Oregon Garden Resort

One of my absolute favorite places to stay for a «girlfriends getaway» the rooms, staff, and spa are so amazing!!! I would recommend the spa to anybody! It was so refreshing and very relaxing.

Stayed one night for a two-​day conference in May 2016. Room was fancy and elegant — everything I would have expected from a «resort.» Conference accomodations were average — one day in a ballroom in the main building, second day down in an «education room» near the entrance to the Oregon Garden itself (second room was a bit weird acoustically and it was cold in there!).
Complementary breakfast was average — food wasn’t that impressive, in my opinion, but it was free, so it had that going for it.
Main reception area was under construction, so there was tons of plastic blocking off the main lobby area and the reception desk was crammed into some «excercise room» with tons of cords taped to the floor running all throughout the main building.
Got a deep pressure massage that left me sore the next day (probably won’t get a deep pressure massage again — but that is a personal preference, NOT a criticism of the therapist — she did her job well).
Overall, this hotel seems nice — there were two weddings going on at the same time on the Saturday our conference ended — so be aware of that if you’re going to be a guest during «wedding season». The combination of the whole building being under construction and not having time/​good weather (it was raining) to actually visit the garden means that I will likely have to come back again to get the full Oregon Garden Resort experience…

I enjoyed these amenities. The drive was pleasant through rural parts of Oregon I haven’t been before. The rooms are on the newer side, the resort having opened in October 2008. My room had a deck with table and two chairs, two queen beds, a writing desk, a sitting desk, a fireplace (which is the heat source), a coffee maker, a small refrigerator, a microwave, a closet, and a full bathroom. The rooms are on one level so there is no above or below noise. Pet friendly rooms are available.
There are a variety of packages available. Our package included a bottle of wine each night (their Cab or Zin), dinner for two (anything on the menu), and breakfast for two. The dinners were satisfying. The breakfasts aren’t special but there was at least one protein item, the first day it was sausage links and the second day it was scrambled eggs. The dinner service varied with the server. One day we had a very professional young man who poured our wine and ground fresh pepper for us. The next day we had a young gal who left us feeling like she didn’t have time for us by plopping our wine bottle at the end of the table and rushing away and doing the same with the pepper mill.
Every night we’re told there’s different live music in the bar. You can take your wine bottle, if you didn’t finish it, into the bar and enjoy the music. You can eat dinner in the bar if you’d like. There’s plenty of various seating (chairs and sofas). It’s a cozy environment with a fireplace.
We both had spa services. We found the services to be on the high side of price but we weren’t really disappointed with the service themselves. The deep pressure massage which I paid extra for wasn’t what I consider deep. The facial seemed very dear in price ($ 150).
If you’re a gardener or an appreciator of gardens, you’ll really enjoy this aspect of the resort. Your room key gets you into the gated 80 acres of gardens. Not a lot was in bloom during our visit so the grounds weren’t bursting with kaleidoscope color, but it was still enjoyable. And I loved spending time with the over 400 year old oak tree. There’s a gift store in the gardens that we made a couple purchases from. You can walk the gardens and/​or take the guided tram tour which runs constantly.
There’s some neat shops in the downtown Silverton area. Our favorite being an AFFORDABLE and interesting gallery called White Oak Gallery (don’t miss it!). Another must-​do is making a trip to Silver Falls State Park which is amazingly beautiful. This park offers waterfall hiking (for safety, absolutely no pets) but also trails that accept boots, bikes, hooves, and paws. The lodge has food/​drink/​restrooms. The gift shop has some fun things and the people who run it are very nice and fun.
Forego the big box businesses and commercial coffee places (like Dutch Bros. Coffee) and give your business to the local enterprises.
The rural gorgeousness, authentic small town feel, and affordable prices left me with one word to describe Silverton which is straight out of Fargo: Reasonable. Silverton is reasonable. It’s so nice to go to a gallery where a person with a regular job can afford to buy nice quality art.

