Hello there!!! OK I have been using Auggies service for sometime now, I own 4 cars .He seems fair and very nice and does the job well. Has said hes given me a few breaks/​upgrades for almost 0.00 $$ So I have to trust him until it goes south!!! So far so good. Auggies is my go-​to mechanic!!! Rated BBB+ at the BetterBusinessBureau. …thats one reason I selected that shop. Havent been disappointed yet! It would have been 5 Stars but I took 1 for price.

First time using this place and it was a great experience. They were completely understanding of my cars situation and got the job done even stayed a little bit after they closed on a Friday to get me finished, I appreciate the work and would recommend them to anyone.

Had a transmission shifting problem with my 97 Land Cruiser. I didn’t know who to bring it too so I check on line for a local shop and found this place had all positive reviews. Gave this place a call and spoke to the Augie about the issues I was having. After speaking with him I was very comfortable with what he had to say. He gave me a very good price for what was being done and also picked up and dropped off my vehicle which made it very easy for me. Great service and price. THANKS!!!

My car is now a 2013 Ford Focus which I purchased Brand new in 2013. This past winter I was coming around a turn being careful to go slow in the snow to maintain control of the car. Well as slow as I was going it was not slow enough because my rear end slid anyway smacking into the curb with the rear right tire.
Ever since then I had a fairly loud noise coming from the back end of the car that was very annoying. I assumed I damaged the bearings which proved to be correct. I brought the car to Augie’s Garage & Smithtown Transmissions for the repair. Augie asked me to bring the car in early and I planned on dropping it off with my girlfriend, and then she would drop me off at my office.
As it turned out she was up very late the night before with a sick relative so I did not want to bother her too early in the morning. I decided to wait for the car, I could work on my job with my laptop in the waiting room at Augies. I arrived at 8:00. Augie told me he was expecting me to drop the car off, he had not intended on me waiting for the car because it was going to take a while just to get the part. I told him I did not care how long it took because I could get my work done right in his waiting room.
What ended up happening was this. He could get the part from his regular part guy but it would not be there until around 2 or 3:00 in the afternoon. So Augie jumped through a few hoops to track down a dealer to get the parts and sent one of his guys to pick it up. All so I would not have to wait all day. And he got the part at a considerably better price than it was originally. This was an expensive part. From the dealer it was about $ 180, from his regular guy, in this case, the part was like $ 240.
He had me out of there by 10:00 on the dot (after 2 most excellent cups of his complimentary coffee). I was delighted with the car and his price for the entire repair was very reasonable. My car is quiet as a mouse again, other that the fairly decent throaty sound of the motor. And right now I’m in my office, typing this review. It’s 11:10 in the morning. I wanted to do this and made sure I did it right away as not to procrastinate getting this review done. Thank you Augie again, for coming through for me again big time.

I have been trusting Augie’s garage for over ten years now. When I first met them, I lived 30 miles away and went to them because they came so highly recommended. I was just a kid and Augie took great care of me instead of trying to be excessive like many other mechanics were. Ten years later, I am still thrilled that I made that decision.
Over the last ten years, they have performed everything from simple oil changes, to complex transmission rebuilds for myself and many of my family members. Augie is extremely reasonable as it relates to pricing and is sure to be very competitive. Most importantly, they have always been able to diagnose any problems I was having, and they have always solved the problem correctly and with top quality service.
This place is a throwback to when you could always trust your mechanic and just shoot the breeze with him. Try them out, they will be sure to get your job done right at an affordable price, and within a timely manner.

Just moved to the area recently and was having transmission issues with my Dodge Dakota. Passed by this place and decided to give them a try. Augie was very knowledgeable he knew exactly what was wrong and got back to me with in a few hours. The turn around time was great for a rebuild especially since I needed this truck to get back and forth to work. I’ve had my transmission rebuilt before on a different truck of mine and in no way does it compare to these guys. Augie’s team really know what they are doing and for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended!

I’ve been an ongoing customer at Augie’s for nearly 10 years now, and they always do fantastic work for me. I have a 2005 Saturn Vue, and admittedly, I am not the best at remembering to take constant care of it. But Augie himself, and the people who work there, always make my car feel good as new every time I’m in there.
I do not know much about car mechanics, so it can be overwhelming to find a new mechanic or repair shop. Because this is our only car, I can’t simply drop it off and come back later. Augie invites me to sit and wait in their sitting room while work is done. This has given me the opportunity to witness firsthand how he and his staff treat not only me, but every single person who walks in or calls on the phone. And I’m always highly impressed at their commitment to service, and fostering trusting relationships with their customers.
I’m rarely impressed with someone’s knowledge of their field or craft. I expect them to be knowledgeable. What impresses me is their ability to convey that knowledge to a lay person like me. Everyone I deal with at Augie’s takes the time to explain what needs to be done on my car, and why. Before doing any work, they always go over a list of their recommendations, with clear explanations as to why I need these things done. There’s never any pressure to do anything, but there is always a willingness to work with me within my budget.
I can’t recommend Augie enough. He and his staff are friendly and personable; they do great work; and they’ve kept my 9 year old car running perfectly. The proof is in the pudding, the car is fantastic!

I’ve been a customer of Augie’s for 22 years now. I keep coming back because he’s been honest and conscientious for all of those 22 years. I will continue to be his customer for as long as I live in the Smithtown area. Augie’s perspective is to assure that all aspects of car care are covered. With this approach my cars have the greatest probability of remaining trouble free on the road year after year. My ’08 Honda Accord and ’05 Jeep Cherokee are both in perfect running condition thanks to Augie and Augie only. I follow the maintenance program recommended by Augie and because of that have never had to pay for major engine or transmission work. Could I go to a mechanic right next to my work location (in Hicksville)? Yes, I could but I won’t. I know that when I go to Augie the job will be done properly. Augie has a good staff as well. His mechanics have always been friendly and helpful to me. If you’re not sure about where to get your car repaired give it to Augie. It will be repaired and you will be satisfied.

To give this business one star is not accurate. it deserves no stars/​Horrible business. We brought our car there because we were told we had some transmission issue by a mechanic. He had run a diagnostic and gave us a code. We decide to go to Augies because he was local and he specialized in transmissions.. My husband gave the mechanic a code and said that it did not mean anything. Here is where the problems began Augie left a message they were getting to car late but would let us know. the next call was that he was up to $ 450 dollars in charge. He took it upon himself to do 8 hours of diagnostics to «see what the problem was» We certainly did not expect to pay nothing BUT we certainly never authorized 8 hours of «so called» diagnostics. I mean after 1, 2 or even 3 hours don’t you think a call to the consumer would be the right thing to do. and let US make the decision to move forward or not. This was a 2006 van that was giving us some problems and were unsure if it was worth putting a lot of work into. We would have like the choice to decide. WE WERE NEVER EVER TOLD UPFRONT about any diagnostic fees and /​or investigation .In all the 30 plus years I have owned a car, I have never had a auto shop charge so much without calling me first. SICKENING. Unfortunately we had to pay his bill or he was then going to charge us storage fess and would not release the car. We offered to meet him half way with our bill but he still refused. Got nasty and loud and extremely disrespectful to me and my husband even tried to talk to him again and absolutely refused to come to an agreement. After all that he actually said he could fix the car. UNBELIEVABLE. Obviously just wanted to make money BUYER BEWARE. we left with a very expensive bill and a car in the exact same condition we brought it in. no repairs ever done and a very valuable lesson. ALWAYS ASK FIRST IF THERE WILL BE ANY SERVICE DIAGNOSTIC FEES BEFORE WORK STARTS. He should be ashamed of the way he speaks to women as well as being a business owner.
