History

Established in 1922.

In 1922, Robert Pringle, fresh from Scotland, started a small automotive garage on Canal Street in Weatogue, Connecticut. From that humble beginning, we have grown to become dealers for the Volvo, Saab, Dodge, VW, Subaru, Land Rover and Chrysler! Seven stores along with a state-​of-​the-​art body shop are now a part of our auto group. Our company directors have been with us for over 50 years of combined service. Their commitment and dedication has proven itself time and time again especially in the area of new business start-​ups. Their combined skills have allowed our business to show stable, charted growth. The average length of service in our company is 9.5 years! The worst service department of any dealer I have ever dealt with. The manager is a rude twit and she is enough alone for me to never do business with Mitchell again both in sales and service. The service writer was just as rude and does not really listen to what you are telling them. I am a former ASE certified master technician and thoroughly explained the issue to deaf ears.

Worst dealership I have ever used, and they didn’t used to be. My family has trusted them for years and purchased 7 cars from them. Something has changed in the last two years, especially with service since Jean is no longer there. Yesterday my wife was in a minor accident that could have been far more serious if it wasn’t for a snow bank and guard rail. Mitchell hasn’t been bothering to keep us up to date on the status of the tires and they were bald. We take it in for oil changes regularly a day were relying on them to watch the tires, especially since we bought them from them. In addition, both my mother and sister have had issues with the service department. They used to care about their customers and really believed in the Chrysler 5-​star dealer program and now they couldn’t care less. I will NEVER return to them for anything.
After hearing from Brett, I was hopeful for a resolution but was not given one, in fact I was condescended too and treated like a child. One of the many things I was told was that they would make the «report card» of the cars status easier to read, even though I wasn’t given one and I told her about this. The issue wasn’t with any paperwork I received, it was because of the poor service they gave and the fact the claim the condition of the tires weren’t a factor but «even new tires can slip in this weather». I also mentioned by sister’s car and nothing was even mentioned about this on the return phone call. Good try but you failed…

If there was an option to select zero stars for this dealership’s service department, I’d have selected it in a heartbeat. They charged me $ 550 for a «front control module» in my Jeep — per their own technician’s advice — which did nothing to rectify the problem it was supposed to fix. Their service manager then refused to refund that unnecessary expense to me, or give me a credit for all or some of the $ 550 against labor or another part that (purportedly) will ultimately fix the problem. Find another place to service your vehicle if you don’t like to be separated from your hard-​earned income for no reason…
UPDATE #1: The General Manager for this dealership has agreed to write off the cost of the unnecessary part and charge only for the diagnostic work previously performed — the correct call — much appreciated. Upgrading to 3 stars based on this; however, this could have been a 4 or 5 star review if they had just done right by me in the first place instead of elevating my blood pressure to an unhealthy level.
UPDATE #2: Well, what do you know. We’re back to one star again. Dropped off my Jeep this morning to have the «correct» part installed (we’ll see), and inquired about the $ 550 that still hadn’t been credited back to my card. Now I am being told the dealership agreed to absorb only the cost of the «correct» part and the labor to install it, but not the totally unnecessary part for which I’d already paid and the associated diagnosis time (which led to the wrong part being ordered in the first place). Awesome — just what I wanted to hear at 7 am. As stated orginally, I would not recommend servicing your vehicle with these folks.

I contacted internet sales manager Steve regarding a certified used Jeep. We ended up not making a deal, but he was very reasonable, easy to work with, responsive, and most importantly straight forward. Sadly, It is difficult to tind these qualities in a dealer. While I did not purchase the Jeep, I would absolutely recommend that dealership and will continue to watch their inventory to see if something else catches my eye.
