they have so many adorable rescued puppies for adoption!!! they even have a thrift store right next door that 100% benefits all the dogs! amazing place. staff could be a bit more friendly, but that’s ok! great spot anyways!

Well, like Is said in my initial post; regardless of TLC’s decision to allow me to adopt, I knew another organization would be able to recognize that I could provide a loving home for a puppy…& this application actually asked for references & followed up with them (shocker I know lol)! SO happy with the new addition to our family & he is not neglected or in danger as TLC assumed a puppy would be in my care. I am actually considering to adopt another puppy sometime in the near future; unfortunately because of the rude/​judgmental treatment I received from TLC, it will not be through them. However despite my negative experience I am thrilled to find out that they have found a new and BIGGER location :)

We found TLC through a TV ad that my husband happened to see one morning. We decided to drive out to see the dogs the next day, telling ourselves that we were just going to LOOK, definitely not take one home! Aubrey was so friendly and knowledgeable. She knows every single one of the 60 or so dogs in her care. She knows their stories, what they like, what they dislike. She asked about our home, our family and how often the dog would be alone. I got the sense that they are very careful about the type of environment they place their dogs in. Well, of course, we fell in love with several dogs and the resolve to just «LOOK» was quickly forgotten! We took Dingo and Dawson home, leaving behind others who tugged at our heartstrings as well.
One of the scariest things about adopting a pet is the worry about how they will fit in to the family. There were absolutely no surprises with Dingo and Dawson… they are each exactly how Aubrey described they would be. We highly recommend TLC and will definitely adopt from them again when the time comes.

Went to TLC a couple of times already, and the volunteers/​employees have all been very helpful. Aubrey in particular has been very kind and informative.
I was looking a pit bull mix puppy, who had the cutest puppy eyes and playful demeanor. Aubrey let me know that having a such a dog could have some setbacks if I should ever move from a house to an apartment, since many apartments do not take dogs, and if they do, they may have breed restrictions against pit bulls and pit bull mixes. She really opened my eyes and made me seriously consider any future housing plans before committing myself to a dog adoption. I’m glad to know that the workers here are really looking after their animals, and that they want the best possible homes for them. I would hate for another pit bill/​pit bull mix to be in a pound/​shelter just because an owner didn’t anticipate future plans.
Overall, great experience at this shelter. They are exceptional workers that care deeply for their animals.

I went this weekend dog hunting. All other rescue shelters (5 i went to) had dogs out in the heat, so sad. This place was awesome!!! All the dogs were grouped together by type. They put the dog i was interested in the common area so we could watch and see if he was a marker and how, he socialized with others. All the volunteers were awesome! So nice the dogs have an indoor facility to sleep in and air conditioning! It’s sad for me to see people reporting this rescue. These are homeless animals and I would hate to see anyone or any agency jeopardize this just because of a deposit issue. Each volunteer was very helpful. Crystal was awesome! The dogs looked happy and clean. Thank goodness for those who help to keep this shelter open and the volunteers! If your looking for pet this is an amazing place. They give great history on each animal.

This is one of the only animal rescue establishment I donate regularly to. Linda and her staff are nothing but top notch and the animals’ care is paramount. I received a rescue dog from TLC completely by accident and I was not looking to have another dog. That dog has become my best friend and we could not be happier. We donate regularly to help out these other angels. I have recommended TLC to a friend of mine and they got their beloved angel from them. I cannot say enough good words about this organization. PLEASE! If you’re considering a dog, check them out first. They truly do care about these dogs and they always do what is in the best interest of them. We believe in you, TLC!!!

My experience with TLC has been nothing but the best! I donate to worthy animal support groups and I totally vetted this organization and found that they do an incredible job (and a tough job it is) to find good homes for these abandoned pets. They’re saving lives! And, they have to make sure that an adopter is worthy of the responsibility. Are all adoptions going to go smoothly? Of course not. All businesses are going to have situations that present problems. But, the big picture is that this organization is providing a valuable service and doing a pretty darn good job of it. And, for every life they save, we should all be very thankful!

My husband and I were interested in adopting a dog last summer. We went into TLC and they answered all of our questions and directed us to a dog that has just been an angel in our lives. He is sweet, loving, and playful. This past January we went back to find Elvis a little brother or sister. We found a dog that looked similar to him and thought it was meant to be. Again, TLC was great about answering any concerns that we had. They allowed us to foster him temporarily to see how he would adjust. Once we had him in our home, we couldn’t give him up.

