Keith Heating and Air Conditioning was founded in February of 1995 by lifelong Southern California resident, Keith Porhola. Keith’s work ethic and honesty are grounded in his Finnish ancestry. His father inspired him (at a young age) to find a trade that he loved and to develop his skills to the fullest. In high school he started his first air conditioning service company, Be-​Cool Evaporative Cooler Service. During his summer school vacations, he serviced and repaired evaporative coolers (called swamp coolers in the trade) for air conditioning systems. After high school Keith entered college and followed with continuing education and night classes to further hone his skills in complex refrigeration systems, air flow and ducting. After 10 years practicing the trade, Keith attended the distinguished Carrier Technical School and graduated with Carrier’s Tech 1 and Tech 2 certifications. Just a terrific company to do business with. Our heater was out and Kieth was prompt, professional and gave us an accurate estimate.
Not only did he fix our heater, but gave us the proper filter size for out heater, and looked over the whole heater just to make sure there were no other problems or issues that needed to be addressed.
Keith Heating and Air is going right in our phone contacts. Will definitely call again.

I still like Keith, he’s a super nice guy, knows his stuff and in his defense, I had endless problems with my AC. I needed a total new unit and furnace and ducting but needed financing options for that size job. In the interim I needed my existing AC to work. I’m pretty sure he just gave up on me. As I stopped hearing from him a few months after my original review.

Such a great and professional service. Was very consistent quick and gave a great reasonable price i had them come check my air conditioning in the summer and Keith revamped it to make sure it was efficiently giving out cool air 24⁄7! I just called them to return to get my heater working like new. Great temperature control now from thermostat great service

Just called, as I was explaining my mothers home situation. I was .25 into the story which included «the hot water is working» when the lady cut me off and said I need to call a plumber. Didn’t let me finish explaining the issue which is that the heat from A/​C isn’t turning on but the hot water is working. Brilliant way to lose a customer (granted, that they never had).

We just bought our house and our heater goes out a week and a half into moving in. Someone came in sent by our home warranty. He said he rewired something and supposedly worked but when nighttime came, heater still would not work. After several calls we placed that were unanswered, we contacted Keith and he was able come in same day! He explained what was causing the issue and showed us how to look at it. He fixed the problem and now the heater works!!! I’m sold. He’s going in the books for any hvac and heating issues from now on!!!

Keith came out within one day of being called and gave us an honest evaluation of our older HVAC system. We knew it was a big investment and wanted it done right, and he was open to several different options of how to get it done.
Once we committed to going with Keith, the work day was scheduled and the crew arrived on time ready to get things done. I described them like a well-​practiced pit crew. In short order, they had a parts list completed and a Dave was off to get parts and complete some fabrication of custom pieces. I was thrilled at how quickly and thoroughly the work progressed throughout the day. By evening, the entire job was done. Full HVAC replacement, old units carted away, all new grills, and all new ducting, including increasing a 12″ to a 16″ and a 5″ to an 8″ at the base. Solid, clean and precise cutting and drywall work. Custom installation of the AC unit involved running electrical, copper, and creating new access points from the exterior. All done well and with precision.
Each component was checked to be in good working order before they left. Very professional crew — competent, efficient, and respectful of our home. Highly recommended to anyone who needs the job done right. It’s a great feeling to know we’ll have reliable, quality heating and AC for many years to come.

Keith Air Conditioning is the only phone number you need to know. He installed a fabulous mini-​split system for our wine cellar that holds the temperature at 60 degrees and cut our electric bill by almost $ 100 a month. He also tuned up our 30 year old central ac system. Keith is prompt, honest, and fairly priced. We won’t be calling anybody else for our HVAC needs.

Keith came to my home promptly after my AC stopped working. With a newborn baby in the house and a broken AC in 100 degree weather, I was prepared for bad news and concerned about a big bill under the circumstances. Keith managed to fix the AC very quickly at a very reasonable cost. He educated me about some maintenance I should be doing, informed me about some potential issues that were on the horizon and might be fairly expensive and offered solutions and options instead of pushing me to do the costly repairs right away. Yes, there’s a reason Keith gets top marks on Unilocal.On Thurs our AC suddenly went dead. After trying to troubleshoot the problem ourselves, called Keith Friday morning and received a call back within 5 minutes. Here’s why he’s different — instead of the usual ‘I have to look at it’ most folks give you, Keith actually had me try and check a bunch of things before he came out. While we couldn’t troubleshoot what was wrong, not many folks would spend their time on the phone like that to help knowing that if they fixed the problem, they’d not make a penny.
Unfortunately we couldn’t resolve the problem over the phone. Despite it being record heat, and busy beyond belief Keith made it here at noon and got us up and running again in crazy fast time.
Will be pinging him again once the hot season is over to have him install a silencer to reduce the sound of our blower. Keith is now a permanent addition to my phone book :)

