I have been teaching piano professionally since 1991, and I plan to continue for the rest of my life.

Meet the Business Owner

David S.

Business Owner

Born in 1952, I showed interest in playing the piano at age 3. I would sit in my father’s lap while he played jazz standards. Listening to high quality music was a regular pastime in my family. Egged on by my mother, I began taking lessons at age 10. By age 12 I was already more advanced than my teacher, so we began a search for a new one. Luckily, after 3 auditions, we found the perfect match for me. She was a former concert pianist who studied with the legendary Joseph Levine. I was groomed for a career as a performer of classical repertoire. I had 4 hours of instruction a week, and my life revolved around practicing and schoolwork. I also enjoyed tutoring my friends in mathematics. Teaching and being helpful in general were a trademark of my evolving personality. By the time I was 18, my teacher offered me the opportunity to start teaching students that she would refer to me. Instead I chose to study psychology at UCLA.