TLC is really an incredible place. My brother adopted a dog from here and when his girlfriend wanted to adopt a dog, I started to look at TLC’s website to find her one… Long and behold, instead of finding a dog for her, I fell in love with one! A little daschund mix puppy named Timmie (now spelled Timmy). I told my mom «Mom he’s going to be mine» and soon enough! After applying and waiting anxiously for a response, I was approved and took him home later that day. And if you’re wondering, yes, my brother’s girlfriend adopted from them too!
TLC loves and cares for all the dogs that enter their lives and even after being adopted, they remember each dog that has lived in the rescue at some point. Each volunteer is passionate and kind and a pleasure to speak to. They don’t just care for these pups, they become part of each others lives. How do I know? By how mine and my brother’s girlfriend’s pup still run to the volunteers that visit the dog park… As if they just left the rescue yesterday.
I recommend TLC to people on the daily. They definitely deserve it.

This is an amazing organization and I’m so happy I adopted my Sylvester from them. He had extreme mange and would have been euthanized at the shelter if he hadn’t been saved by TLC and brought back to full health. Thank you TLC for saving Sylvester so we could add him to our family!

It’s unfortunate I have to even give them one star. They are deplorable human beings. Put a deposit down on a puppy on ⁸⁄₁₇. Emailed repeatedly to get status updates. Kept getting told ‘dogs too small to fix, you can’t have her yet’. I reached out politely via email over and over again to no avail. Finally when Sara got back to me she said she had ‘spoken to the director and the puppy should be good to go 9/​30′ guess what? On ⁹⁄₂₁ they put her back up for adoption on facebook and when i called to find out what was going on, i spoke to a ‘person’ who told the director that we called and ‘screamed at her’ which resulted in a very aggressive angry screaming woman calling me about how she’s «up every 2 – 3 damn hours making sure these puppies live» she spewed profanities at us while we continually tried to explain all we wanted was the PUPPY WE PAID FOR but she was waaay too wound up and SCREAMING to even listen to reason. We told her we were recording the conversation and she then proceeded to scream again and hang up. Way to go TLC, super awesome customer service. I asked paypal for a refund on my $ 200 deposit and i got it. Along w a note saying i was no longer ‘viable to adopt at TLC’
well you know what TLC, I hope you close down because with the way you handle customer relations I can only imagine what sad poor shape your dogs are in. You people need to learn some manners, class and respect. Your customers are the people keeping you open. I’ll make sure to tell everyone I know about my negative experience and encourage them to get their dogs from ANYWHERE ELSE. You should be ASHAMED of your behavior and the way you speak to people on the phone. One might speculate that you’re so negative and rude you shouldn’t even be around dogs…

