Top quality coffee without the attitude, hype and acidic after burn. The crowd is an unlikely Midwest urban mix. I enjoyed the vibe and people watching almost a much as I enjoyed my Espresso! Fabulous and I will be back!

diamond in the rough. Surprisingly busy mid-day during the week which made finding a free outlet hard, but overall really enjoyed the experience and latte.

I said, «I’ll take a macchiato.» He said, «Alright.» And then a little bit later, «I’m gonna try to make a cortado and if it doesn’t turn out, it’s a macchiato.» Then when I was trying to pay he was like, «Ya I don’t know how much that is. Couple bucks 2, 3 dollars, I don’t know.» What a brilliant strategy. If you don’t know what you’re doing very well, then act like this, like a complete loon. Then people won’t know what to think. The macchiato or cortado, whatever it turned out to be, was quite average. Maybe he didn’t know what he was doing but he was cool enough about it that it totally made up for an imperfect drink. The place was average, the machinery was average and the coffee was average(although I’ve heard that the beans they roast are excellent even if the drinks may not always be…), but overall it was a four star experience.

We stopped in for a quick cup of coffee, and even with only one person working and several people in line ahead of us, the service was very quick. The woman working was very nice, and happily explained the menu to us. Definitely make an effort to stop here if you’re in need of coffee in Sioux Falls.

decent coffee but why is it no one had decent baked goods? I mean how hard is it?

Really pretty decent coffee! A nice place to get together with a friend and sit for awhile. As mentioned, the general atmosphere is stuck up. Oh well. If you find yourself on twelfth for some strange reason, it’s a good place to hang out. Three stars for the pretentious-ness. Four for the coffee if you get the right barista and for being able to sit for hours if needed and if courtesy is observed!

Had an americano and a cup of coffee, both were very good and the atmosphere is very culturally diverse. Since it is in South Dakota and it is winter, a temperature increase would be awesome. Be prepared to wear a few layers and pack some wool socks and maybe a toe warmer if your visiting during the winter months. Overall: Good coffee and service but the environment isn’t «cozy»

Cool place… too cool to carry carmel or whip cream. You know the place. They are more concerned with making a political statement than brewing coffee. I see all the 4-stars, however, I’m from Seattle and I’m a coffee connoisseur and I can tell you it’s far from 4-star coffee. Even 3-stars is pushing it.

The best lattes in Sioux Falls hands down. There is nothing better to me than taking that first sip of one of their handcrafted lattes(this is not a Charbucks production line) the richness of the Crème of Black Sheep’s signature Sasquatch espresso has got to be what people mean when they say the nectar of the gods. Black Sheep is under new management and you can tell. Cleanliness and ambiance has tremendously improved. It is a great place to people watch, but I usually make the across town trek for my cup of happy and enjoy it at home. To truly enjoy this cup of Java is to sit down relax and sip it until it’s gone.

After what seemed like an eternity of crappy coffee on our cross country drive, the quality of coffee at this place was a godsend. Delicious, absolutely delicious. We didn’t visit any other coffeeshops in the city, so I can’t compare the décor, or the music, or anything like that, but I do know good coffee, and I found it here.

Five stars for coffee, but if I based it on service, it would be 2. (We are traveling across the country and came in at 8:15 on Sunday morning.) When we first walked in, we loved the atmosphere. Great ecclectic décor. And based on the characters sitting out front, and those that came in after us, I can see how people watching would be fun. However, when the barista looked up and saw us, she seemed less than enthused to have customers. She didn’t smile once. When we asked her about certain drinks, she seemed irritated that she had to explain things to us. Now, let me say that I am from the northwest, and I know most types of coffee drinks. However, they have specific names for their drinks here, and there is no description listed underneath. For example, how would we know that the espresso slush has chocolate in it? It doesn’t say that anywhere. Just those type of things. She just seemed all around unhappy. It was frustrating, because I had read such great reviews about the people who worked there, and I so wanted to have a great experience. Again, let me say that the coffee we got was amazing!

Atmosphere is good, very culturally diverse crowd, and the bold coffee could start a diesel engine(which is great for me). I always have good service as well.

I feel this is as close to a «cheers» as you’re gonna get. The staff, regulars, drinks, and small selection of breakfast items, are all fantastic. Sure things may run a little slow sometimes, but you know they’re putting effort into everything they do.

I don’t have much to add that hasn’t already been written. The people watching at Black Sheep might be the best thing about it. There’s always an interesting mix, from loud, opinionated professors, to the wannabe hipster kids, to the Ethiopian guys from Lalibela. The in-house roasting is very cool, but beware: it can make the place smokey, and it has a very, um, distinct odor. I’ve found that the people making the coffee CAN be a little coffee snob-ish, which I don’t appreciate. Once I ordered a macchiato and was told, «We don’t make ours like Starbucks.» Well, if I wanted Starbucks, I’d be there, right? Another time I asked for a latte made with soy milk, and the guy sniffed, «Hm. First time for everything.» Guess they don’t have many vegans come through? I also have to second what others have said about the speed of service – definitely not the place to stop for a quick cup on the way to work. Not if you’re running late, that is. So. Yeah yeah, it’s great, but when I want speedier, friendlier service, and a whole lot less poseur nonsense, I go to Queen City.