I went to the Oregon Gardens last weekend for a Quilt show. The resort offered a package deal with room, txt to garden, txt to the quilt expo and breakfast.
What a beautiful day. End of January in between storms.
The room was older but comfy. the Fireplace was a fun feature. Floors were laughingly squeeky tho.
Breakfast buffet was awesome.
We ate in the restraunt and they allowed us to order from the lounges menu.
Friendly staff. Beautiful grounds. I would love to come back this spring

The hotel is nice — not super luxurious or anything, but with very clean and private rooms with a nice private terrace and fireplace. The surroundings (Oregon Garden and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Gordon House) are beautiful, and breakfast is included, as is entrance to the gardens (reviewed separately). Staff is super friendly, making this a very good hotel for a romantic or family visit to the neighboring gardens, and not too far from farms and wineries.

We just finished our overnight at the resort and we will definitely be back again! My husband and I did the Spa Romance package and we were really pleased with what we got! The package includes the room, roses, chocolate, a bottle of wine, dinner, breakfast and a couples massage. Talk about great bang for your buck! Our room was clean and comfy. We loved the vaulted ceilings and fireplace. Our food was delicious (especially the fried avocados. So good!) the wine was good and we enjoyed being able to walk around the gardens! Everyone was friendly and helpful. We both enjoyed our massages and the staff was professional. The one thing we wish was a little clearer is that you have to make an appointment for the spa separately from the room reservation but overall, we had a great experience!

Just returned home from another wonderful stay at the Oregon Garden!
We were there this time to celebrate my wife’s birthday and like usual they did not disappoint.
We stayed 2 nights this time in a 2 queen room which was not as roomy as a king room but great room as always.
Their rooms have always been exceptionally clean and well cared for with very comfortable beds and soft linens. My only complaint would have to be that the anti-​slip matts that are stuck to the floors of all the tubs have started to peel off in all the rooms we’ve stayed in. I’d like to see those replaced but that’s my only complaint.
We regularly dine at the main restaurant and have always been pleased. Our server Thursday night was Michael and he was wonderful. Took very good care of our party of 4 and even sang happy birthday to my wife!
The included breakfast is by far one of the best of any continental hotel breakfast out there.
The bar has great happy hour and we have yet to try their drinks. Some of the entertainers in the evenings are very good! Some, well… Haha
We’ve stayed there a number of times and have always left very happy and looking forward to our next trip.

I love the Oregon gardens, the garden is beautiful especially around Christmas time, their food is delicious, I always get the seafood pasta, it’s my favorite. And their chocolate cake! There is also amazing staff there, I’ve met everyone there, William is a very amazing server! He is knowledgable of the food and very kind! Try to make it before Christmas in the gardens ends because right now it’s GORGEOUS! Ice skating, little shops along the path to get cocoa at and other items like lotions and soaps! Not only is it gorgeous, it’s huge! I recommend this resort to anyone in the area or just driving through.

awful customer service. front desk clerks were rude and unhelpful. I stood in front of the counter for five minutes before someone even looked up to say «hi». wouldn’t stay here if my life depended on it. very disorganized and lost all future business from this family.

We booked a package and I quizzed the girl over phone…“is it more cost effective to book package or just book a room and pay to go into Christmas in the Garden”? She said «once you pay for your room, admission to Gardens, admission to ice skating and skate rental. It all adds up so the package is best». We arrived and told skating not included. I explained to front desk what I was told. She said «I 100% believe what you’re saying but need to check with my manager «. The other person at front desk said reservations located somewhere else and he called them while I was standing there to tell them not to say skating included. I was later contacted and told Manager wouldn’t honor what I was told.
It was my Daughter’s birthday and opening weekend for the Gardens so understandable mistakes could happen but not to honor what a guest was told is simply poor Management.
The Gardens themselves were «ok» but not worth the hassle and being charged erroneously for what we were told was included. SHAME ON THE MANAGER. The poor publicity isn’t worth you doing the right thing.

I adored this place. It’s a drive from Portland, but was totally worth it. We were there for Christmas in the Garden. We ice skated and walked around the garden all lit up with 400,000 holiday lights. We also indulged in German food and stayed at the on site hotel.
I have nothing but good things to say. It was an excellent experience. I have a teen, a tween, and an 8 year old and they all had a good time! That’s saying something.

