for a quick BBQ fix. The service was great. I was seated immediately, and she was very attentive. The added bonus was a fairly delightful list of bourbon options.

First time at Jim N Nick’s Bar B Q! My colleague and I went there for lunch. Chad was our server, he was awesome. .. So kudos to management on a great hire! He knew the menu backwards and forwards and he was clearly a FAN of the restaurant and the food. It was a Wednesday so apparently on this day they offer cabbage as one of your trimmings(sides)! Omg! The cabbage was. .. say it with me. .. AWESOME! The collards were very tasty too. Generally, I love to put a little Tabasco on my greens, but I almost didn’t want to as the flavors were that good. I also got the two meat combo. .. Pulled pork and beef brisket! Yum yum! The barbecue sauce was delicious and the meats were cooked perfectly. Oh and I got the sweetened Palmer. .. Chad kept them coming faster than I could drink them(compliment by the way), but I had to stop drinking them as I had a flight to catch(bummer). .. And I was in a window seat. Ha! I truly wish I was not traveling as my leftovers would have been perfect for dinner tonight. On the bright side, I did get the banana pudding to go! Chad described each dessert perfectly and when he said banana pudding. .. I just could not resist, so while in the air headed back to the Lone Star state, I enjoyed my banana pudding all the way to the bottom of the container! Although a chain, I highly recommend this restaurant. .. the only thing that is not freshly made in that place is the ketchup. .. and at a bbq place. .. Ummmm I want bbq sauce! Who cares about the ketchup??? Great food, Great atmosphere, and Great service!!! Drops the mic. .

One thing the boyfriend and I really miss about the south is BBQ, so we were super happy to stop in here on our quick trip to Nashville. While this was a good meal, it wasn’t a great one. Let’s break it down. Arrival: Two ladies at the host stand, super friendly, bantered a bit before being seated on the patio as requested. Service: Waiter was super friendly, but failed to communicate/notice a few things. My drink apparently takes a loooong time to make, which would have been nice to know when I ordered it. While I asked for napkins when our app arrived, he just brought us square cocktail ones, and someone didn’t realize that we didn’t have silverware until our entrees arrived and we asked for it. Apparently it should have been set when we were seated, but it wasn’t. Also could have been more on top of water refills. Drinks: Excellent. The waiter made a good bourbon recommendation to the boyfriend, and my cocktail — the Peachy Keen — was amazing. Seriously, that was a damn good cocktail and worth the wait(something about minced peaches?). However, I can’t say how much alcohol was actually in it, since, being a major lightweight, I didn’t taste or feel anything, which is kind of surprising. Apps: Cheesy muffins. O. M. G. Just… give me all the cheesy muffins, and it’ll be fine. Deviled eggs were also excellent, with a little extra mustard that gave them a little something without going crazy. Sides: Pretty darn good. Onion rings($ 2 upcharge) needed some salt, but were hot, crispy, and not at all greasy. The boyfriend enjoyed the collards and coleslaw. Meat: Eh. The waiter recommended the brisket over the pulled pork, so I went with it. For $ 17, I expected a pretty generous portion, but, uh, not so much. Literally. As others have noted, it was served kind of lukewarm, which would have been nice to know ahead of time. The waiter assured my boyfriend that the spareribs(which he ordered especially for the cartilage) were smoked for 24 hours, started in the morning and not served until the following afternoon. Having eaten them, I highly doubt that. The cartilage wasn’t at all soft, which, after that long, it should have been, and overall it seemed like they needed MORE time. Kind of weird. Sauces: The sauce on my brisket had a bit of a kick to it, and even the original sauce on the table had too much pep for my tame palate. The boyfriend asked for the white Carolina sauce, and that had so much pepper in it, I thought my throat would explode. Disappointing. So overall, while I enjoyed a lot of this meal, the meat especially didn’t quite measure up to what I was hoping for. However, they are doing a great job with sides and drinks, which is not always the case for these joints. I’d go back, but order different meat.

Got links and brisket. Both served cold. Green beans taste of too much salt. Fried green tomatoes taste good. The rolls were amazing good. Both meats taste great just too cold.

