Everything is overpriced junk and it’s all made in China should be china toy not US toy

Always happy with my purchases here. Love that they laminate and special order for me. Sales people are helpful and courteous.

During my last visit I noticed they had cleaned up the store a bit (it had been extremely dusty and old-​looking before). However, I do think the prices on many of the items are quite high (Amazon is usually cheaper, but teachers don’t always have the time to wait for the items to be shipped). Also, the store is always really dead (maybe one or two other people in the store). Yet, I’m rarely asked if I need help.
If you are a teacher, be sure to ask for a discount card so you receive a 10% discount each time you make a purchase. Otherwise, check into Unilocal and show the person at the checkout counter for a discount.

I love this place! I have been shopping here for years. They have all the right educational toys for my kids. The staff is very friendly!

This place has its faults, but some of these reviews are just silly and incorrect. The membership is totally free and takes seconds to get. And complaining because not all purchases are not eligible for a coupon? Really?
But, there are plenty of actual faults with this place. They have some crazy awesome sales, but much of the regular pried stuff is more expensive than elsewhere. The service is inexcusably awful.

I have been on line looking for coupons to use at Constructive Playthings and the only coupons I can find are for amounts spent over $ 49.00. What about those of us who are spending a little less than that. It seems that the only way you might get a 10% discount or free shipping is if you spend a lot of money. I have an item that costs $ 42.99 — which I think is a lot of money — and can’t find one coupon to use.
How about issuing coupons for all customers — not just the big spenders!

I’ve been shopping U.S. Toy for years now and it keeps getting better and better. They have the best variety of Playmobil and Lego. Their catalog items are great. Sometimes they’re not always in stock, but the associate told me I can just order thru the store, they’ll call me when it arrives, and best of all– no shipping charges.
I signed up for their membership program. It took a minute to fill out and is totally free! I put my email down and they send me some great coupons. The employees are always asking if I’m finding everything okay and have always been good. I always recommend this place to my family and friends.

After spending a good half an hour picking out various trinkets in the store, I ended up leaving everything behind. I found the process at the register ridiculous and offensive. In sum, avoid this place.
I hate stores that play tricks on their customers. Note that none of the prices listed on various items is correct. All of those prices require a membership that costs money and involves all sorts of tedious paperwork. I have never seen a store mislabel everything the way this store does.

Yes, they have amazing amounts of crazy art supplies, carnival give-​aways, and party supplies. Yes, stickers of anything and everything… magic tricks, study charts, pre-​school games and puppets, rubber balls, tempera paint, balloons and costumes, shakers and maracas… it’s always an adventure scouring this large store of fun and games… all that said, the staff is just terrible. They act like unpaid glue-​sniffing interns or kids of the owner who can’t be fired. More than a few times they have totally put a huge bummer on what started out to be a fun buying spree. They once had a poorly labeled shelf of books «on sale» with false prices… and I only knew that by watching them charge me for them. We had a sort of heated back and forth about it and I ended up not getting the over priced NOT ON SALE books. Next time I came in (a month later) nothing had changed. The books were still mislabeled and incorrectly priced. Then there was the time I wanted to buy a little rubber ball for my son. How much is this tiny rubber ball? You can’t find it in your system even after trying over and over for ten minutes?!! And now you need to send one of your lackeys to do a price check… for 15 more minutes?! Seriously?!! IT’S A FREAKING RUBBER BALL!!! JUST CHARGE ME 35 CENTS AND LET ME GET ON WITH MY LIFE ALREADY!!!

CP seems to want to be a toy store, teacher supply store & art supply. I say «seems to be» because it doesn’t really fulfill in any of those areas. There’s nothing here that you can’t find somewhere else, for a few bucks cheaper too.

Great place to buy home school products. They have quality merchandise. However, they also offer cheap Oriental Trading Company-​type items like for giveaways — kazoos, necklaces, baubles, etc. Staff are pretty friendly. Easy to get to, near police station in Skokie.