And, so, we came back for the (fabulous) Christmas in the Garden and, once again, spent the night at the Oregon Garden Resort. Again, we were satisfied.
The new breakdown:
– Room was about the same. I think it might have even a bit larger than the one we had in the spring. The deck was more private. The other was a ground level patio space, just off a walking trail. This was an actual above-​ground, private deck, Of course, it was also winter, so we did not spend a heckuva lot of time out there. We did keep the ice pack for our cooler out there overnight, and it stayed frozen.
– Did not have dinner here this time. We did have drinks and snacks in the Fireside Lounge and that was relaxing and enjoyable.
– I think the breakfast food has improved since our last visit. At that time, I described it as «filled a hole.» But, this time, I would say it was quite tasty. Waffles with real maple syrup and eggs scrambled with cheese and herbs.
– My only qualm this time was the fireplace. While I loved having a fireplace in the room, it is the only heat source in the room, and it was actually too hot. We may have been missing something, but, though it is purportedly thermostat-​controlled, it appeared to have only two settings: ON and OFF. And, when it was ON, it was too ON. And, since the temps were dipping into the low 20°s the night we were there, we did not want to go for OFF. So, even though it was around 22°F outside, we ended up opening windows to offset the too-​high temp from the fire. Not an ideal solution, but it got us through the night.
But, as mentioned, we were overall very happy with our stay, And, now that we have found the Oregon Garden, anticipate staying again (and again) in the future.

We stayed at the Oregon Garden Resort 3 weekends ago. Not a very pleasant visit.
1) We arrived during a horrible rain storm and were soaked by the time we were inside our room. The only source of heat in the rooms is the gas fireplace. Of course, our fireplace didn’t work so we had no heat. The front desk sent a repair person up and a 30 minutes after we hit our room, the fireplace was finally running and we were able to start to dry out and warm up.
2) Later that day, the weather had calmed down and we decided to use the hot tub. The hot-​tub/​pool area was in very poor condition. Used towels scattered around, drink cups on tables and on the ground and lounge cushions scattered around. Not very resort like.
3) After the hot tub, we wanted to shower before dinner. One of the 2 towels in our room had a giant hole (about the size of a small plate) right in the middle of it. Seems like poor quality control, especially for a place that bills itself as a resort. (Also, what hotel or resort only supplies 2 towels in a room? I have not encountered this before, even at low budget motels.)
4) We were not sure if we wanted to eat in the restaurant on the resort grounds or go somewhere in town. We found the menu for the on site restaurant inside the information notebook in our room and each found something that we would want so decided on the on site restaurant.
5) When we arrived at the restaurant, we were treated in a very dismissive and condescending manner by the hostess.
Off to a bad start here.
Then the hostess came to pour our water and began to pour water into a glass that was cracked from the rim to the stem. I had to stop her from serving us in this glass.
More bad stuff. We were starting to regret our decision to dine here.
When we looked at the menu, it looked like it did not match the menu that we reviewed earlier in our room. When we asked the hostess if this was the case, she said, «yeah, we noticed that.» That’s all she said.
No explanation.
No offer to see if she could ask if the kitchen could prepare what we wanted.
No apology.
This is when we pulled the pin. It was a little late at this point so we ended up going into town and having fast food.
Taken individually, these problems might not be a big deal. Taken together, they equal a terrible experience.
I take no joy in posting a review like this but I don’t have an alternative.
I called the resort a few days after our stay. I left a message for the manager to return my call.
I hand wrote a letter describing our experience and sent it to the resort to the attention of the general manager, requesting a return letter or phone call. Now over three weeks have passed and I have still not heard back. The call was never returned and the letter was ignored. This is just horrible customer service. We had 2 sets of friends that intended to try a weekend at the resort like we did but both couples decided to go somewhere else based on our experience. It’s really too bad because the location is beautiful, the garden is obviously a huge attraction and our room was nice and had a cool balcony/​deck attached. Everything is in place for this to be great facility but they are just not pulling it off.
I gave them 1 star because aside from the unpleasant hostess, we found the rest of the staff to be courteous and polite. The woman who worked on our fireplace was apologetic and did the best she could. We saved the towel with the hole and showed it to a front desk person when we checked out and she was horrified and apologetic.
We spent our entire Sunday exploring in the Oregon Garden grounds and found it a beautiful and picturesque facility.

