After finding hair not once, not twice, but three times in my meatball sub, I will NEVER go back. I like to support local, but the cleanliness of this place is questionable. The sandwich maker behind counter has long hair and looks dirty./

This is a solid establishment serving the Delmar/Slingerlands area for years. They offer a la carte food, in addition to prepared meals. There’s pizza, subs, salads, pasta, chicken, veal, etc. The prices are reasonable, and the speed is impressive. We’ve had dinner plans fall through, and New Village prepared a dinner in under 20 minutes. The salad, which is 5 bucks, is impressive. It had olives, heart of artichoke, tomatoes, and carrots in addition to the lettuce. The veal was tender and flavorful, the eggplant was nicely done as well.

I’ve loved this place for the dozen years I’ve been up here. The pizza is fantastic as well as the calzones and Stromboli. They even prepare customized pizza and strombolis for me. If you’re craving some good chicken piccata, eggplant rollatini, or chicken saltimbocca, this is very good. The prices are very reasonable and the people are super friendly. I grew up in Brooklyn and Staten Island, so I know my Italian food. This place is amazing.

honestly not too bad, if a little underwhelming on the dinners but i have one minor wrinkle in an otherwise average assessment. why does everything have a slightly oniony oily taste to it, including the coffee thats included with a pretty dang inexpensive breakfast sandwhich deal? also not just this place but why cant anyone use local tomatoes in august? they are practically given away at six small farms within a mile of this deli and the sysco truck is supplying pink tomatoes approximately the texture of raquetballs seems like there may be some sort of health department inspection problem out there but I would happily sign a waiver.

New Village Deli is our favorite Italian take-out in the region by a wide margin which is saying a lot, because there are many good Italian delis we like. If we lived closer, it would be hard to not be here weekly. Great pizza and sandwiches(the roast beef that is roasted in house is a standout), but we typically get dinners and the best garlic knots anywhere. The dinners are delicious, reasonably priced and enormous. One dinner and a salad can easily feed 2 – 3, but we always get one each so we have leftovers. Everything we’ve had is good, but we particularly like the chicken saltimbocca and chicken sorrentino. Only place around we are aware of that makes these dishes with a light marsala sauce instead of a red sauce and that makes all the difference. Marsala flavoring can be overwhelming, but this sauce is done with a light touch and is simply perfect. We have also had New Village Deli cater a number of parties for us. Easily the best catering value around. More importantly though, the food has been fantastic, even when we went off-menu and had them do a brunch. We have gotten so many compliments on the food, that we’ve lost track of them all. At this point, friends and family have stopped asking where the delicious food is from because they all know and many of those lucky enough to live close enough have used the deli for their own events. We’re already up to 5 stars on just the strength of the food, but extra credit for great owners too. Nick and Ginny run a great place and are really nice people. Side note, they also make a great breakfast sandwich on a hard roll. Love having an excuse to be out that way during breakfast hours, but sadly, it rarely happens.

Rude woman(co-owner?) at the register. She’s full of attitude. Guys in the back have nice manners. I’ll pass on this place, though, given her attitude. Sandwiches…eh.

The staff is always friendly and the hot subs are always top notch. Update: 5÷10÷15… I ordered catering for the first time for my son’s college graduation party and it was great as always. I usually just order dinners, pizza etc. All I have to say is Nick’s Chicken, will order catering again.

As far as I’m aware of, this place is the best pizza place in this locality. Every single time I get pizza there it is perfect. There’s so much flavor to them, the dough is the perfect consistency, and it’s got the right amount of cheese and sauce. Add onto that whenever I order delivery they are always arriving on a timely manner!

Wow, what a ridiculously great place! I had read great reviews and I’m so glad I decided to give them a try. Their subs are amazing! They’re delicious and packed with meat. My fiancée and I got the veal and chicken parm subs and we had no idea you would get a full 14 in sub for… get this… less than $ 6! It’s just an amazing deal and so very, very cheap. I’m really excited to try their pizza and this has already become my favorite pizza place in the Albany area, hands down!