It was a hot, muggy day… our dog was not happy and our air conditioner started leaking. Turning it off was scary but it was leaking into the house. I went on Unilocal and found Keith Heating & Air and called, left a message that it was sort of an emergency because my husband had to leave for a doctor’s appointment. They promised he would call back within half an hour. He called back within 5 minutes!
Keith came out to our home an hour after we called and we were new clients. We have had our air conditioning system for 43 years so we were fully prepared to suffer the horror of an expensive replacement. My husband tried everything he knew to clean out the pipe that appeared to leak but it just would not stop leaking.
This cheerful, funny man checked everything and solved our problem by unclogging the pipe and assuring me we did not need to spend thousands to replace the air conditioner. There may be other honest air conditioner people out there, but I am so happy I read the Unilocal reviews and selected Keith.
He gave me some general advice on filter changing and overall care, checked refrigerant levels and even loved our big dog! The man is a gem. I will invite him and his family for Thanksgiving to make sure he knows how valuable he is!
When the time comes, and it probably will eventually, there is no one but Keith that I would trust to replace all or parts of this air conditioner and I know his honesty would never allow him to overcharge. When your dog also likes the man who comes to fix your air conditioner, he has to be a good guy and Keith is great.

I’ve been living in my home for almost 2 years and during renovations I took out an old bulky swamp cooler and multiple wall heaters. Since then, I’ve been living without an AC and heater. I finally decided to bite the bullet and get a HVAC system. I called around for several bids and I got the best bid with Keith (owner). Plus, he’s local, which is great in case I ever have issues with my system. I was so fortunate that he was able to squeeze me in his schedule.
Keith came in with his crew of 4 guys and they installed the system in 2 days. I never knew how much work goes into installing the system, but it’s A LOT of work. The guys were courteous, cleaned up after themselves and also meticulous with their work. I couldn’t be more happier with my new system. It’s actually going to be a pleasant summer.
Keith was friendly, personable, and ethical, which is hard to come by with contractors. Keith came by frequently to monitor the job. He took the time to go over the maintenance of my AC condenser. He’s going to be my go to guy for all HVAC needs.

So our air conditioning broke down on a Friday. We called another local company to come out and the gentlemen that came out was very nice and didn’t charge us for the diagnosis. However, the quote he provided was higher than we were comfortable paying. My hubby & I decided to look on Unilocal for some other options. We found Keith and called him up on Sunday. He came out same day, gave a lower quote and called the very next morning to schedule a day for the work. He came with his guys on that following Tuesday and BAM were back up and running. Our air is working wonderfully! Ahhhh how I love the cold air coming through those vents :) Keith is also a very nice guy, was telling me about his family. Overall I am SO glad we found him and didn’t settle for the first quote we received.
Go with Keith! He knows his stuff, he’s affordable, he gets the job done quickly and accurately. Plus, he’s a nice guy to chat with.

Keith is our go-​to person to work on our HVAC system. The first time was when our 15 year old AC went out (bad compressor) in the middle of a 100 °F streak a couple years ago. Keith came out on a Saturday to do asses the damage and do a quick interim fix to keep it working until the right compressor arrived. He did not charge for that visit or the parts used! He then returned the next week with the proper replacement compressor and our AC has been working every since.
When the heating part of our HVAC died (ignitor broke), we called Keith and he showed up on the same day. Unfortunately, there was no fixing it and thus he had to come back first thing in the morning with the replacement part. Again, he only charged us for the second visit when he had the proper part to fix the system.
As many others have stated, Keith always took the time to explain exactly what he was going. I am an engineer and appreciate someone explaining to me not only what they are doing, but also why. Gives me a lot more confidence that they are not just checking off boxes, but actually understand what it is they are doing. His prices are very reasonable and he shows up when he says he will. That by itself sets him apart from a lot of the competition. As long as he is around, nobody else will touch our HVAC!
