Papa’s Backyard Bar-B-Q

This was outstanding. We hopped off I-​10 in search of food and found this gem less than 5 mins down the road. Excellent (and huge) pulled pork sandwich and super tender ribs. Potato salad was delicious. Only regret was that I had no room left for delicious looking pecan pie. This is a small, friendly and very low-​key place. Highly recommend!

This was absolutely the best BBQ we have had in ages. Delicious. Small little place with delicious BBQ. I love the Mac n chz. PaPa is always there cooking in the back. Greeted us upon arrival and leaving. Also, came out to dining room to check on people eating. I highly suggest of your in the mood for BBQ to head over to his place.

I rarely see 5 star reviews, but Papa’s deserves this. I am a bbq junkie. One of the top 2 world wide I have had to date. Had ribs, chicken, beans and Mac and cheese. All were amazing. He does not do nationwide competitions, he is just a kind humble man with some amazing bbq. Not a full service sit down, but they have seating and will come check on you.

If you are every anywhere close to Slidell, LA you have to try this Barbecue. I have had a lot of barbecue and I would have to say that this has to be the best Barbecue that I have ever had. I only tried the honey flavored, but is the best on the planet!

Best BBQ around. Everything is tender and juicy. The chicken just fell off the bone, the sausage was spicy like I like it and all the sides were delicious. The staff was very helpful and attentive. Will be back often.

Our group of seven had dinner here. All of the menu items were wonderfully crafted. If you’re looking for authentic barbecue food, this is the place.

Some of the finest BBQ to be found in our area & surprisingly some of the best «greens» I’ve ever had outside of my grandmother’s kitchen. Run by an extremely warm & friendly couple, I highly recommend this out-​of-​the-​way culinary gem.

Ordered over the phone and picked up dinner to go. It was amazing and we will be getting to go from here often. The mutt on a bun with honey BBQ sauce was absolute heaven. The Mac and cheese and cornbread. .. Delish! The red beans and rice also had great flavor. Can’t wait to eat here again!

Wow!!! Where has this place been!!! The BBQ here definitely beats everyone. Papas Backyard BBQ is a must and we shall return anytime we want BBQ. The pulled pork sandwich was amazing. We also tried the pulled pork and brisket combo… Again… Amazing! Not only are their meats delicious, the sides are excellent. We had coleslaw, potato salad, yams and jambalaya and all were tasteful and good. Picked up a piece of the homemade pecan pie and there’s no other words to describe it but WOW. I’ve tried many pecan pies and this was by far THE BEST we have had!!! The staff inside was also incredibly nice and made us feel at home. Papas definitely has our business and should have yours too because it’s guaranteed not to disappoint!

Very delicious! Got the pulled pork sandwich with spicy BBQ sauce. Potato salad was also delicious. Would recommend to any one looking for good BBQ in Slidell area. Staff was very friendly and welcoming, even came out to ask us how our food was.

Great BBQ and really cheap prices. Staff who work there are super friendly and even gave us another side for free because we couldn’t make up our mind on what sides we wanted. Great customer service. If I’m ever in the area again I will def. stop by here and purchase food again.

Stopped in here while on a business trip. I think the owners were working in the kitchen. They were so friendly and personable. The bbq was incredibly tender. They also serve collards, which were nicely prepared… seasoned well and tender, but still green with some texture. My friend ordered the bread pudding and he said it was just like his mother makes. If I went there again, I would order the bbq sauce on the side since the meat is good on its on.

Great BBQ… Very tender with several sauce options. Nice clean place… Several TV’s to catch the game. The bread pudding is a must have!

I ordered the rib tips and the wings, I was very pleased. The BBQ was fresh and delicious, and portions were large. I’m not sure why there wasn’t a line going out the door, but thank you Papa, I WILL be back!!!

This has been my go to place in the New Orleans area for the past 8 months of living here. After having BBQ in notorious places such as Texas, Memphis and North Carolina, Papa’s can hang with big guys! They smoke all their meats in-​house daily and they are cooked to perfection.
My go to item is the brisket sandwich on their homemade bun. I prefer to get all my meals sans bbq sauce as the meat alone is delicious. I do always get a side or 2 of the various sauces and add it as needed.
Finally…their sides! The mac-​and-​cheese is my personal favorite. I have also had the jambalaya and beans and those were also DELICIOUS!
This place is not to be missed! They recently added additional seating which only enhances the experience. (It was previously a walk-​up to the counter style restaurant with a few seats.)
PS: I personally haven’t tried their desserts, but they always look amazing. I’m always too full after my meal!
