Our services include grammar development, reading improvement, academic and professional writing, fluid and accurate speech development, listening, pronunciation and accent training, TOEFL/​IELTS preparation, Business English, academic and professional presentation making and vocabulary building.

History

Established in 2014.

W.E. Tutor | World English Tutor, founded in 2014 by the CEO & Primary Tutor Heather B. Winfield, provides English as a Second Language (ESL) training to international students and professionals in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia areas!

Washington, D.C. is a hub for international learners and one of the centers of international education. Students and professionals come to D.C. to pursue opportunities in higher education and to advance their professional goals. W.E. Tutor works to ensure that the academic, social and professional goals of these learners are all met in a way that is cost efficient, flexible and fun!

We provide specialized packages designed around a variety of language needs but we also allow our students to design their own sessions to accommodate their busy schedules!

We provide intensive training in all 4 language skills: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking for all levels of proficiency!

Meet the Business Owner

Heather W.

Business Owner

Heather Bree Winfield is a native Washingtonian who received her B.A. in English with a minor in French Linguistics from Spelman College and later received her TEFL certificate shortly after graduation from the TEFL Institute. Heather also has a Master’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the University of Southern California.

Heather studied French in Paris, France where she deepened her fluency in the French language and later moved back to France as an EFL teacher in 2009 while conducting private ESL tutoring in both Toulon and Paris, France. Upon her return, she taught ESL to adult and adolescent learners in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Heather takes a hands-​on approach to her teaching. She practices the communicative approach to language learning, so students are in constant engagement with the language in a relevant and meaningful way!
