Paul Construction & Awning

I am very happy with my deck. Paul is very creative and the craftsmanship was excellent and they took time and attention to detail. It was very much worth the time. I feel I have a truly well-​built custom deck. I also had them install a door and awning and this added a wonderful area in my home. I value this truly well-​constructed and beautiful deck. I would highly recommend them.

Paul was very eager to have us sign a contract last Fall when we got a deck estimate. After considering multiple estimates we went with Paul because he said he didn’t subcontract and we liked the optional lighting options. When we were ready to get started this Spring Paul wasn’t as responsive and took longer to get started. We also were surprised to see it wasn’t him building or supervising the building of the deck. Instead he uses other deck builders that he hires (basically subcontracting). The construction of the deck was fine, though when we had an issue and my wife called him upset, he said he wasn’t going to talk to her, but needed to speak with me. Not very professional for a man in the business 25 years. The stairs were also supposed to be 4′ wide. I happened to measure when they were done and realized they were more like 42″. When I asked him about it, he said in construction things aren’t always exact. (Really?) I am giving him a C because overall we are happy with the finished product, but there were some issues as noted. Oh, also we wanted to use a credit card to earn point and his Angie’s List profile says he accepts credit cards. When I went to do so he told me that they don’t accept credit cards. Needs to correct his profile.
