Our 6000 sq. ft. showroom offers Traditional, Transitional and Modern handmade rugs from scatter size to room sizes. Our rugs are from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Iran and Armenia. In addition, we offer fine wool and nylon carpeting from major US manufactures as well as manufactures around the globe.

History

Established in 1915.

The Nahigian story begins with Hovsep C. Nahigian opening his first store in the Chicago loop in 1910. Grandfather Nahigian was known throughout the midwest as one of the foremost connoisseurs of Oriental rugs. His first store featured both new and antique fine Persian rugs. His sons, Dee and Jack, both graduates of Northwestern University, joined their father in business in the 1930’s. The H. C. Nahigian Company moved to West Chicago Avenue in Chicago and was incorporated in 1934 as H. C. Nahigian and Sons, Inc.

During the next thirty years, the company grew to become a well respected oriental rug and carpet retailer. In addition, H. C. Nahigian & Sons became very well known in the Chicagoland area for their rug and carpet cleaning as well as rug restoration services. Then in 1960s Hovsep Nahigian’s grandsons, Dee Nahigian Jr. and Jack Nahigian Jr., joined their fathers in the business. In 1964, the company moved to its present location on Golf Road in Skokie where it’s located today

Manager

Tom Jorjorian has been in the Oriental Rug business for 28 years. His grandfather and father both were in the business. One of Tom’s passions is the cleaning and restoration of antique rugs. He enjoys discussing with the customer the options open to them to restore their rug and supervising all of the work from beginning to end.
