Sheraton Silver Spring Hotel

Our power had gone out and it was 20 degrees out. I called local places that took pets and decided to check in here. I was greeted by the same person who took my call so check was super easy. We settled down sleep well and hung out for the day.
Lorenzo was very helpful with my situation of not knowing when we could return to my house he expressed a ton of flexibility. When it got time to check Winnie I think was super and helped the extra time spent there truly a joy.
We also took advantage of the parking lot as well.

Came home from a long meeting at 2 in the morning, the staff where so rude, I cannot believe how disrespectful someone can be. If you’re looking for a nice place in to stay, you could come here, if you are looking for assholes that treat you like unwanted trash, you should come here.

I like this hotel: people at the counter are nice and they always thank me for my business. Hotel is conveniently located close to highway 95. For loyalty members it offer free breakfast and pre-​dinner appetizers.
Since is not located in DC, the rates are reasonable. The only downsize is that is not located closed to any restaurants, but if you have a car, in 15 – 30 minutes you are in downtown DC (with no traffic) where plenty of options are available.

Oh dear. One of the more «interesting» Sheraton stays of my lifetime to say the least. I stayed on the club level and as a regular has me questioning future stays on the club level. First off for all, the building is oddly shaped almost like a circle. Things are at weird angles and the windows are minimal. They don’t care if newspapers are a day or two off either. As I state later, great employees but terrible management. NOT along the same lines of Sheraton management elsewhere.
Upon checking in shortly after 6pm I went to the club lounge as I usually do when staying at a Sheraton. HOLD UP! There was ONE appetizer… some weird wonton thing that neither myself or the other guests in the lounge could quite identify. As someone with allergies, not ok. At least in my experience, there’s always a Club Concierge who is in charge of the lounge be it tending to the food or guests. While there’s a DESK in this particular lounge (presumably where said Concierge would sit) there certainly wasn’t such an individual there during my stay. I would have simply asked said Concierge what the lone «appetizer» was but they didn’t have one!
Which brings me to the saving grace of this hotel… the front desk staff. I marched on down to them as I was NOT paying $ 250 for the club level only to have a single appetizer. As I’m sure many people agree, as guests we have expectations when it comes to the club level at this place was absolutely not up to par. Luckily, the front desk employee was amazing. Turns out she had to manage the club level lounge AND check people in at the same time. She said they have «regulars» who stay on the club level who simply have food made for them alas the lack of appetizers the rest of us are used to! What about those of us who are used to every other Sheraton across the country with legitimate club lounges?! Nonetheless, she called the chef who promptly came out to meet me. He couldn’t have been kinder. He asked what I’d like to be delivered up there and said he could make anything I’d like and even have it delivered to my room instead of the lounge. Again, that explains a lot. It just didn’t feel right ordering an entrée (which should include service fees and tips for other staff members) in place of the appetizers that are typically part of my stay. I simply asked for the standard veggie platter I’m used to at every other Sheraton. He asked about what else I might like and did the best he could. I said bring it to the lounge knowing there were a handful of other starving guests up there. Shortly thereafter, front desk lady brought up one of the best veggie platters I’ve ever seen with multiple dressings as well as various pizza bites as the restaurant has an extensive pizza menu. The guests must have smelled the food as everything was gone within 15 minutes. Still, it wasn’t replenished which sucks on behalf of management because that’s not what we’re paying for! While I was so appreciative of the front desk employee and the chef for doing what they could to fix the situation, management should NOT have employees who have another primary responsibility, acting in place of the Club Concierge returning customers have come to expect from Sheraton.
Again, amazing employees but poor management! The best part was at the strike of 10am as I was still eating my breakfast, the employee tending to the lounge removed everything, turned off the lights AND the TV that I was watching. I was speechless. Never have I experienced such a thing. Ever. Clearly management needs to do a refresher course on customer service as you don’t turn the lights off on a customer at 10am PERIOD. While this employee wasn’t at the front desk he clearly had some other position that was much more important than tending to the club lounge. At least I hope so as there’s NO EXCUSE for ever turning everything off on a customer especially in the morning.
Lastly, as of noon on the day I checked out, they still hadn’t replaced the Tuesday newspapers with the Wednesday papers. Making us read USA Today is bad enough but you can’t even replace the papers from the prior day? Honestly made me feel like I was in Groundhog Day.
I hate to say it but even as a dedicated customer I won’t come back here. Not the level of service I’m used to and not worth the extra $ 100+ to anyone out there torn between a standard room and club. Go elsewhere!

Read alot of negative reviews… i actually like the first impression. staff was nice and professional. parking was a breeze its free behind hotel on weekend.

