They are very nice people, but not experts. Like Jennifer said, you’ve got to know what you want and be there every minute of the project, otherwise novice mistakes are made, even in their maintenance work. I’m not a landscaper, but I can tell when weeds aren’t pulled, especially if they are 4 feet long and wrapping round bushes. The base of our trees were properly trimmed either. Bushes looked scraggly after the trimming. The whole job just didn’t look professional. Also, if you want a three-season or four-season type of landscaping(so that your property looks attractive in any season), they are not the people to ask. They won’t know what plants blooms at what time, and the most aesthetic way to arrange them. I was looking for guidance on a project, but ended up doing way more research than I should have needed to, and knew more than the Villela landscapers about various plants by the time the job was done. I wish I had hired an architect to do the design and initial project, and then hired Villela for maintenance. My nephews could have done as good a job as they did.

I had to move on and find someone else to cut our lawn. They consistently didn’t show up and when I’d call, they seemed surprised that the lawn hadn’t been cut. If they didn’t come, how would the lawn get cut? Also, they didn’t keep track of billing very well and just didn’t have their act together. We struggled with them forgetting us last year but put up with it because they seemed so nice. This year they were just not professional at all. They didn’t show up for 2 weeks even after we were supposed to be on the schedule. Emails and phone calls weren’t returned. I even had some bigger projects for them but they never responded to two email requests. I really tried to hang in there but I couldn’t babysit them forever. When they did plant things for us, they did an OK job but it did require constant supervision. A lot of things died too and they were tough to get a hold of to come back and fix it. You can’t really get advice about what to plant either. Sadly, I just couldn’t recommend them. They now go under Genesys Landscaping I think.

Don’t do it. These guys are incompetent. Frustrations galore for a simple fall clean up.

Hardworking crew, family business. They really care about making you happy. And they are affordable.
