I never doubt that the services suggested/​provided are necessary. I appreciate the integrity with which this business is run.

Terrible service. Waited for nearly two hours for an oil change, after being promised a wait time of an hour. Left the facility with my car after seeing someone with an appointment have his car serviced before me for the same service.

I called around and had prices quotes and various experiences with car repair places around DC. I found a Groupon for an oil change with this place, and then later had then price quote a few routine maintenance items, as well as a couple repairs. They had prices that were somewhere between $ 10 – 50 lower than other places I had requested quotes from. Since then, I’ve been going to them regularly for all my car maintenance and (thankfully few) repairs. They always get me in, have convenient hours, offer reasonable prices, have really friendly service and have even freely troubleshooted a couple of my issues. Both men and women work the counter and are equally knowledgeable about issues, which I also appreciate. They are often really busy, so I recommend making an appointment in advance and early in the morning so you can get in and out. They are not chatty on the phone, which is fine by me, but they clearly explain any issues your car has and offer a variety of options to take care of them. They care budget conscious on my behalf as well, which is greatly appreciated. In addition, they do have a waiting room with lots of free coffee, but there are various places to eat nearby if you have a repair that is going to take a while. There is a library within walking distance as well.

You pay for what you get. I needed to get the valve covers replaced on my 2004 VW, so I called around and PA gave me the best price by about $ 100, so I figured it was a no brainer for a relatively simple task. They did the work and I didn’t think much of it for about six months until I started to smell burned engine oil in my car. Another mechanic told me it was b/​c the valve covers were leaking. I remembered that PA had given me a warranty, so I asked my dad to bring it back in for me b/​c I was out of town. I also asked him to have them check the break pads. They told him that the valve covers wee fine and that the smell was from «old oil» on the engine — presumably that they never cleaned when they changed the covers the first time. They also said they couldn’t change the break pads b/​c they couldn’t get the wheel locks off. When he told them over the phone that the key was in the trunk w/​the spare tire, they said they couldn’t find it. When he picked it up, he noticed the glove compartment (which to be fair had been sticky) was broken open (in an attempt to find the wheel lock key) and not put back together. At least they didn’t try to charge him for anything.
At this point my dad lost his patience and took the car to his mechanic, who discovered that the valve covers AND spark plugs that PA had put in were the wrong size (!), hence the leaking and burnt oil; and easily found the wheel lock key.
The people he and I spoke w/​on the phone were nice and responsive. My assumption is they had bad mechanics working on this (both times).

Stopped by again to get my windshield wiper nozzle replaced and was greeted pleasantly by the manager, Colby. I really get the small town feel when I come here and believe that this location is a hidden gem. Since I’ve been here several times in the past 3 years, I have witness the manager’s customer service skills. He always jovial and customers respond well to his demeanor.

Ok, so I got my oil changed here. I have not tried anything else yet, but I may try getting my Inspection done here and updating this review later —
As for the Oil Change — It was cheap (Around $ 16), and was done fairly quickly. Around 2 – 3 weeks later I believe, my car burned this oil pretty quickly. Was at medium on the reading on my dipstick. At the same point, its a Saturn so saturns tend to burn oil quickly. I took it back to ask them if i could get it topped off, they checked my car for free on the bottom and told me it doesn’t have an oil leak, it is moist but not enough or at a point to say its an actual oil leak. It clearly does not drip oil having it lifted for a 2 – 3 minutes.
They topped it off for free and I was on my way. Will be returning here again at a later date

Great crew. All individuals were friendly, direct and assisting with my appointment.

I called on a Friday morning of a holiday weekend and although they were booked for an oil change they asked me to try again in two hours. I did and they fit me in during the afternoon while even putting on a big soccer match while I waited.

Just purchased a groupon voucher. The groupon voucher and Precision Tune’s website advise making an appointment. I called and was put on hold for a few minutes. Then I spoke to someone with the customer service skills of a slug (sorry, but true). He informed that they don’t take reservations on weekends.
I inquired, well, why wasn’t this made clear on your website or with Groupon. And he blamed corporate. Not a good sign. Canceling my groupon and staying the hell away from this place.

I know I was the last comment on here but wanted to come back and write again, because this place wows me every time. Honest, reliable service, fair rates, and the manager shows time and time again his appreciation for loyal customers. I get all of my work done here, would not go anywhere else. I convinced my husband to bring his car to precision auto tune as well, and he has been equally pleased. Don’t waste your money on dealerships, or get swindled at jiffy lube or other gas station shops. This is the real deal, you won’t be disappointed.

