Business Owner

Dr. James (Pat) Drew D.D.S. was born and raised in South Kitsap, Washington. He attended South Kitsap High School, graduating as the Student Body President in 1979. After High School, Pat attended Seattle University where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Physics with magna cum laude honors. Pat pursued his graduate studies at the University of Washington, earning a Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS) concurrently with a Ph. D in Neurophysiology.

Pat truly has a loving heart and a devout dedication to service. Beyond his 20 + years of private practice, he has recently set up a limited urgent dental chair at the Neighborhood Clinic in Tacoma, WA. The Neighborhood Clinic is free medical clinic for the uninsured. The Neighborhood Clinic has given Pat the opportunity to give back to his community and especially those that have lacked access to healthcare.

I am never going to see Dr Drew ever again as of today. I have been his customer for approximately five or six years. I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars in his office. Always, I pay up front as they demand. Today, Jenny the office person from dr. Drew called to remind me of my appointment tomorrow and I apologize because I forgot the appointment and I apologize because I did not have the money to pay. I had $ 100 credit on my account and they kept it because I could not afford to come tomorrow and because I did not give them a 48 hour notice instead of a 24 hour notice. I tried to make future payment arrangements for future dental work and they refused. There are three people in my family and we are living off of under $ 1,000 a month and they kept my hundred dollar credit I had on their account I am storming!

I have dental insurance and this Dentist was friendly but the dentist office was charging me at front the FULL total amount of the work to be done prior the work then my insurance was sending a payment to the dental office for the percentage that they insurance was suppose to cover then the dentist was charging me again for the part that the insurance didn’t pay so basically this dentist office was getting double pay every time i had work done. I found out when i called my own insurance company and a representative explain to me the error then i confirm the problem with my paperwork and the statements and receipts that i was given after paying. When i confronted the dentist office with my concerns they always told me that the person in charge of the billing needed time to review my paperwork and months went by and i kept calling and passing by and they always gave me the same excuses that the person in charge of billing was off and will be back another day, or that they were reviewing my paperwork and never called me back when finally went to office and confront them they called me and say that they will gladly waved what i owe them «even tho i had always paid in full prior the visit plus they were getting double pay from me and the insurance company» but they wont welcome me back and they wont release my X rays or the history of work done to anybody unless i paid the remaining balance owe to them. FROM WHERE? never showed me explanation of the why i still owe anything! they just gave me a bill. MY WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

Can’t say anything bad. I had the opposite experience from the other comment. I actually had a previous dentist tell me I had 12 cavities. Then DR. Drew told me I only had 2. Not sure what exactly is happening in the dental community with all these different appraisals. Certainly could be foul play on someone’s part, or shortcomings in diagnosing procedures, or even just different ideas of when a small defect in the tooth enamel reaches the level of a cavity. Overall my experience was good, quick, and courteous. I would go back.

This dentist is horrible! My family and I have gotten ripped off many times. He pushes dental work that is unnecessary. He has insisted on dental procedure for my mother that she didn’t need, and it turn, has destroyed her tooth causing her to endure pain for years. He told me one time that I have 4 cavities and I should get work on them. Good thing I got a second opinion because I didn’t have any cavities, and to this day, I am cavity free. He also doesn’t take a shower after he goes on his afternoon jogs. This dentist has caused more trouble than anything! I guess you can’t assume that everyone who goes to dental school doesn’t mean they are great denists. somebody has to be last in their class.
