Luisa Alcazar is marvelous. She was very professional and warm in treating us. She answered all of my questions thoroughly and intelligently and she was very welcoming. She gave us excellent service and will definitely recommend her and the fcu to anyone that needs to open an account and get a loan.

The branch manager Luisa was extremely helpful and very efficient. The staff was very friendly, definitely the only bank I will be going to.

Nice credit union. Used them primarily because MAFCU is part of shared branches, I can use my other credit union to transact at this branch. Opened an account at Mid Atlantic because I could see that it is well run. People would do well to realize that there are credit unions and evvvverything else. A credit union won’t hit you with hidden fees. I had a bank account that would charge me to move savings to checking. Needless to say, that happened exactly once. Credit unions are insured federally. Credit unions are owned by members and so you can expect the best – to include innovation. Increasingly, features like taking a photo of a check to send, will suffice for taking in a check for deposit. Wish that MAFCU were a little more Outreach. Took a young relative in to open an account. Since she had two small spots, but no other credit, MAFCU would not open an account. She’ll turn it around, but the credit union should have a starter account for young people who might have run afoul of a mobile phone bill. Even after getting it straight, it follows you for seven years. At least let someone deposit to build credit. More outreach could happen for subsidized county buildings. People use cab fare or ride the bus TO GET CASH for cabs and busses! MAFCU could have ATM located in these buildings, or, have once a week visiting teller to transact the old fashioned way — -by hand, across a desk. These folks get monthly checks, MAFCU should find a way to serve these hundreds of people throughout the county. Bringing the credit union to people who live in assisted living and subsidized apartments should be as or more important than the credit union being in office buildings. Go to where the members are.

I’m a shared credit union member, and I’ve used this branch multiple times to help me do my banking. So as you can imagine, I was surprised when going in last week to deposit some checks and the teller REQUIRED that I give her my phone number. Note that I have never had to do this before, and that I presented all requested ID. Nevertheless, she told me she wouldn’t process my checks unless I gave her my phone number.
Inquisitive, I asked what would be done with it. «We just keep it on record», I was told. Would it be provided to any third parties? «I don’t know».
So you mandate individual’s personal contact information (information which you don’t need to do their banking, and which isn’t required by the Co-​Op network), but you can’t tell us any specifics of why it’s required or what is being done with it… especially if it is being shared with (i.e. sold) to third parties.
Sounds like you’ve got a nice little side business going on…

Awful customer service, arrived there early in the morning when they opened their doors and I had to wait for 1 hour before i got tired and left

I go here because my credit union is on their network & they are always helpful! The cashiers are very pleasant and knowledgeable. I just wish there was one closer to me in Hyattsville!

I have been banking with MAFCU since 2007 and have had nothing but good experiences.
While on vacation in 2012 I wanted to purchase a timeshare. I called MAFCU to see how their rates compared to the rates properties finance company. I was approved for my loan over the phone (pending supporting documentation). But I decided to use it for debt consolidation instead.
In 2013 I was at a convention when it was discovered that a check I’d written, for over $ 1,200.00 had been doctored and cash by an unintended recipient. MAFCU credited the money back to my account and was very helpful with the filing of my police report. They provided all the documentation I needed of the person that cashed my check. All of this was able to be done over the phone & via email since I was out of the area.
Last month I was in the market for a new car. I saw all the advertisements about the low interest rates so I picked up the phone and called Bobbie. She was able to take my information over the phone and get me approved. Even though she no longer works in the Silver Spring branch she was willing to come in for me to sign the paperwork. When we were unable to connect she made sure that Veronika was there to assist me. They are both very polite, professional, friendly & helpful. I have recommended MAFCU to several friends & family members.

Since relocating to the East Coast 4 years ago I needed to find a sister bank for my transactions. I’ve found Mid-​Atlantic and have been a member every since; friendly tellers and great customer service and I love the change machine!

Really nice and friendly staff, especially Sandy! She always asks how you would like your bills and takes care of everyone really quick and professionally. Noone likes waiting in long lines and she understands that. She also works at the bethesda branch that is closing at the end of the month!

P.S MAFCU atm machines take denominations other then 20’s! Most atm machines only spit out 20’s!

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, HORRIBLE BANK. Take your business elsewhere. I banked there for a little over a week, which was all the time needed to be charged $ 31 in a COMPLETELY unwarranted fee. I move often, love credit unions, have excellent credit, and have banked with 3 different CUs in 3 different states and have NEVER had a bad or even remotely unpleasant experience until Mid-​Atlantic. When I called to resolve the issue they were unresponsive and uncooperative. I was kind in tone and manner when trying to resolve the issue with their representative. They offered no help and made no attempt to compromise or find a resolution. I finally said, «Let me get this straight, you’re saying you cannot and will not do anything to help make this right? Even though I didn’t to anything wrong?» Their answer, «Yes.» I’m closing my account and taking my banking needs elsewhere.

Pretty cool credit union. I’ve never really experienced any exceptionally long lines here. The staff is always nice & inviting. The main reason that we come here is that they are a credit union shared service center which makes it super convenient!!!