Don’t stay here unless you are okay with them charging you for something you did not order and then refusing to give your money back or even following up with any sort of explanation.
Stayed here on Aug 4^th. Checked in around 8:45pm — after having dinner with a client and taking an Über from the restaurant to the hotel. When I checked out the next morning, there was a $ 50 charge on my account for room service dinner. I informed them that I had not order room service, for dinner, for breakfast, for anything. The front desk receptionist said she would look into it. Nothing. Charge was applied to my credit card a couple days later. Called a week later and spoke to someone in accounting who said he would look into it and call me back later that day. Never called. Almost 3 weeks later the charge has not been reversed, and I’m now disputing it with Amex.
Poor customer service.

Horrible experience. Of 3 elevators only 2 work and I am here with large group. People getting stuck in elevators. Resturant closes early so no food available when we get out of meetings.

Good:
The best darn bed that I’ve slept in. I even loved the body pillows in the bed.
Starbucks coffee included in the room. I wish I got more than one of those mini creamers you can get at the supermarket.
Free bottled water in the room (two out of three of the bottles are free). Just don’t take the large Dasani for four dollars because you’re robbing yourself.
Nice rewards program via SPG. Check it out.
Bar with reasonably priced cocktails in the lobby. I saw the prices for drinks in DC and I’m like woof, lol. I planned on going when I come back from DC but it looked like it was closed (around 1am).
Near downtown and the metro station.
Gorgeous lobby and great customer service at the front desk.
You don’t have to wait in line to check out at the front desk. You can call them from the room phone to check out and leave the keys on the desk in the room.
Bad:
Lipstick all over my blackout curtains. Ick.
Blackout curtains didn’t «black out» the room all of the way. Sunlight ruins my sleep and I’m not a morning person, so yeah.
Wifi is not free. It’s 2015, so this really bothers me. Thank God my phone plan allows me to make a personal hotspot when necessary.
Very limited parking. I don’t understand why parking is so crappy at hotels. There is a selection for little cars and for trucks/​vans/​suv. What is you have a regular sedan? I parked in the small car area and I was like whatever, lol. The car was fine after I checked out.
Overall it was a good experience, but I’m more than likely going to stay somewhere else because of the bad things I mentioned above, unless I’m on a tight budget. My room was only $ 98 a night, including tax.

Haven’t stayed in the hotel per se but I use the business center (Link@Sheraton) and Starbucks frequently. Wonderful place to do work and a professional and helpful staff.

I stayed here for a couple of nights for work. Very nice lobby set up with TVs and bar close by. They have a Starbucks attached to it (where the barista did not know how to make a iced mocha).
Parking is reasonable for $ 14/​day with in and outs allowed. It’s close to some nice restaurants and movie theater.
Their restaurant had some nice food. I like their breakfast buffet. Thick bacon, sausage, eggs, oatmeal, potatoes, cereal, breads/​pastries, and some special are available with the buffet. Also beverages are included with it. Good value for less than $ 15.
My room was far away from the elevator down a long curved hallway. Rooms a spacious. Nice layout with two double beds. The beds are high. Nice desk to work at. And they have a nice chair and foot rest. The one thing is that the bathroom is kind of small. The door is too big, where it hits the toilet.
Overall, a nice hotel.

I would rate this place a zero. Customer service front desk takes no accountability for issues. I had to call four times and finally walked down and waited an hour to get basic essentials soap trash bag and face towels. They refused to get the manager. The first day house keeping did not clean the room at all. Then provided a lame excuse as to why they didn’t clean up. When they did decide to Grace us with their presence they left dirty dishes (oat meal and wine glasses) on the table and didn’t provide a trash bag. They didn’t pick anything up our clean at all just dropped off towel and made bed. When front desk pages house keeping, none came over or even answer the phone. A lady treo with a broken got had to go hunt down towels and soak to take a shower, very irritating. Ordered room service for breakfast and they completely screwed up the food order missing good items and subpar food. We asked for brown sugar and the sugar was so old that it hardened from heat plus the container was not covered. The restaurant was had huge nat issues so look out for bugs in your food and or drink. Managers are nowhere to be good. horrible experience. Don’t waste your money go somewhere else.

Where do I begin? Worst hotel ever. I left my phone by mistake and boarded shuttle. Called the hotel and being placed on hold for what would seem hours became the norm. Front desk rude and inept and seemed irritated by my calls. My phone was turned in by their shuttle driver. He is the only redeeming part of this story. I will let me friend know that if you want to spend a huge amount of money and be treated like crap this is the place for you.
Loud AC and indifferent employees make for a really bad experience.

We stayed for two nights and it was awesome! Carmie checked us in and she was so friendly and welcoming! She also remembered our names and said hello every time we went through the lobby. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable! A Starbucks is off of the lobby — added bonus! Oh, and they accept pets. How fantastic is that! No complaints!

