Bev’s On the River

Two thumbs up for this restaurant, which is connected to the Hilton Garden Inn and makes for a great dinner if you’re staying in the hotel. Or even if you’re not.
We had a huge table of 15 and they were more than happy to accommodate us. The waitress even offered to split our tickets, which is a rare offer to get with such a big group.
We ordered appetizers for the table — calamari, crab dip, bruschetta and the poke stack, which was tuna and avocado on top of rice and crab. The stack was the best, highly recommend.
For dinner I had the ribeye steak. The steak was great and very well cooked. The side of cheesy potatoes could have used a little less salt. But were still very good along with the green beans.
Some of dining compatriots had the ahi tuna, which looked amazing and they said was very delicious.

Had the Walu for dinner. The menu claims «overnight deliveries from our distributor in honolulu make this deep water, flaky white fish one of the freshest catches on the menu.»
The fish was far from flaky or fresh tasting. It tasted frozen and the meat was water heavy.
The asparagus was average.
The salad and pretzel bread delightful.
I would be interested in tasting the flaky and fresh version.

So I’ll start with the pros. The place is nicely decorated. Clean and great ambiance. Drinks were good. I had a nice Coppola Malbec, hubby had a couple delicious on tap Stella Artois and the buddy friend enjoyed some icy glasses of draft Bud Lights. The crab cake appetizer was delicious as was the cheesy crab dip. House salads and wedge salad both gets thumbs up. Buddy friends sirloin was tasty and he gave the cheesy potatoes a thumbs up as well. My daughter ordered the chicken strips kids meal and they were very tasty. Now to the cons. Hubby ordered the Hawaiian Walu which is said to be delivered overnight daily from Honolulu. Chewy and lacked flavor. I’m guessing he received Friday’s order since it was Sunday. I ordered the petite tenderloin tournedos, one smothered in a house Demi glaze and one in bearnaise. The Demi glaze tenderloin based on unanimous decision between the three adults was the most tasteless piece of meat one has ever chewed and swallowed. The bearnaise tenderloin was a tad bit better. I even had to ask for a more heavy duty steak knife to cut both filets. So in conclusion, go for the drinks and appetizers. I really wanted a crème brûlée but after the disappointing tenderloins, I didn’t want to waste any more money on something I really love and be dissatisfied.

Everything was great. Service and food were both pleasantly surprising and wonderful. We did not save room for desert but ordered it anyway — great life decision.

Had chicken fried steak and a Caesar salad. In one word: yum! The view of the Missouri River is also a plus!

What a great find! Traveling cross country and Bevs was near our hotel. The server, Ellie, was super friendly and the food delicious. We are glad we stumbled upon Bevs.

Very good prime rib, nice day on the patio overlooking the river and a friendly staff. Definitely worth the visit if you are in the area. The prime rib was thin but they still managed a medium rare with nice flavor. The mashed potatoes were perfectly executed well.

The atmosphere was really nice. Our group enjoyed a nice outside table overlooking the river. It would have been nice to have some candle light on the table. It was very dark and hard to read the menu. The bruschetta appetizer was very good. The pasta and sliders were just okay. The only main course that got really good reviews was the steak. Service meet expectations. It wasn’t great and it wasn’t terrible. Errors and other requests were handled appropriately.

Popped up from neighboring Nebraska… Three hour drive and a two hour wait until check-​in at the Hard Rock Sioux City. So killing time at one of my favorite upscale dives «Bev’s on the river». Sipping a Stoli martini and chatting with family. I only wish it was later so I could challenge my palate with the dinner menu! Never had a bad meal here. The river view is amazing, but it’s cool inside at the granite bar. Loving my long lazy weekend.

A huge restaurant restaurant like this one should staff appropriately for a busy night in Sioux City. Especially since they should be aware this is the weekend leading up to The big Sturgis rally. They were not well staffed and the staff they did employ seemed to have the communication skills required for solitary confinement. The service was abysmal and this is too bad after all the glowing reviews I read… I had my hopes up for a good meal after a long day driving through the heartland. We left before our meal arrived as we’d waited for 45+ minutes without update on the entrees. The sad appetizer salads we received were merely functional as salads and their remnants not cleared after they were obviously finished. We found the hostess, paid for our drinks and left. However, the pretzel bread was tasty.

