A New Technique

This is my new hair spot! Let me tell you what a wreck my hair was before 2pm today, and how Teri is a magical being! I went in with extensions that had grew out way too long and was planning on getting a cut & color with them in, Teri insisted that she take them out, what a life saver! She took her time and gave me a beautiful end product, I couldn’t be happier. Nothing like walking out of a salon and feeling beautiful! Thank you so much!!!

Been going here for years. They are very accommodating. Only place my girls have ever had their hair done. I highly recommend.

Charisa is absolutely WONDERFUL!!! She always makes me feel welcome and special and gives me undivided attention. I always leave feeling like a million bucks. Her skill with the scissors and color is excellent. I have also taken my 9 year daughter. Charisa gives full treatment and attention to her which I appreciate and makes my daughter feel special. I would give more stars if I could:)

Heidi is the best! She is extremely knowledgeable and goes the extra mile to make every appointment personal and comfortable. All of the stylists and all of the people there are great people! Salon is cozy, clean and relaxing with a certain flair of fun! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Love this salon. Nice staff, clean shop and numerous Redken products to chose from. Charlie is amazing. She is a true artist who can create amazing hair styles just by looking at a photo and talking through your options. Awesome place!

I have been going to a New Technique for years. I always get a great hair cut and the color is always perfect. John, Christa, and Charlie are all great.

I went in with a bad dye job done by a friend. It was so bad I wasn’t sure it was fixable. I thought I was going to have to chop most of my hair off. John not only fixed it so that you couldn’t tell what had been there, but I left with my hair looking better than it had in years. I can’t imagine letting anyone else touch my hair after that. They are amazing there.

So, last year my long term hair dresser retired, which anyone with wierd hair will appreciate how stressful it is to find a new salon/​hairdresser. It had been 5 months since my hair had been touched and it was a nightmare. I had seen the salon when waiting for my daughter at her school next door, saw that they touted themselves as «color experts», I decided to check them out.
Of course I Unilocaled prior to making my appointment. I only saw one bad review out of many good reviews, and on closer examination of said bad review, I decided to not take it seriously (based on the poorly written quality of the review) and went ahead and made an appointment for myself with John and for my 31 year old daughter with Wes.
I’ll be honest, when we walked in on Saturday morning, all the patrons were much older than me and I’m in my mid-50’s…we were a little worried that maybe they were used to doing «older» hairstyles & such, but kept our appointments.
John was so wonderful to me, taking into consideration the wierd shape of my face, the prior color that had been used on my hair, the dry condition of my hair, my personal coloring and how I wanted to deal with my hair in terms of time and energy each day! The color turned out the BEST I’ve ever had (sorry prior hairdresser), it looks totally natural. The cut was just what I wanted and he styled it really nicely.
Now back to our first reactions when we got to the shop… Wes is a slightly «older» gentleman (he’s also the shop owner) and my daughter was a little worried about that, but he treated her like a queen and did an AMAZING job adding some lighter blonde highlights and a dark color to the underside of her hair. She had recently had her first child and having new hair really helped her feel like her old self again!!!
Everyone in the salon treated us like we were special and had been going there for years.
I will say, that by this first experience, we WILL be going there for years!!!

Have literally been coming here my whole life and I honestly don’t think I could go anywhere else. Wes, John, Joanne, and Charlie are all amazing!!!

After giving birth I was feeling a little low, the hospital had given me a flyer for A New Technique. Joanne did a wonderful job giving life to my post pregnancy hair & worked magic with my hair color. she taught me how to apply my make up & what colors were right for my skin tone. I will never forget how incredible I felt walking out of that salon that day! Absolutely LOVE Joanne & A New Technique!

I love coming here for all my hair needs. John is an EXCELLENT hair stylist. Courtney and Sharessa are also great stylists, both have done my hair as well. This place is clean, organized and very affordable compared to other salons I have been too. Try one of these stylists you will not be disappointed, they are all very well trained and experienced. John would be my first pick!

Honestly the best hair salon in Simi. I have gone to four different artists here and after today I can say that all of them are beyond phenomenal! The squeezed me in last minute as usual (my schedule is crazy) and John gave me an amazing color and cut! I also go to Heidi, Joann, and Courtney whom are also amazing stylists! I recommend everyone I know to come here. Not only do you get a great final product, but no matter who you see, they make you feel at home! Thank you, John, for a wonderful day at the salon!!!

When my dad was diagnosed with cancer last year, he knew he was going to lose his hair which was down to the middle of his back. He decided he wanted to donate it as opposed to just letting it fall out. We booked an appointment and the whole family went with him. The staff was very supportive, as this was an extremely emotional thing for my whole family, and the gentleman who cut his hair convinced us not to go from all to nothing so drastically. We cut off ponytails but left some hair to make the transition easier. We were extremely pleased with the outcome and with how kind everyone was, as my mother and sister and I were sobbing while they cut his hair.

Yes, I booked a hi-​light, not color and NO trim! After reviewing my hair, I/​we decided no… I was happy with my hair color… but okay with Clear Coat! When he took out the scissors, I said NO, that’s okay. He said, just a trim. 4″ is NOT a trim, neither is layers. Wrong wrong wrong I asked him what he was doing when pulling my hair forward to cut it sideways. I did not ask for a dye — my roots are growing out — too bad I can’t post a picture! And as you’ll recall… the last hair cut I had from Wes, had to be re-​done by John. That’s why I thought he was nice… he lied to me. That’s why I’m upset. I’m sure your other stylists are awesome… I’m only complaining about John. And him calling the client after me, a *****, was VERY unprofessional… wonder what type of review she would write! Perhaps it’s not the Redken Educators you require at this point… but honesty and a simple sorry. I never got that. I sent you pictures… and your no response tells me you agree. Sad you stand behind liers… now I’m really mad, again. Glowing alright… be prepared for your hair to totally change — glow like copper! lol Sad sad sad and like I said, he could have fixed it. $ 125.00 I got refunded. I will post how much it costs to have it fixed… and what the Redken Educators have to say about «Clear Coat»!!! Fellow Breast Cancer Survivors ** Hair returns us to who we were. Don’t let them ruin it for you :)

I love this salon! I have kind of a crazy schedule and can only go get my hair done on a last minute basis (which is great that their schedule is so flexible) so I’ve been to three of the stylists there and can not say a bad thing about any of them! Seriously! I’ve only left with awesome hair after each appointment.
I’ve been going there since 2007 and I LOVE my hair! I basically just sit in the chair and let them have their way :)

someone I know has been seeing Teri for ages, and has been asking me (for quite some time) to go see her. I finally went today, and I am very glad I did. The last salon did an ok job, but it wasn’t ‘my cup of tea’. more for a younger hipper crowd than someone like me. This was more traditional, which is what I want. They apparently won ‘readers choice award’ for best salon by the ventura county star newspaper a few years in a row. I am very pleased with the way my hair coloring and cut came out. I will be back again, and will be using their services prior to my wedding in October for the girls and myself.
