The Home Depot

I heard some guy swearing and cursing up a storm, trying to put something together. The cashier said its the new supervisor… Absolutely lovely. You can see why things have been going down the drain there lately. I.e., not being able to find items as they are listed on the website. Store being in general chaos. Big shame, this used to be an awesome Home Depot location.

I get that nobody wants to work on Christmas Eve. I get that. But, working costumer service myself, I always expect people to go above and beyond in kindness. I was with my family, while my mother was looking for a replacement hose for her new stove. She asked one man named Paul for some help, and his response was «Well, I am busy, but what do you need?» In a way that made me want to walk out of the store completely. 1. She was a buying customer looking for your advice on a product. 2. She’s being polite about it. 3. She’s my mom, so of course his way of speaking to her pissed me off. So he points her off it a direction, without even standing up from his chair. Amd we walk down a few more isles, and she asks for help again. I am literally just standing back watching the attitude take place of these workers. I don’t know what they had for breakfast, but it wasn’t hearty. Our next «helper» was female, and she was almost at an arguing state, while questioning the diameter of hose she needed. I don’t remember her name, but it started with a K. She was rude up until the point that she no longer needed to help us. And last, but not least, our cashier. Amanda. It doesn’t hurt to smile, and keep conversation. We even asked how your day was going.

My choice for all things home improvement, or yard, or garden, or Halloween décor supplies. Coincidentally, my dog’s favorite store. He gets a lot of attention and cookies nearly every visit. Folks are generally friendly and helpful. If I walk in with something, and tell them that I need «a replacement thing-​a-​ma-​jig» or «doo-​hickey» or «hoobie,» they point me in the right direction, or lead me straight to it. Also, military discount, even for retirees. And preferred veteran parking.

Went there on 6÷2÷15 at about 530pm. Lots of guys standing around while we were trying to get a price check on paint. The paint guy was unhelpful and then when we got back to the register they were all closed (in the middle of a transaction). Nobody offered to help us carry or move these 5 gallons back and forth while THEY FIGURED IT OUT

Everytime I come here I’m a little more impressed. These guys will do anything they can to make sure your needs are met.
Most recently, I went in to get some paint samples, as I’m painting the exterior of my house. The guy working the counter seemed to know everything about their exterior paints. He gave me some helpful tips to make sure my order was completed without delay and even informed me of an upcoming sale. Much appreciated!
Another time, I was buying a BBQ grill, and the associate was on top of it. He made me feel like he had no other purpose in life but to make sure I got all of my grilling needs taken car of. He found the perfect sized grill cover and even suggested some cool accessories. When I got to the checkstand, the grill came up $ 50 more than I had seen it for on their website. I mentioned this to the associate, and she make the adjustment without question.
In another trip I went and spoke to their kitchen designer (Ryan) regarding new appliances and a possible redesign. I had done a bit of research beforehand, so I already had an idea of what I wanted. He wasn’t an order-​taker, though. He showed me other options that would meet my needs and possibly save me money.
The one thing I’m not a fan of is the delivery service. I’m not going to knock the store, because I know it’s not their fault, but it’s something I feel is worth mentioning. If you order your appliances, make you they are in stock, if you need them. The company only ships once ALL items are in stock. I was buying a house and needed all new appliances. I bought everything about 25 days before I needed them and set a delivery date for the day after closing. About a week prior, the manufacturer called to tell me my washing machine was on backorder. Needless to say, nothing showed up on my delivery day. I called the store to ask what was going on, and they confirmed my order would be delayed. Ryan called me back a few minutes later to tell me he had it under control. He understood my predicament and made sure everything that was available shipped next-​day! I can’t thank him enough. I know it wasn’t his fault. Everything was in stock when it was ordered.
Delivery was on-​time, but they did dent my dryer and oven. Didn’t even notice until a week later when I got the plastic off. What can you do? It’s barely noticeable, so I’m sure I’ll live. My main advice to corporate would be to clean up their communication for the delivery process. Getting communication from the manufacturer and not Home Depot or the delivery company is rather confusing. \rant
Oh, did I mention the Silverdale store is awesome? :)

