Susanna’s Child and Development Center

I am so happy to have found Susanna. She and her assistant Mebrat lovingly cared for my 2.5 year old daughter for 2 weeks while our normal child care provider was out of the country. I knew it was a perfect fit after day one when my daughter came home enthusiastically listing all the fun things she did that day. Susanna is great at keeping parents updated on their child’s progress. She stayed in contact with pictures and sends home a report every day with what my daughter did, ate, and her nap schedule. We are in the midst of potty training and Susanna jumped right in, helping encourage her to go so we didn’t have a big regression like I was expecting with such a change in routine. If I had found Susanna earlier I would make a permanent switch but we’ve already enrolled in a pre school for fall.

Susanna and her wonderful assistant Mebrat took care of our daughter for over a year, and I could not have imagined a better place for my daughter to grow from infant to toddler and learn about the world. Susanna is loving, grounded, and attentive; her home was a happy medium between the individualized attention my daughter would have gotten had she been placed with a nanny or family member and the rich stimulation and social interaction she would have gotten at a center-​based daycare. Susanna cooks delicious, homemade food for the children everyday (breakfast and lunch) and provides snacks, too. I can’t tell you what a time saver that was! The only reason we took our daughter out of Susanna’s care was because we moved out of state and we haven’t been able to find anything like it anywhere else. We miss Susanna so much!

Susanna took care of my son. We started at 6 months old and my son stayed until he started school. Susanna is truly the best! If you want your child to be exposed to love, attention and good manners Susanna is the person for you. She does projects with the kids for Mothers/​Fathers Day. She does art. She teaches good play and sharing. Susanna teaches good values to your child. I have sent others to Susanna so that she could care for their children. I love no one more than my child and I trust her with him.
My son still calls to say hello. You can’t go wrong with Susanna!

We truly enjoyed our experience with Susanna’s daycare. They have given nothing but love and kindness to my son. While we were at her daycare our son’s vocab expanded greatly along with his ability to interact with other children and learn boundaries. We appreciate everything she has done for us.

Susanna and her assistant, Mebrat, were a dream come true and were exactly what we were looking for in a daycare provider. They cared for our daughter from four months of age until we had to move out of the area at 21 months. Their loving expertise empowered me to thrive as a new working mom, and I will always be grateful that I could trust her with my daughter’s life in those early days. When she was a baby, they nurtured, held, and sang to her all day. As she grew, Susanna served healthy, homemade meals and let her spend time outside every day in the beautiful backyard. They taught my daughter letters, numbers, colors, and shapes, did creative arts and crafts projects with her, and nurtured her inquisitive mind and interest in music. Susanna’s home is warm, inviting, safe, and practical, with designated spaces for sleeping, playing, eating, and preparing food. I love that because she has an assistant, there were more little friends for my daughter to play with and learn from. I wish we hadn’t had to leave, and Susanna and Mebrat will be a part of our family forever!

We’ve been taking our 15 month old to Susanna’s for several months. We moved our daughter from a larger center in DC to Susanna’s in-​home daycare and couldn’t be more pleased. Our decision to move daycares wasn’t taken lightly and involved a list of pros and cons. We decided to move her, even though it’s a farther drive from home, because the pros were simply more important to us than a shorter drive and cheaper rates. Here’s a list of the pros that weighed into our decision: I love the opportunity our daughter has to play outside (in real grass!), weather permitting. Susanna’s home is set up so sleeping quarters (supervised with a monitor) are separate from play areas. My daughter is so much more well-​rested than she was at the «all-​in-​one room» set-​up of the larger center. Susanna has been great at working with us on our daughter’s nap schedule, food allergies, and developmental goals. I love the feeling of an in-​home daycare and know Susanna and Mebrat really enjoy the kids they are with every day. We’re so happy to have found them.
