Kentucky Reptile Zoo is a nonprofit organization dedicated to venom extraction for the production of antiserum and venom for medical and pharmaceutical research.

The Kentucky Reptile Zoo is also dedicated to education by providing guided tours of our facility and offsite programs. Please see our website for prices and days the facility is open to the public for tours and directions, as well as more information about our offsite programs.

The venom extraction schedule for the public is subject to change at the last second prior to extraction. Please call ahead the day you wish to tour the facility and view venom extractions to confirm.

As of December 2015, the facility is closed to tours for the public due to maintenance and upgrades. The Zoo will reopen for business as usual March 4, 2016.

History

Established in 1990.

The founder and current director, Jim Harrison, has worked with venomous snakes since his youth. After retiring from law enforcement, Jim relocated to eastern Kentucky and began work on the Kentucky Reptile Zoo.