My review focuses on the banquet rooms and meeting rooms. There are enough unhappy guests who left comments on Sheraton’s web site to convince me not to check into this hotel (kudos to management for posting the complaints). However, if you select this hotel, there is free parking directly next door on weekends. Self parking is currently $ 14 and valet parking is $ 20. Both should be free to hotel guests.
I attended a fancy banquet that had approximately 60 guests. There were only two people assigned to the room and they were both servers. I never saw a hotel manager or event planner before or after the dinner. Several of us arrived early to help place programs on each chair and stayed after most guests had left.
There were two meals available: Chicken or vegetarian lasagna. The chicken was moist. Hubby liked it. The vegetable lasagna had decent ingredients but the pasta was dry. There was barely any sauce inside or on top. The carrots presented better than they tasted. A butter knife wasn’t enough to cut them. They weren’t cooked enough. The squash soup was amazing. The cheesecake was delicious. A boring bread basket was also available. The dips weren’t labeled on the serving table. It isn’t fun identifying blue cheese when you expect Ranch dressing! The veggies were decent. The fruit selection was fresh and good.
The server who removed my veggie plate dribbled dressing all over my jacket that was hanging on my chair. After I pointed out the mess, a server quickly wiped off my jacket and returned it to me. That was a cue for the event planner or manager to make an appearance and see how the event was going.
The biggest detraction from the dinner was being in a sauna all evening. Thank goodness for having a program to use as a fan. The temperature was an issue that management knew about because an ugly air conditioner (presumably removed from one of the rooms) was placed in front of the entryway that the staff used all night. Management should have switched the event to another room since they knew that the temperature was off.
I would not suggest using this venue for any gathering. I hope someone contacts the organization that wasted money and makes it right.

Average hotel. Pretty expensive for the amenities and services they provide. A few things that I noticed was that there was no DVD player in the room, no mini-​fridge, the shower faucet was ancient and the water took at least two minutes to warm up, and the wi-​fi is another expense that the hotel adds. I enjoyed the comfortable beds, however. The addition of a Starbucks in the lobby also helps quite a bit, but overall, this hotel does not offer anything extraordinary.

Ok. So this hotel is actually really great! The staff here is really fantastic– thank you Camria (I think this is misspelled) and Albert and Eugine and the rest of your team for making my stay wonderful! You guys are awesome! The room was clean and spacious! I really hope more people will stay here and the staff at the Starbucks– guys you rock! Thank you everyone at the silver spring hotel for making my stay great! This hotel really is fantastic! Even the staff with housekeeping who I met is so kind and generous. The customer service here is outstanding!!! They really go out their way to make you feel welcome and help you in any way they can! I will be back!

Restaurant — breakfast with the family. A la carte, average food, decent service, hotel lobby décor somewhat dated, tired. Beautiful outdoor scenes for artwork were nice. They had trouble serving a large table of folks on time. The waiters did seem to try their best, despite their challenges.

Worst hotel experience in years. First room offered smelled like a corpse. Room service took over an hour to come. Carhops have no idea how to get a cab. Plumbing was down. Horrible ways to overcome for incompetent operations. More to corporate… Hire a consultant, make changes, fire some people who have no stake in offering customer service. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Outstanding experience from start to finish. Excellent desk staff. Fantastic breakfast buffet includes eggs, bacon, fruits, French toast, hot oatmeal and more. Convenient downtown location located ten minutes walk from subway stop. Nice room with 2 free water bottles daily. Elegant lobby, computer area, on site restaurant and Starbucks. I will be spending more time here no doubt.
Patrons seem middle tier, a mix of business class and common folk. Large number of teenagers around; I don’t know what explains this. They were pretty well behaved and supervised.

I came to Silver Spring for a month-​long course at the AFI Silver Theater, so I chose this hotel due to proximity. I had really great customer service from a woman named Allison. She was one of the best receptionists I have ever encountered. From the moment I called to ask questions before I even arrived, to the multiple times I had to ask for either a room change, or coordination with my coworker to stay on the same floor, she was amazing. The other staff members were not as helpful, but Allison always came to save the day, with a smile on her face.
I also really enjoyed the option to decline room cleaning, for a $ 5 voucher per day. Over the course of a month, I «made» a ton of money, which I was able to transfer into Starwood points.
Room was comfortable, lobby was nice, and they are building a Starbucks downstairs, which will be convenient. Gym was small but the machines had built in TVs.
Negatives:
One room I stayed in, there were strange noises coming from behind the wall (and no, it was not honeymooners). Scared me, didn’t sleep all night, but at least I was changed the next day to another room. I guess this wasn’t the Sheraton’s fault.
Shuttle service was great, but would have been nice if they ran past 10 pm, especially on the weekends. The location is not as close to the metro as I would like, and the walk from the metro to the hotel was a little dark and isolated at night.
One other negative, I had a package delivered to the hotel, and when I was not available to pick up the package from the front desk, they had it delivered to my room without asking me… which sounds good in theory, but it was weird to come back to my room and discover the package sitting on my bed. I am uncomfortable with people coming into my room if I am not expecting them, what if I have dirty clothes and valuables lying around???