This was just great — really hit the spot. I had brisket — so good and mac and cheese with coleslaw. Some of the best Cole slaw I’ve ever had. Nice waiter named James. Thanks so much

We came here for a quick meal but we will not be back. The mashed potatoes were very old. In fact the comment was made did they scrap these off several other plate to make one order. While the portion was a good size the quality made them impossible to eat. The tenders we had were delusion and our sever was fast and efficient. This use to be a great place because their sides were always fresh but this is the third time that we have eaten here and the food was subpar. I hardly ever swear off a restaurant all together but this one has but the dust.

The cheese biscuits are delicious! The peach tea has chunks of peaches at the bottom and is so good. Pulled pork was super tender and baked beans were very good along with some of the best mac and cheese I’ve ever had.

This is one of our favorite spots when we lived in Nashville. The smoked turkey is amazing and the little cheese biscuits with whipped butter! The staff is super friendly and the portions are huge.

Sloooow drive through service. There were three cars in line I sat there for 25 minutes before I received my order. I wasn’t given any napkins or silver ware either.

If you’ve traveled much through the Deep South, Jim N Nick’s brings comfort. It’s chain BBQ that’s better than average, typically comes with good service and who could ever forget the cheese biscuits? This location is no different. Located at the end of a strip loaded with retail and chain restaurants, this is where you come for BBQ. Not all Jim N Nick’s are created equal. The ones I’ve eaten at in Alabama and Georgia were better than this one. On the other hand, you’re still likely to enjoy everything that comes to the table. And, save some room. The pies are pretty good for chain food. While the turkey was dry and fell below the average belt, the brisket and ribs did impress and what kid wouldn’t love the nachos and loaded potatoes served here? I’ve always been a fan of their pulled pork, too. One great thing about this place is the sides rival the meats. More importantly, they have more than baked beans, potato salad and cole slaw. In fact, they have much more. For a family meal, a birthday, quick lunch or a solo trip to eat in the bar, I’m not sure anyone could complain about the food or scene here. It’s chain BBQ — at its best. The portions are huge. There’s plenty of flavor and you can bet you’ll want to come back.

Was an showdown at Jim N Nick(JNN). With dinosaur BBQ fully processed in our tummy from last week, and taste still fresh in memory, we thought we be judge of TN vs NYBBQ. JNN had Good BBQ, meat was falling of the bone good. Now. Does rise above Dino’s? Some of you might cry foul bias. But I had a dude from Atlanta with me. And we both agreed… Dino’s take the trophy. Beef brisket, original pulled pork, ribs, collard greens, and potatoes salad and wings Without too many words, I think we agreed it must be the sauce. During out discussion, An observation I made settled the decision… At JNN, I was constantly adding sauce on my plate. At Dino I didn’t need to, and finish the plate. Meat characteristics. Both falling of the bone good. I found JNN bit dry on the ribs. Pull pork was good, beef brisket was excellent. Great food, great waitress… And because it was out first time, they were nice enough to offer one free dessert.

Had to wait to be seated because the hostess was tied up talking to a call-in order. Other wait staff walked by without taking notice. Finally got seated and put in a drink order. The waiter forgot a drink and had to be reminded. Left sitting until drinks had condensed and ice melted before he remembered to bring bread. The bread didn’t seem cooked completely. Long wait for meals after ordering. We were so hungry when it finally arrived, brought by someone else and there was such a lag until our waiter came back, that I didn’t send my pulled pork back even though it was lukewarm. Lots of food though. Just wish it had been hot. Then waiter disappeared again until we were done eating. Then he offered to refill my nearly empty glass, also lukewarm by this time. I declined and told him«no thanks, were done». He then spent five minutes on two other tables next to us, before remembering to bring the check. The food could have been great, but the meal was ruined by bad service. Not even a very busy night. Beware. P. S. I wrote the entire review, with my non-tech savvy single index finger, had my wife read it and still had time to get bored in the time between the waiter taking my card and returning with a receipt.

Amazing BBQ. Drinks were great and not over priced. Don’t be fooled everyone gets carded if you order alcohol, so if your 50 and think it’s a compliment, Sorry! Service was great also. Complimentary cheese biscuits are amazing, bit don’t eat too many or you will fill up and not finish your dinner. We were a party of 8 and they even split the bills for couples and singles. We ordered the brisket, hot links, Mac and cheese, fried green tomatoes and every fork full was delicious. The desserts, peanut butter pie and coconut cream pies were sweet mad scrumptious. Always room for dessert.