I have come here for maintenance services and besides long wait times, I have never had a problem. I recently went to have my oil changed and headlight replaced. They said it would take about an hour. 3 hours later i called to see if my car was ready and the guy curtly told me he called me «a long time ago» and left a voicemail that my car was ready.
umm no. you didn’t.
I went to pick up my car and they did not fix the headlight. A different guy behind the counter told me that if they found something wrong it would say in the comments. There were no comments so my headlights are fine.
I paid for my oil change, turned on my lights, saw the the left was still out, and took it to Far East Motors where they changed it within 30 mins.
I will probably not come here anymore.

My first experience with this Precision Tune was in 2011 and I was very pleased with the service. They took me around 6pm and it only took 40 minutes. I had a coupon for a standard oil change that I got off of the website and when I got there, they allowed me to use the standard oil coupon to get a discount on the Premium oil change with synthetic oil.
I return a year later and they won’t allow me to use the standard oil coupon to get a reduced price. They also wanted to charge me an extra $ 40 on top of the $ 130 I just spent on an oil change and radiator flush to «evaluate» why my engine light is still on. Checking the engine light does not cost $ 40. Mechanics have done it for FREE and AutoZone will check it for FREE! I was appalled that they would try to nickel-​and-​dime me after I just spent $ 130 in work. I don’t know if it’s new management or what, but I will not be returning to this place.

I called last minute around 6p after realizing I was not going to have much time in my weekend or upcoming week to maintenance my car. Most of the shops in my NW DC neighborhood was closed so I googled shops that stayed open late, found Precision.
When I called, I was greeted respectfully and the young man encouraged me to come by before jumping to service conclusions, saying he didn’t want to quote me something I didn’t need. He took my name and let me know he was expecting me.
When I arrived, the same guy (Edwin I think) swiftly got me registered an helped me figure out the best plan for service that evening. They made suggestions but did not pressure me into anything. I know a bit about cars and my knowledge was not used against me, thrown in my face, or mocked as does happen to young women who find themselves in a shop full of dudes.
But, the entire staff was very professional and helpful. No one seemed lurky or disrespectful to me. The mechanics worked fast and efficiently; and the communication between the team members seemed cool. It took about 40 minutes before they got to my car, but I was out of there within 2 hours of my arrival– engine flush, check engine light (coupon accepted), battery test, oil change, fluid top offs.
Fastest service I’ve had so far. I am looking forward to making the small trip up to Silver Spring for more maintenance.

I had my oil changed at Precision this morning. They were honest and efficient. They didn’t try to charge me for extra services or rip me off, which has happened to me several times as a young-​ish woman. They offered me advice for my tires but didn’t push me to do any services. I will definitely be returning to Precision for my auto needs. You will also be happy to wait for your car in a comfortable waiting area with TV, coffee and cold water.

They took care of my headlight problem in 15 minutes and did not charge me an arm and a leg. Really prompt friendly service. Obviously not out to rip you off. Will come back anytime my car has any other issues. And as a bonus the area right next to it has a big latin market with tons of fresh latin food.

Went here on a groupon. Needed some tires and an oil change. I thought I needed brakes, they said no. Very good customer service. I dealt with Kobe. Very cool and didn’t try to rip me off. Even though it’s out of my way, I’ll take my car here for all future maintenance. thanx groupon

This place is great! I tend to spend a lot of time in auto repair places, as I drive a 15-​year-​old vehicle (and my prior vehicle, while newer, was a major lemon that got recalled a few months after I unloaded it on some other unfortunate soul). While everywhere else I’ve lived I’ve eventually been able to find a mechanic I trust, I had had nothing but bad experiences in the DC area until I happened upon this place. I chose them because of a combination of the fact that you do not need to make an appointment days in advance (how am I going to know when my car’s going to start acting up?) and the fact that it’s easy to find and relatively convenient to where I work. I have had numerous small repairs performed, and they are always honest with me and tell me «well, you could have such-​and-​such work done but it would be expensive and you don’t really need it and can get by without it» — I mean, obviously, they realize I am not driving a beat-​up old vehicle because I’m looking for high performance! Also they are not trying to take advantage of my perceived (and actually quite real) ignorance, because I’m female and single.
One other thing we like about this place is the coffee machine — they have a Keurig single-​cup maker with a large selection of tasty flavored coffees and teas and hot chocolate, and my son loves making coffee for us when we’re there. We can also walk to the 7 – 11 for a snack, or could patronize the taco (er, pupusa) truck in the parking lot, although I don’t because I’m annoyed with them for blocking a number of parking spaces and making it awkward to maneuver in and out of the lot. Wish the taco/​pupusa mobile would park behind the 7 – 11, there are a lot of empty spaces there, at least during the hours Precision Auto’s open.
Apart from the cramped parking lot, I like everything else about Precision Auto, and the fact that my son doesn’t mind our semi-​frequent trips there is also a major point in its favor. (Of course, this is the child who got to ride in the can of a tow truck two times before his first birthday, and spent a good chunk of his first year hanging out in a garage as that was the last year of the lemon truck.)
