C G S Custom Glass Specialists

This company installed a beautiful shower door unit for my home in 2004 and all was well. Until — as I was closing a door last week — it spontaneously exploded, showering glass all over me. It had not touched the wall, it had not been slammed, in fact my hand was still on it when it exploded. I checked it out and ABC News had run a story in 2013 on defective glass doors that do this. When I contact CGS to replace it, the receptionist was surly and rude, sniffing that there’s no one who would replace an 11 year old door. In fact, Home Depot knew about the defect and totally was willing to reimburse me for the replacement even though CGS wasn’t their contractor any more. So I went to Schwartz Glass in Venice, CA for the replacement. They were super nice and sent someone out there to measure the same day. I’m getting the replacement tomorrow. CGS should read up on the defect and take responsibility for it. And by the way, it never hurts to be nice to your customers.