After a long day in the car as we continue our road trip from Florida to Seattle my son requested eating dinner somewhere that we could be outside. This place was an excellent choice we sat on the patio and watched all the activity on the river. To start we got the crab cheese dip… loved. I tried an Iowa craft beer and Iowa stuffed pork chops, my husband had the country fried steak and my son had the chicken pot pie. The servings were large and the flavor was great. None of us left their hungry or had room for desert!

Very polite and prompt service. The music on the patio is fantastic and the food matches it. Beautiful evening on the river, I couldn’t ask for more.

Ordered a Walu fish straight from Hawaii. It was one of the best fish I’ve ever had! It was seared and topped with a Parmesan sour cream. It came with clam chowder soup, Parmesan risotto and jumbo asparagus. Delicious! And it’s under $ 25!

Sat at the bar… reasonable beer prices… and a couple Iowa craft beers available. They were out of my first choice, the walleye… so I third Hawaiian Walu and was Not one bit disappointed. Not a huge portion but delicious.
A little pricey… but the quality was there!

One of the better restaurant in Sioux City. Great atmosphere and a great view of the Missouri River the wait stuff is great. The food is also way above average for Sioux City, this by far is the best all-​round fine dining restaurant in town

The only reason this restaurant isn’t getting a five star rating is because I’m weary of handing those out. I ordered the 14oz prime rib which came with a huge baked potato and steamed veggies. The piece of meat was more than I could fit into my stomach comfortably but I did my best to polish it off. My girlfriend got bacon wrapped scallops that looked rather tasty but I’m not a fan of scallops so I did not try them. We started with calamari which was delicious. I also ordered a Moscow mule which I was happy to see come in a copper mug although I have had better. All in all we had a good experience with proper service, good food, and quiet conversation.

AMAZING filet mignon. I had the wedge salad and cocktails. This place is awesome. Service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere was clean and beautiful!! Extremely affordable! I will comeback again next time I’m in town on business!

I love this restaurant during the summer. We always choose outdoor seating. The atmosphere and décor are all top notch! I’ve been here several times and tried several different dishes and have yet to be disappointed.
It’s a bit in the high class side for Sioux City. The food isn’t the cheapest, but it’s a great spot for a special date. Or you can come at lunch time with anyone.
My daughter and I came for lunch and both had the soup, salad and breadstick for $ 6.50. We left full for under $ 20! It was all delicious too! Highly recommend!

Went back and fourth between a four and a five, and obviously settled on a five. While there were a few finesse issues that would have been nice, the friendly, engaging service and food swayed the day
I was very pleased with my meal. The hot pretzel bread was superb and the butter was spreadable from the start! The salad and blue cheese dressing was very good. A minor issue, I would have liked them to offer the fresh ground black pepper instead of having to ask. As. Said minor but it would have been a nice touch
The prime rib was excellent. Cooked as ordered (medium rare) and tender throughout. The 10oz portion was generous and had a nice mar belling of fat, i.e. Not too much! The sides were well done. A well prepared baked potato (I would not call it loaded, no chives) and the vegetable medley was excellent as they were hot and had a nice little crunch.

Bev’s is one of the nicer restaurants in Sioux City with a nice atmosphere on the banks of the Missouri river. While known for their steaks, the menu offers a wide range of choices, including a couple of signature pork dishes, a variety of interesting chicken options plus a handful of pasta dishes. The men settled on red meat, including the 11 oz. ribeye and beef tenderloin tournedos, two 4oz filets. The women both chose cashew chicken stir fry. Everything comes with a house salad, a generous serving, and the steaks included grilled vegetables and cheesy potatoes, although mine were more similar to potatoes Napolean. The food, the presentation and the service were all above average.
The wine list covers all the bases and is the most affordable one I’ve seen in years. But, then again, I’m used to big city prices. As an added bonus, all bottles under $ 99 (which is almost everything), are half price on Wednesday’s. It lost a little respect, though, when I spotted a White Zinfandel. Maybe it’s the market they serve, but really, in this day and age?
Our tab for four was $ 90 pre-​tip and didn’t include any alcohol, but did include one dessert. The bread pudding was good, but I’m a Southern boy used to tasting whiskey or rum in my sauce. It claimed to come with a bourbon sauce, but I tasted nary a drop. Come on, Bev’s, make it real.
Honestly, I left impressed at the quality of the food for a town like Sioux City. It’s a touch of big city sophistication in a rather casual town.
