Okinawan Isshinryu Karate and Kobudo (weapons) classes for Men, Women and Children from the age of 6 and up. Groups can be formed for Scout or Special groups on Attack Prevention and Stranger Danger. Private lessons available by appointment.

History

Established in 1978.

Prior to opening her Dojo in Smithtown in 1978 Kyoshi Fierro taught in Kings Park and at the Suffolk YJCC. The first location for the dojo was at 59 West Main Street above the Shoemaker and in 1989 expanded Moved to the current location at 135 West Main. We are next door to what was Luso’s at the Smithtown Train Station. Kyishi Fierro has taught as adjunct professor at both Hofstra and Long Island University

Hanshi Fierro has been in the martial arts since 1972 and begain her more dedicated training with Hanshi Nick Adler in 1974. Helping the Centurion Association. Although she has trained in many arts with numerous master instructors, Isshinryu Karate remains her passion. She has been inducted into many martial arts Halls of Fame but the most notable are the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame with a physical location in Commack, NY and the Isshinryu Hall of Fame in Tennessee. To date she remains the only Karate-​Ka inducted into the Jewish Sports Hall in 1997 and the second woman. She was the first woman to be inducted into the Isshinryu hall of Fame in 1998. Sensei Fierro has also taught at Long Island University and Hofstra University as adjunct Professor.
