A Guiding Light Cremations is a family owned and operated funeral establishment located in Simi Valley, California. Our promise to you is affordable cremations attending to the care and dignity of your family. We provide Direct cremation services throughout Ventura and Los Angeles counties.

Our owner and Funeral Director, Pedro Fernandez is a former Los Angeles Police Department Detective, current federal agent and Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Our Funeral Arrangement Counselor team includes Lea Fernandez, who is a retired Los Angeles Police Officer and Linda Lopez, a retired nurse.

As a family who has dedicated their lives to serving the community, it is our mission to ensure the dignity of each and every loved one who passes into our care, while protecting their survivors from undue financial hardship.

History

Established in 2013.

As consumers, we were helping a neighbor with funeral expenses when his young wife died. We enlisted a neighborhood cremation service and found the charge was unrealistic. Our neighbors and friends chipped in, but even with that we got stuck with a bill that was over $ 2,000. We decided the people of Simi Valley deserved better and we wanted to open our business to serve those in need without all that financial distress.

Manager

I worked as an RN in ICU for 35 years. I was retired for one year when this need came up. My son-​in-​law Pedro and my daughter financed the opening of A Guiding Light. I have 3 children and 7 beautiful Grandchildren.

I truly enjoy what I am doing now. It’s the obvious step for me to stay in the helping professions. My greatest pleasure is helping the families with their cremation needs and taking the pressure off of them so they are able to spend time with family. It is our mission to do the little extras that a large funeral home did not do for us. Thank you for visiting our business. My photo is that of me and one of my wonderful grandsons.
