We had been struggling with an inoperative driveway drain for years. Water was backing up and threatening to go into our home when we had severe rains. Several vendors had been by the house to video the drains and they discovered that the 20 year old network had collapsed. However, standard ‘roto-​rooter’ techniques did not appear viable.
Silas and his crew came and confirmed the diagnosis and offered a solution by completely replacing the old line with a new rigid PVC line. Unfortunately they would need to saw-​cut through our concrete garage floor, direct the line around the opposite side of the house, and hand-​dig a new trench to provide the proper grade –making sure, in the meantime, that they didn’t damage existing sprinkler piping and landscape lighting wires. It would be expensive: He estimated all of the work would take one week. We gulped hard but agreed to have Silas proceed.
HERE IS THE IMPORTANT POINT. What he estimated would be a seven day project — at most– ended up being three weeks because of unanticipated problems he encountered. He also needed to bring in an extra worker to properly dig the trench to the proper depth and grade. AT THE END OF THE JOB, SILAS DI NOT CHARGE US ONE PENNY MORE THAN HIS ORIGINAL QUOTE.
He and his workers always showed up time or called to say they were going to be late. They are hard working, polite, and they clean up every day after their work. They refused to come into our house without removing their shoes.
Here’s the FINAL IMPORTANT POINT. Not only did they do the work as promised, when they were through, you could hardly see any sign that the work had been done. Trenches were completely refilled and graded; saw cuts were refilled with concrete and blended, and a decorative rock wall step feature was preserved by digging under and preserving its integrity. (It would have been cheaper and quick to knock it down).
