History

Established in 1976.

Hub’s Restaurant achieved national recognition when NBC’s Saturday Night Live portrayed Hub’s in two humorous «You like-​a-​da-​juice?» skits during the early 1990’s. In 1999 & 2000 Hub’s won the Silver Platter Award which is considered the Oscar’s by Hollywood standards. In 2011 and 2012 Hub’s was nominated and won the Skokie Beautification Award and has currently been nominated for the 2013 award.

For almost four decades, Hub’s has served countless satisfied customers. Pleasant ambiance, consistently fine quality food and friendly service have made this restaurant a long-​time local favorite.

Wish i could give them a 0 star I came into this suppose to be good restaurant today but apparently I was disappointed we ordered there chicken wings it took 25mins to get them and after sitting so long for them they came out uncooked with blood still coming out of them I will NOT come to this place EVER AGAIN that’s why I should of went with my first decision with Dengeos and the owner didn’t apologize

What has happened to your food??? I used to love you 10 – 15 years ago so today I ordered my fave ckicken ka bob. No tomatoes green peppers. Just onions and the driest chicken ever. And way more expensive for such poor quality.

I haven’t been to Hub’s in years. No reason… just thought the *other* gyros restaurant in Skokie had a tastier and more meaty sandwich. I had a gyros sandwich and was very pleased with the amount of meat, onions and tomatoes given. It could have been a bit more flavorful, yes… my husband had the ½ pound burger. It was gigantic but overcooked. He had asked for «medium» and it was «well done» and a bit dry. Would definitely come back though since it is close to my home.

My kids and I were hungry (as usual) and did not have the patience to wait an hour and a half to have spicy mussels (drooling just typing that) from the seafood place nearby so Hub’s was the closest place from where we were at. I know that Hub’s has been serving great gyros and then some, for many years. Here is a breakdown of what we’ve tried:
GYRO PLATTER $ 9.50– I am not sure if it’s because I’ve been addicted to the spicy gyros from another place that’s why the meat here did not work for me. It was bland and dry. The fries were great, there were a lot of shaved onions, a couple of tomato slices, and one pita bread. One.
MUSHROOM BURGER $ 7.95– half pound of juicy and delicious beef patty.
HOT WINGS $ 9.45– minimum of 10 pcs per order. Unfortunately, the wings were very dry and not as“hot” for our taste. You can tell from the photo how dry the wings looked (and tasted).
Overall, I felt bad for disappointing my kids (and myself) from imagining having the spicy mussels. and ending up having the above mentioned dishes. It was fun sharing the fries though:)

Good veggie burgers! Wish they had sour cream for the potato instead of their mystery white sauce in the little tub. My husband orders the burger medium and it’s always over cooked. After this happening several times he refuses to go back. The lady at the counter was less than friendly to him too. I may go back without him for their veggie burger. I wish they had self serve drink refills. One thing I noticed is they don’t butter the buns and it seems like they throw it on the flame and it ends up dried out. I guess I need to specify not grilled.

This place is fantastic. While in Chicago on business, my husband and I ate here every night we were there. The spaghetti was so good, I got it every night and my husband loved the gyros and the Greek salad. The customer service was excellent and the delivery time was fast. It seemed expensive at first, but when we got our food, it was so much we were able to eat leftovers the next day. You will not be disappointed if u eat here.

Had the gyro plate. A little pricey at $ 14.25. They give you a ton of meat and one stinking piece of pita bread! When I asked for extra bread and tziki sauce, they charged me another $ 1.40 for it. Won’t be back.

The Good, The Bad and the Scary…
THE GOOD-​The Greek Salad was delicious, the ingredients were fresh, they delivered within 30 minutes and the delivery fee was very reasonable.
THE BAD-​The salad dressing was spilled inside the bag and made a huge mess at my desk, I guess its my fault for eating at my desk at work.
THE SCARY-​They DO NOT have a secure checkout for online ordering if you are wanting to pay with a credit or debit card. The restaurant called me after my order was submitted and I gave them my CC over the phone… now for the SCARY PART, when the driver arrived he asked to see my card, he then took my card and placed it between two sheets of paper (with carbon paper) and made an impression of my full credit card! THIS IS NOT SECURE! I understand wanting to «see» the card for verification purposes-​but MAKING AN IMPRESSION OF IT, its just not secure!

Love, love this place. Used to come here (and the Chicago location) all the time when I lived nearby. Came back today and had the steak sandwich (skirt steak on garlic bread with fries and cole slaw), my old favorite. As before, the family owners, who work behind the counter or are sitting in the dining room with patrons/​friends, are very friendly. Try it if you haven’t already!

Horrible! I don’t care they’ve been around for years. I’m sure their business is not what it was years ago and that’s because the quality of the food has dropped and so has the service. If you want rough unseasoned chicken then go to this place. Honest the worse chicken I’ve had and I use to order from this place all the time (years ago) I decided to order lunch today. Wish I would have stuck with my original choice, Dengeos.
And why is the lady that answers the phone so damn unpleasant?

Okay. Let me just say this is the worst Gyros spot in Chicago. The Sauce is like bought from a store taste like nothing. Tzatziki sauce is suppose to be tasty that’s what makes a gyros sandwich good. Gyros meat all comes from the same places Davonco foods or Kronos. The prices are cool but for the food they need to be more reasonable. I just can’t see myself coming here when I’m in Chicago. I’d rather go to Dengeous and have their gyros and they don’t even specialize in it. Just sad. Only reason I gave them 2 stars was just because the tables were clean and the staffs cool. If you want gyros go somewhere else not Hubs.

I will never eat from this place again. While in this location I noticed the owner remove a piece of pita bread from the bag, flip it over, then pass it to another guy who looked like a vendor. This guy did the same thing & passed to yet another guy. Then back to the owner who then placed it back into the bag. I said to him are you going to put that back in there to be used? He said it’s ok I’m the owner. I said I don’t care who you are that is unsanitary. I then canceled my order, requested my money back & have never been back.

I always crave for gyros meat & this place just so happened to be nearby my boyfriend’s home in Skokie. ^_​~ Great service & friendly employees, feels real legit, as in authentic. I’ve been on a ketogenic diet for so long & they had no problem with accommodating my meals for salads instead of carbs.
I ordered a gyros plate with the meat well done. It comes with a side of tzatzik sauce, (delicious by the way) thinly sliced raw onions & slices of tomato.
I asked for no pita bread, no fries & instead a side salad with house Greek dressing. (No charge)
The meat was delicious, I’d probably ask for not as well done next time, but the caramelized edges add a lot more flavor, yummy! The food was prepared in a timely manner, I didn’t wait long at all.

So I did try the ribs and yes like Bill said they are good. Very tender meat and they were cooked right! I went back in again and Bill the owner saw me back again for the 3rd time in just a 2 week span and he bought me a CAR!!! Ok ok ok so maybe I’m telling a fib, but he did buy me LUNCH that day. Since then my family and I have tried more food. Yeah we all love to eat. So this place not only has good food but it has people in it that really give two shits about cooking food that makes people full and happy. I must say the food would not be as good to my belly and soul if ^@%holes were selling it!

Excellent ribs, large plentiful salads, and they’re known for their gyros, which we think are the best in the area. (Quality ingredients and they give you more food than Dengeo’s, at comparable cost.) Actually a very similar menu of Greek — style food… yet the upside of Hub’s is that they’re open later. Good desserts, too! Prompt, friendly service from a family that’s been in business for a while. We remember when they remodeled many years ago and they are just as busy now as they were back then. That’s a great sign!