Beth and all the staff were just great. Beth went up and beyond the call of duty. The special treatment she gave us for our anniversary made us feel like we are their most important guest. The room was very spacious with our own patio overlooking the gardens. The restaurant was top notch food and again the same sevice standards that Beth has. I will highly recommend this place and if you are as lucky as I was you will have Beth answer the call to book your room.

Excellent place for a getaway. Upon the arrival, we received a warm welcome. The staff are super nice. The room was clean. The room heats up with a fireplace (thermostat controlled). :) I thought that was very cool…
The gardens are absolutely gorgeous. Great for anyone,. Families, couples, …We had access to the gardens at any time with our room key cards. Guided tours of the garden are included :)
The restaurant was great. The steak with baked potato was delicious. Very attentive and accommodating staff.

A hidden gem! I found this place on a last minute search for a room for the night, and was impressed by what a bargain this was.
For a little more than what the motel 6 in Salem was charging, I got a king size bed, a fireplace, a private balcony, a nice breakfast and access to those beautiful gardens any time the sun was out. I even saw a few deer walking around during the evening when it was quiet!
Definitely a place to go back to next time I’m visiting the area.

I honestly can’t say enough! I loved being in the gardens and the room and the breakfast, just EVERYTHING. I honestly couldn’t recommend this resort more. I can not wait to come back. The ancient oaks and weeping pines were among my favorites. The staff was fantastic and kind as well.

We stayed here as part of a leisurely road trip from CA to WA and I’m so glad we did. The drive up is a treat as you wind along the Oregon Gardens and past the FLW house. The resort is a series of bungalows with spectacular views over the valley. The staff is friendly and helpful.
The rooms have vaulted ceilings, a fireplace, an outdoor patio, large bath/​dressing area and comfy beds. Add in dog friendly, free wifi, free admission to the Oregon Gardens all in an amazingly peaceful setting and you have a winner!

I booked the dinner escape package for a romantic night with my boyfriend. I booked online, and requested extra towels and a nice & quiet room. I even had called to make sure it went through the next day.
We went on a long hike, and went to the hotel to check in. The person who checked us in was very spacey. We went to our room, didn’t take too long. It was the FIRST room from the main lodge. Right by the street, and parking. In the room, there were only two tiny towels.
I called the front desk to voice my concerns and ask if we could switch rooms. She had basically told me no, and did no form of apology. I work at a front desk of a hotel, and I would have NEVER spoken to a guest in that manner. It took 45 minutes to get towels.
We decided to go to the restaurant, hoping it would be better. I got the special «Blackened Salmon Cajun Pasta» and my boyfriend got some pork over orzo. The salmon in my meal was definitely canned, and his orzo was microwaved. The waitress never asked us how everything was. For a $ 60 meal, I would expect better quality.
We didn’t get ANY sleep since we were so close to the lodge and the terrible live music went until 11:30. Even with the curtains shut we could hear every car and person walking by. In the morning I asked to speak to a manager, and was told there wasn’t one on property and the GM was on vacation. There was only a supervisor. When checking out, there was a line of people. Every person in front of me had been asked how their stay was. Was I asked? No. They also had a hard time locating my incidental cash, which is a huge red flag.
I would honestly really like to speak to the GM, and get my stay refunded. I’m really disappointed I spent money at this place. You should not treat guests so terribly.

I was here for a conference and stayed at the resort the night before. It was really a nice place. The room was quiet, and though I didn’t use it, it had a private patio outside of the room. Nice big bed too. Wasn’t a fan of the lukewarm shower that I had had in the morning. The breakfast was yummy though, and coffee you could take out to the gardens with you if you wanted too. For the conference there was only one bathroom though. Wish that there had been just one other one. The gardens were lovely indeed though, and a wonderful place to have a conference.
The lounge had live music, and ok enough wine. If you wante to choose from a wine list though, the prices were much pricier, so I stuck to the house wines mainly.