Well now. Where do I begin? August 17^th, we adopted a beautiful little dog so we thought. The problem was that the dog was not her ideal weight to be fixed. We understood. For months, as a concerned pet owner, emailed to check on this dog, find out when she might be ready, etc. We had put a $ 200 dollar deposit down on her. 2 Months just about go by and still no dog. Today, we see her photo up for adoption on the Facebook page.
Perhaps this was in error. I personally and politely called TLC to find out what’s going on. We were told as of the end of last week the dog still hadn’t reached its weight. However, I’m still wondering why she shows «available» for adoption. Then the person on the phone tells me the person we were dealing with is no longer there. How should that affect our situation?
I explain to the person on the phone that the Director needs to give us a ring or a refund. I do not scream. I do not raise my voice. I’m an adult, a consumer, and a rational individual. We get a phone call from the Director who I believe is named Linda who proceeds to inappropriately speak to me, tells me I called TLC and yelled at them. That never happened and the funny part is that this woman proceeded to SCREAM at me and tell me repeatedly how rude I am when all I wanted to know was why the dog was available for adoption. She proceeds to describe the illness of the dog, her weight, etc. Ok Ok. I get it, and the post was an accident. I kept saying– yes I understand this and yes, sorry you have to deal with the health of these animals. What I didn’t appreciate was her DISGUSTING, HIDEOUS, OUTRAGEOUS tone with me. I said as a consumer I have a right to communicate my experience with this business who seems to like to take money and not deliver. I also told her I would call the Better Business B for the way she spoke to me and owed me an apology. I work with plenty of non profits/.orgs and never have I dealt with such hostility.
Secondly, I let her know after I had been berated for 10 minutes I was going to be recording the conversation– to which point she said «Goodnight then and goodbye» and hung up.
Politely I called back and spoke to a woman who works there and told her I would go ahead and need a refund– fair and a written or verbal apology. We did receive the refund and in the notes, said we were denied adoption hereon with TLC. I also asked her to tell her Director I never called and screamed at her which SHE admitted that I didn’t do on the phone with me– that’s right Crystal– you admitted that I never yelled at you– it was a misunderstanding between her and Linda apparently.
I have a right as an adopter and someone who put hard earned money down to love an animal to have a polite and intelligent conversation with the person «fostering» the animal. I don’t know what kind of shady things they have going on here, but I suppose that after this experience, it’s certainly worth having an authority or someone else look into. If she speaks to a person having a relatively mellow conversation trying to find out what’s going on– I can’t imagine how she treats these animals.
This was a totally inappropriate situation. I seriously can not believe how I was treated. Never would I speak to someone the way I was spoken to. If you work in a customer service industry and YOU DO even and especially if it’s non profit– learn how to be patient. The customer no matter what is always right. Listen to them, and be compassionate. That’s the nature of business.
I’d still be very pleased with an apology that I do feel that my sister and I are entitled to. We are wonderful dog owners. We do not yell at people and telling me that a person that worked there «left things in disarray» I’m pretty certain is not a great thing to do. I can understand why she left if she did or was let go. I got two different stories and could care less of that. I only cared about the hideous lack of proper communication and the abusive communication I received overall.
I care about how people talk to one another. I care about animals. Sadly this business needs to learn some serious lessons in non profit management. Also according to other reviews, perhaps needs a health inspection– BBB and Health Department should probably be made aware. These people should not have the ability to foster ANY animal.

My boyfriend and I had been talking about adopting a puppy. To be honest, we always said we would never get a small dog. Well, never say never. After we moved into our apt we knew a big dog wasn’t an option so we decided on something smaller. I knew a friend of mine worked here and so we decided to check out the website. We instantly found a puppy and fell in love. Two days later we went in to «just look» but it was love at first sight and we ended up bringing home our little guy. The girl who helped us was really sweet and gave us all the info we needed to know. He was already neutered, microchipped and had all of his shots. They made everything so easy on us. You also get a free exam at the vet and a bunch of coupons to Petco, which helped a lot, especially if you’re a nut like me and want to spoil your pup. If you’re thinking of adopting, this is definitely the place to go. Our little Tigg is so happy and healthy and we couldn’t be happier with our new addition.

I found this place through petfinder and had been searching for the perfect puppy for awhile. I searched the dog profiles listed on their website and luckily found our match. We easily did the online application and about 2 days later we got a reply stating we were approved.
My husband and I decided to go drive the 34 miles just to check her out, my husband said «We are just going to go see her, it does’t mean we are going to take her home today». We found the shop really quickly and I had warned my husband before hand that, there was a few reviews on Unilocal that mentioned this place has a very strong pee/​poop smell so I said get ready to embrace it, but actually it was not even bad at all! We were looking at all the cute dogs and was really sad that all of theses dogs reminded us of our Chihuahua at home. We wish we could take all of them. At first I was a bit overwhelmed with all the barking, but those cute little Chihuahuas were just asking for attention, lol.
We finally found the puppy we wanted and asked them if we could see her. We fell in love with her instantly, my husband held her and decided that we are taking her home today, lol!
The adoption process was really easy and super fast and I forgot her name but the staff member that helped us was super friendly. I was surprised they offered all these extras but unfortunately since we don’t live in the area we don’t have a chance to use the free puppy exam and check out the obedience classes but overall we had a great experience at this rescue and I believe they are doing great job saving the lives of these precious little dogs. I highly recommend this place! We adopted Feather (now Riley) on 07/​02/​2014, took her to the Vet and she is a healthy puppy!