After living in Brooklyn for 30 years and now 10 in the Albany area, the pizza at New Village is not only as good as any I’ve gotten down in the city(and better than many of those), but it’s better than just about any other place in a 30-mile radius! And it doesn’t hurt that the owners are nice folks who always have a few nice words and a bit of conversation as they’re taking care of me at the counter!

New Village Deli has delicious old school subs. I got an Italian combo type thing and it was packed with at least a pound of good quality meat. They also added on a heap of fresh mozzarella and some fried pepps too. For under $ 6, this is an amazing value.

When I order out I expect it to be better than what I can make at home. Further, when I order a sub from a so called«deli» I expect there to be at the minimum lettuce, tomatoes, and red onions on it plus other options. This failed both of my expectations which I didn’t think was asking too much. Some coworkers and I decided to order out on this rainy night and it was between new village and shogun as they are both close by from Tastee Freez. I was between the hot buffalo chicken sub and the buffalo chicken salad… should have went with the salad. My coworker got it and that is the reason I added the extra star. It was big and had plenty of different types of veggies. My sandwich on the other hand… It was just buffalo chicken and the bread. Dry as can be, no melted cheese on it or a cup of blue cheese on the side.(See the picture i posted) I thought that was mandatory when ordering something buffalo style. I guess not. Pretty disappointed because I was hoping I could add this to the list of places to order from at work. Also the other sub that was ordered was a meatball sub and she didn’t enjoy that one either.

Ugh. This place was so amazing and disappointing at once. I want this to be the 5-star place it really could be. The pizza tastes so bland and like tomato paste out of a can. :-( What’s good? *It’s a deli and pizza place rolled into one. *I got 2 slices for under $ 4. *The employees were friendly. Still. The pizza just wasn’t good. It looks deceptively like NYC pizza, but it really isn’t.

For working Saturday, my office ordered pizza, wings, and salad from the New Village Deli. In a word… poor, though not bad enough to warrant a 1 star rating. The pizza was very chewy. Not good crust. No flavor to it. I had one slice of pepperoni and one of sausage. The pepperoni was bland. Didn’t even taste it. The sausage actually tasted pretty good. No heat, but good flavor. The sauce tasted like it came straight from a can. Had to dip both slices in ranch to mask the flavor. Wings were ok. Decent flavor sauce, though zero heat for a medium wing. Wings themselves were slimy. I don’t know if it was the wing or the sauce, but it was not pleasant. Didn’t notice the slime once I dipped in ranch. Good amount of meat on the wings. Better than most pizza and wing places. Didn’t try the salad. Overall, I would not eat the pizza and wings from the NVD if I was paying for it myself. We order from there quite a bit the first couple months of the year, and while I will continue to eat it, I will not enjoy it.

This review is based purely on food provided for my work. They get lunch from New Village, it’s not very good. I have been told by friends that when you actually go to this Deli the subs are very good, so based on that and the other reviews seeming to verify that, I have left the review at 2 Stars. I guess you could say this is a review of their catering. Food– 2 Stars Pizza is meh, crust isn’t done enough for me. It’s not terrible but I certainly wouldn’t seek it out. Wings are awful, somehow dry on the inside without being crispy outside. The subs they deliver to us range from moderate/edible to just turribad. The chicken breast one is so dry it’s kinda comical. The bread they come on is actually very good through My office also orders pasta with Chicken«bruschetta», which is also dried to the point of cardboard.

I use to go to New Village Deli for lunch on a regular basis, I worked across the street so walking over to grab a slice of pizza, a deli sandwich, or some type of pizza-roll was always a nice treat. The service is excellent, a very friendly group of employees who seem to actually like their job! My favorite item on the menu was the buffalo chicken roll. Up next I’d put their pizza, with any toppings. I never had a bad meal there out of all the visits. You can feel good about supporting this locally owned business, the owners are truly great people.