DON’T HIRE HOME DEPOT TO DO REPAIRS ON YOUR HOUSE!!!
I am still waiting for my roof to be done. I hired home depot thinking a multi billion dollar company would surely hire competent construction workers. NOT They hire a 24 year old to do my roof. He finds some damage, tells me I need to hire a Structural engineer, $ 1,000.00 for the report. 3 weeks in waiting for all of this, while my roof is half torn off. When I want to get the contractor to give me an estimate on what the engineer’s report suggests, I can’t reach him. He doesn’t return calls. A week goes by, NOTHING. I found out he went fishing. They started this job July 9^th. Today is Aug 20^th. I am still waiting. Had to hire another contractor to do the job. Asked HOme Depot to NOT give me the kid who started the roofing. I hope to have my roof by the end of Aug.
But that isn’t the end of the story. The same time I hired them to do my roof, I hired them to do my bath. 5,000.00 bath redo. They set up the appt. to do the install. ON that day, between 8 – 10 is when they were scheduled. At 10;30 I call to see where they are, they said «oh, someone should have called you, we can’t do it today, we need to do it next week». Next week comes. An employee calls and asks «How many workers are there?» I said «NONE». He said I am going to forward this to my supervisor who will call you back within the hour.” That was one week ago. Never talked with anyone from the install department supervisor. I am still waiting for my bathroom renovations, which were scheduled on Aug. 5^th They are suppose to come out on the 26^th.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, DON’T HIRE HOME DEPOT FOR ANY RENOVATIONS. Get a local company, small is better in these cases.

IJust finished a large scale renovation and want to give thanks where thanks is due. Several months ago I came into HD and was definitely stressed. With deadlines looming I had to purchase all new windows and doors and didn’t even know were to begin…
The gentleman (wish I remember his name) was so patient with me. He was knowledgeable on all the county codes for windows as well as what would work best for each part of the home. With his help, I was able to purchase just the right things and in a very timely manner! Appreciate the expertise that this man demonstrated!
Kudos to Home Depot Silverdale!

I will no longer shop at all Silverdale Home Depot. The employees are rude and it is hard to find help. I especially do not like the changes in their lumber department. Whenever I go in there I can never find an employee or I find them… the employees standing around in a circle talking and not wanting to help. The girls at the register a really friendly and nice and for that they get the one star. I have had an encounter with one of the female manager and it was not pleasant. I would however give 5 stars2 Grover

I would’ve given additional stars; however, to walk into the nursery area & find 5 employees standing around chit-​chatting in a group… and, not being able to find any help when you actually need help… well, it’s frustrating.
I DO enjoy the selection of plants & flowers… and, it’s always well stocked.
But, on more than one occasion… I have noticed employees just standing around gabbing in groups (inside the store as well).
My suggestion… roam the aisles & see if people need help… there’s ALWAYS someone that could use suggestions or help!

It’s the Home Depot. Not much may be said of this national chain that has not already been said but I am compelled to single out one employee at this particular store: Deanna. She was very helpful and showed great initiative. She shared useful tips with my buddy for his aquarium’s DIY overflow system and pointed us in the right direction for the parts required. We were impressed. Great job providing a memorable shopping experience, Deanna!

Absolutely horrible customer service. A customer should never feel as if they are inconveniencing an employee when asking them a question. In this economy, I find it strange and disturbing that a big box store would hire managers that allow employees to be willfully rude and condescending. Every time I go there, I ask myself why? And then I remember that I have no other choice, considering the choices in the area. Lowe’s carries different stock on certain items, making an occasional trip to Home Depot necessary.

This is a great store, I can find the items I need quickly and customer service top notch.

Recently purchased our first home and we’ve done tons of home improvements. EVERY time we come here for help its amazing.
We needed a bracket for our stackable washer/dryer.and they somehow found one in the back. nobody else had any in town. We seriously almost drove to Everett to get one from Best Buy there.
Also, recently our shower was having problems and my husband went to Lowe’s first, looking for some filter… they didn’t have any. He went to Home Depot, they didn’t have any either, BUT the guy totally gave my husband the one from the display!
We’ve bought so much stuff here, when we can we drive to Home Depot over Lowe’s, just because we like the service so much!

Nothing special to say, associates could use more training though it seems.