I went in the other day to look at a puppy and was pleased with how I was treated. This place seems like a good place to adopt from, but today wasn’t a good experience. I went in and no one greeted my friend and I. My friend was looking at some of the pups in the play pen they have and got bit by one of the dogs. A few minutes later that dog continued to try to bite my friends ankle with us just walking by. They didn’t do anything until we kept pointing it out. We were later told that the dog does that often… Why leave a dog like that out in the open? I was pretty upset to see that.

I read a plea that TLC had put out for a long term foster for an elderly, medical dog. Well I went in to meet the dog, and the staff there were so nice and knowledgeable. They answered all of my questions and concerns. I saw that there were many volunteers tending to all of the dogs needs in their rescue shop. It gave me great pleasure to be able to take this little guy home to foster. Needless to say, after a week I had fallen in love with him, and decided to adopt him. Again, the staff were so extremely nice and professional, and again answered all of my questions that I had, which were many.
Since adopting him, I have reached out many times to ask them a question, or with a concern I have had. Even though I had adopted him, they never turned their back on him. They have me bring him in so they can look at him or give me items that may be able to help keep him more comfortable, or something he may like to eat better. They don’t just adopt out a pet and consider themselves done! They are your support team, and they have always been there for me. I have had my boy for about a month and a half now, and he is still doing well. I love him each and every day, and am so thankful that TLC had the faith in me to love him with my whole heart, until it is time for him to leave.
I am so sad to read the review that sad they were not treated well, I can not understand this. I have never heard anyone there speak rudely to a customer, ever, and I have been there many times! I do however find it interesting that they stated they had never spoken to them before prior to this visit, yet they knew it was a Mother/​Daughter team working at the store? I do know (now that I have adopted from them) that there is a Mother/​Daughter team who work there, but I have never seen them at the store at the same time. That is just my observations.
If you are looking for a dog, who has been completely (I mean completely, medically, socially) loved and cared for, prior to being adopted out, then TLC is the place for you!

Walking in the door it smells terrible which let’s you know already they are doing something wrong, on top of that they have dogs crammed everywhere. Stacks of crates with dogs in them along the back wall, play pins with too many dogs. Dogs were barking like crazy when I went in and if they weren’t the others looked frightened. I feel like they need to get a much bigger space to keep these dogs. It’s close to a hoarding situation. Very sad.

I absolutely love TLC. I first looked at their website and they had posted photos and info about all their rescue dogs available.
I honestly thought all their dogs looked adorable so I went in and saw them all in person. The staff were really friendly and knowledgable. I described the sort of temperament of dog that I was looking to adopt and they knew so much about each dog, it was evident that the staff bonded with the dogs and really got to know them. I fell in love with one dog in particular and we were able to meet and play in the play area. The dog was spayed, microchipped and up to date on shots. I filled out an application, paid the fee and I was able to take her home with me right away. It has been 6 weeks and my dog is doing great, she is adorable and super friendly with all dogs and kids. I highly recommend adopting from TLC, they are a wonderful organization and have such adorable dogs and puppies for adoption.

This is an amazing rescue organization and such a brilliant setup! There used to be a pet shop in this location with puppy mill puppies, so we hadn’t gone back in for a while. When we did we were pleasantly surprised to find a rescue organization in their place.
They have a lot of dogs to choose from, but the dogs are clearly well cared for and they even have dogs whom they are treating medically behind windows.
Most of the dogs are small dogs, but they’ve had a couple of Pittys too. They said that most of the dogs come from local shelters off the kill list and even the puppies are rescues!
When we decided to adopt we were so happy to find that our dog was already spayed, microchipped, had all her shots, and they even gave us her license! On top of that, we got a free vet visit and liked the vet so much we started taking our other dogs there too!
The staff is super friendly and all Volunteers and they were constantly cleaning the whole time we were there. Mostly poop patrol. I imagine it’s a thankless job!
If you’re looking for a new furbaby, I’d very much recommend TLC.

I would give Tiny Loving Canines 1 million stars if I could. I adopted 2 dogs from them,
who I love with all my heart. If it wasn’t for Tiny Loving Canines saving PandaBear and Eve from near death out on the street, then in a shelter, I would not have my 2 loves. They are the MOST compassionate, caring, devoted, people I have ever met, you should see how well each and every dog is taken care of and loved by the wonderful volunteers.
