So I had a few minutes to kill before my gf and her mom showed up for dinner. Did some brief driving around/exploring in the area before stumbling upon Touchdown! Sportscards. Really glad I stopped in there. The owner, Eric, was really nice and friendly. He told me that he’s owned the business in the same space since ’99. He explained to me all the different sales & deals going on in the store. He had a plethora of different sports cards hung up on the walls that were all 25% off. He also had a few different glass cases of cards that were on sale as well. Basically, there was some deal to be had on everything in there. He also had a bag of dice sitting on top of one of the glass cases The way it worked was, if you paid $ 10 and rolled the dice, whatever the amount of the dice totaled up to, would be taken off the selected items below. Each card had a $ 15 – 20 value or so, so this was a good deal. I may be a little off on the rules, but you get the jist of it. He also had grab bags behind him that you could pay a certain price for and receive various cards for each sport. Great selection of magazines(both newer and older), as well as some action figures. He gave me a good deal on a handful of baseball cards that I purchased and was also willing to take $ 5 off another card that I expressed interest in(I’ll be back another time for that one. I doubt it’ll go anywhere). Really cool place, but with limited hours: Closed Sun & Mon, T-TH: 4 – 7, F: 3 – 6& Sat: 10 – 5. He said he works during the day, so obviously this is just a hobby of his. I’ll definitely have to make it back in there at some point. I only wish it was less than 30 min away from me. Unfortunately, I’m never in the area. What really made this place different and cool was Eric himself. He wasn’t pushy at all, was very friendly and wasn’t one of those rude, non-friendly sports card shop owners that I’ve typically run into. It’s places like this that really deserve people’s business and I’d be more than happy to frequently give him mine.
